Dangote Petroleum Refinery has increased the price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol, citing rising global crude oil prices.

In a statement released on Friday, the refinery announced that the new bulk purchase rate for customers buying between 2 million and 4.99 million litres is now N955 per litre. Bulk buyers purchasing 5 million litres or more will pay N950 per litre.

The adjustment represents a 6.17% increase, equivalent to N55.5 per litre, compared to the discounted rate of N899.50 per litre offered during December 2024’s holiday period.

The new pricing structure will take effect at 5:30 PM today, impacting all unsold stock and pending orders, according to the statement.

In a notice titled “Communication on PMS Price Review”, the refinery attributed the price hike to escalating global oil prices.

Not bad considering that crude price has gone up after the last petrol price reduction.

I have been vindicated again.Forget all the noise, there is no way we as country can get the full benefit of full deregulation,if the govt don't address the current exchange rate.for Christ sake #1600 is too much and it doesn't have any Benefit to this country. The reasonable exchange should be around #800.

The country is crumbling before our eyes—the economy has collapsed, record-breaking unemployment never seen in the country before, businesses are closing down leaving families they support in despair.
Parents are forced to endure the agony of seeing their children starve day after day.
Tinubu’s presidency will forever be remembered as the epitome of incompetence, corruption, and failure.
We once believed no leader could surpass Buhari’s ineptitude, but Tinubu has shocked us all by doing just that.
What makes this tragedy worse is the utter absence of hope for change or improvement.
Since the wicked son of lucifer removed subsidy there's nothing of benefit the average Nigerian can point to as the gains of subsidy removal

Blame Biden who slammed new sanctions on Russian oil tankers.

Oil has actually increased significantly to over $80 in the international market since Biden announced the new sanctions that will prevent almost 1m barrel of crude daily supply to the market.

I’m not an expert. But after viewing and analyzing this post from beginning to the end, line by line, word by word, letter by letter. I came to the conclusion and I can say that I can’t say anything because as I said at the beginning, I'm not an expert. And I don't know why people will just decide to waste their time reading my comment when clearly I have nothing to say. And this person is still reading it grin grin grin

This is exactly what would happen in 2027: you will begin to see some good things that would make you feel things are getting better and there is light at the end of the tunnel…. Then you vote again for your oppressors. Suddenly after election, your oppressors take away the seemingly ray of hope and increase hardship by 2000% and then you realize that there is even no tunnel anymore …. It goes on and on until “una mumu don do”

Now, we MUST produce enough crude oil locally to feed our refineries so that we can be isolated from the international market fluctuations/shocks angry

The only way Nigeria can have a strong currency is via manufactured goods and services

And even then it won't make petrol cheap and affordable. People who give you the petrol all wanna be paid salaries that would prevent jakpa

Not going to happen.

Though producing more crude may lower crude prices and by extension petrol price

It also wild hit government revenues badly and force them to take more loans

That doesnt stop NNPCL from charging the naira equivalent of the price in dollar.

Thought Dangote is buying crude in naira?
Then again, thought products from Warri and PH refinery will saturate the market and lower pump price ?

On the other hand the only way to run a refinery is by allowing the refinery to sell fuel at a price that would earn it a profit that would enable it pay production costs.

That's why Ghana and Niger have working refineries

Having the government subsidies petrol leads to bad refineries and corruptions galore. As seen in Venezuela and Nigeria . And massive debt. As seen in Iran.

Nothing comes for cheap

Every country that does not run a subsidy on fuel has fluctuating prices of petrol

Even saner climes like the USA.

Cost of production.

Because at the end, dangote is running a business

And also selling crude in naira does not mean it would be cheap, it just means that the naira equivalent of the cost in dollars is being charged. If dollar rises against the naira, so does the price
