opes:
Eric Chelle’s contract details:

1. Two-year contract.

2. Option of another year, if he qualifies the Super Eagles to the 2026 FIFA World Cup finals.

3. Chelle will come with three assistants, and will work with the crew on ground to enhance the Super Eagles’ brand.

4. He will be with the Super Eagles B, which is preparing for the upcoming 8th African Nations Championship, only in a supervisory role.

I like the passion and belief. Looks like a guy that will not give excuses like "we are a young team' etc. the likes of Rohr, Peseiro had a "humble" approach. This is a breath of fresh air and we want to see it on Matchday one.

I just pray for luck. If he wins his match against Rwanda, that's the omen I'd be looking out for. When Rohr was appointed, his first match away was against Zambia. He defeated them 2-1. That victory set him up so nicely. Chelle needs that kinda charm.

After many years of following the SEs, all this speeches doesn't move me, I just want to see him do the talking on the pitch.
Im neither for nor against his appointment, just want to see our SE playing good football and winning games. I wish him all the best.
Speech might be commonplace but it is very important. It was from his speech that I began to fear for Finidi. In the beginning was the word! After Rohr breezily qualified us for Russia 2018, his speech became diffident and full of excuses.

If the word is not right, everything is likely to go wrong. But I understand that you want action to speak louder than voice.

But like Bishop Fulton Sheen once wrote: speech is the summation of a soul:what it was, what it is and what it will be.

I wish Chelle all the best.

yes yes you’re right, first away match…omo thats gonna make Chelle’s own very difficult, cos he is not starting his first super eagles game on home soil, but a tough away match against group leaders Rwanda 🇷🇼…Rohr first enjoyed the home support of Uyo vs Tanzania before giving Zambia smackdown….but wait oh

And what do you understand by "skillful"?
If rabona and stepovers are not part of skills in football, then what is?
They are no longer part of football skills to u only because u have seen too much of them.

When R9 popularized stepovers in the '90s,there was nothing like it.

U go just sit back in ur house downplaying other people's effort with ur phone,
just try to enter pitch a little bit and attempt to perform rabona or stepovers against ur opponents, let's see how far.
step over or rabona are skills but you can't classified someone as most skillful base solely on this just as you did for Yahaya. Have you seen kanu doing Rabona or step overs but everyone will agree he's one of the most skillful (if not the most) player produce by Nigeria. Same way I watch Mikel before his Chelsea days to know he's far more skillful than half of the players on your list.

Ah what is now skills
Ball control, passing, defending, dribbling, shooting, heading are all skills, maybe leg over is the only skills you know which even modern football have done away with. The focus is more on ball control and passing.
CR7 became even more fierce when he reduce the step over
I don't think I've seen Messi doing leg over or rabona before, rarely.

😂 you are right. But for Finidi I was against heis appointment from the start, his speech just added to my conviction. I love Enyimba as a club so I do watch some of their matches and what I saw with Finidi being at the helm of affairs I knew he wasn't ready for SE job.

The cheering aspect of Eric Chelle's speech for me was insisting on playing attacking football and scoring goals.
I am not a fan of boring football, parking-the-bus, win-at-all-cost, etc.

I would prefer a coach who adopts a flamboyant and expressive playing style than one who just plays defensive and tries only to win.
When Rohr joined us, his style of play was really enthralling but after we qualified for the WC, everything changed. We became the most boring team in the world.

Someone rightly mentioned that Finidi's speech was quite uninspiring. I think his interview on Arise did his respect much damage, because he could not articulate a logical plan for the team.
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by DABIGATRAN(m): 1:20am
As usual, the ceremony was very chaotic and the organization quite kindergarten. A "country" that never grows.

The officials were misbehaving during the announcement, and someone was even talking on the phone.
Bunch of barbarians!!

Must we have a high table?
Undergraduate school events are even more grand.

Nothing good about the letter. Headless arrogance: Nigeria as "giant" of Africa.
Why do our brethren from the west like belittling other Africans?

As we speak, Nigeria is a crumbling entity, not even among the top 3 economies on the continent.
Our teams struggle to qualify for group stage of CAF CC. Our league is crap. The football administrators are bunch of thieving politicians.

Why do we still stymie our progress by retaining this retrogressive colonial mentality that it must be a white man?
Why did we go round Finidi, Eguavon and now Chelle in the first place? Because Amunike must not be the head coach due to his ethnicity.

I am not a fan of Chelle but I want Africans especially my brethren from the West to desist from this embarrassing infighting within us. We have a host of brilliant minds on the continent. It must not be a white man please!!!
