This story is incomplete. undecided

If only that guy had better kala, he should have emptied all the groundnuts in their direction. Breaking into people’s homes by 3am as a federal agency is a no no, how many homes have they broken into in the north like this?

MrEverest:
"Preliminary investigations showed that Ikechukwu was involved in coding and online medical supplies of doubtful legitimacy. Two laptops, ipads, several recording devices were recovered from his apartment and his involvement in internet fraud is already established. Though currently in police custody owing to the murderous dimension of his case, the Commission will surely bring him to trial"

Since when did coding and online medical supplies become a criminal activity?

How is owning two laptops and iPad amount to criminal activity?

How can a country's supposed anti graft agency use the terms alleged, suspected, confirmed and established criminal to describe a suspect who is already known to be a practicing doctor? Are they now the prosecutor and jury at the same time?

Nothing was said about the modus operandi of scaling fence at the odd hours which the whole argument has been about all these while.

The Dr. shouldn't hesitate to hire reputable SANs to defend him in court and they should ensure the case is followed by all Nigerians.

We are in a banana Republic!

Don't mind them. The press statement is an embarrassment not only to EFCC, but to Nigeria as a whole.
Imagine stating they recovered two laptops, 2 ipads and some recordings device in the home of a medical doctor. As if that is strange. In my house, 2 of my children have laptops, my wife and I have laptops, and we have at least 3 ipads/tablets.
Then there is the stupid statement of a medical doctor being involved with medical supplies and coding, are you kidding me? As if that by itself is a crime.
This case will bring to the fore lots of EFCC's illegalities and excesses. Do EFCC need a warrant to seize and open citizens phones, tablets, computers and letters? Do they have rights to confiscate people's properties without a court order? Because before now, EFCC would just raid a compound particularly one with lots of young people, seize and search their phones and laptops and then go on to confiscated their cars, properties and expensive items, then leave never to be heard from again.

See how they have twisted the entire narrative. "Politely knocked on the door" indeed. Politely knocked on the door at an ungodly hour, like visitors on an insidious courtesy call.

See them. Agency of liars and criminals. What a disgrace

Toh. This time you people have met your match

I didn't even see your post when I made mine yet it's as if they're cloned!

Look at the flawed accusations made by a country's supposed anti graft agency! Anyone who is educated and has common sense will easily see how ridiculous it sounds. They were even trying to use emotion to counter logical public outrage. I'm really sorry seeing the shameful level Nigeria is still operating.

the whole thing is nauseating

these clowns have been running this game where they break into peoples homes with no consequences

if the man had been unarmed they would have entered his house, scattered it, beaten him up, possibly roughed up his wife and children, held him for a few days then released him with no apology or explanation or redress.

now they are floundering and struggling to justify their actions.

NDLEA catches drug barons everyday - but we don't hear of them storming their residences in the dead of the night
with all the excesses of police, police do not do this either.

it is only EFCC who have to break into the houses of white collar criminals at 2am like armed robbers

Dogalmighty17:
The questions EFCC needs to answer
1. Was there a directive last year from the commissions headquarters banning mid night raids by the agents of the commission? If there was why were its operatives engaged in such an operation again in clear disregard of a directive that the EFCC had publicly and widely made available?

2. Did its officers break down the door of the medical doctor so as to gain forceful entry into his apartment or not?

3. Was a warrant at anytime issued for the medical doctors arrest? Was he invited to the commissions office? The EFCC extends invitations to political office holders from time to time and a number of them have ignored such invitations. Does the EFCC go about breaking down their doors to enforce arrest? Yahaya Bello comes to mind. He ignored EFCC's invitation for months endlessly. Why was there no commando-like operation to arrest him at any time?

4. If reasonable ground exists to suspect someone of a financial crime, did the EFCC go to a judge to get a warrant? Or is the organisation so lacking in competence that it can't properly mount surveillance on a target and have that target arrested in day time? Why must barging into peoples homes at night be the default method the commission prefers?

The EFCC has lost public support and it will be hard-pressed to find anyone sympathetic to its position on this matter.

The only question that needs your brain for answers is where did the killer get a gun if he is not a criminal?

With due respect to the dead let’s also call the EFCC out for the robbery and corruption that pervades that agency, breaking into peoples house in the night under whatever guise is unacceptable.

no respect to the dead

the man knew exactly what he was doing . why else will they be breaking into peoples homes in the dead of the night when they cannot be caught on camera by the public?

the people they claim to be chasing are yahoo boys , not armed robbers or kidnappers

You can't be going to people house around 3am in the morning and expect corporation.

They better review their system before they loose more officers.

So pathetic, common bullet proof vest, government can't provide for all security agent. You see them facing gunmen like James Bond

All the way from Sokoto to Anambra to break into people's homes at wee and unholy hours of the night like thieves and armed robbers. While politicians who stole away the future of this country are being invited respectfully during the day for questioning.

What was he expecting? The owner of the house will defend his home by any means necessary. It's called self defense and self defense is not a crime.

Let him get a good lawyer to prosecute his case.
EFCC could have invited him over if they had something on him and all this nonsense armed robber style of arrest and subsequent death of this officer would have been averted.

Criminal efcc.

You burst into people's house around 1am, no notice no identification and you're claiming to do which legitimate work?

The Dr. Spared them and these idiots are making noise. He would have killed all of them with an assault riffle.

Efcc bastards who engage in criminality.

If you want to work, kindly go for arrest when everyone can see you guys.

EFCC should start conducting their business in a more decent manner.

No one should support your violent behavior, regardless of your patriotic instinct.

No one should blame the doctor - he was defending himself.

How many times will this issue be condemned, before you get civilized?

this happened last year

is this the action of a professional

four men stormed into a room and started slapping around a woman

i am sure they did not know the room had a camera

that is the kind of 'sanctioned' operation efcc operatives have been running

break into peoples homes and start beating them up

the woman must have been scared out of her wits

what is the difference between these men and armed robbers?

If EFCC don't know any details like; full names and possible suspected crime they are investigating any suspect on, it means they go about breaking people's homes.

In developed countries, how can FBI or CIA arrest someone they don't know ,with making background check on the person, just the way Hushpuppy was trailed and nailed with overwhelming evidences.
Re: EFCC mourns Operative, Salisu Sahabi Killed In Awka Raid, Names Suspect by Jacobx007: 9:01pm On Jan 19
This is just the beginning, we have been telling them and they say we are talking rubbish? EFCC should always liaise with the Police for joint operation on arrests based on laid down rules and regulations. You can't be pulling down people's doors like KIDNAPPERS, BANDITS AND ARMED ROBBERS

I once saw a video on Twitter I think oga lady stating how the efcc raided their home at night merely seeing the damages, I was traumatized.

What if they had little children in that house.

If you foolishly break into someone's house by 1am anything you see you collect.

You said the guy is a doctor why not gather intelligence and arrest him at his place of work, then he'll lead you to his house for further search.

Why break into a house in the middle of the night and then try to justify your actions. Most especially in a volitile place like Anambra where kidnapping is on the steady rise.

Abeg that officer killed himself.

In their statement they didn't even claim to have obtained a valid court warrant before invading the house which will vital during court sessions.

He was an armed robber, and he deserves that

Efcc as an entity sent out a press release saying night sting operations have been banned, so what were the three operatives doing in the mans house 3am in the morning

With the insecurity going on everywhere in Nigeria, you break into a mans house without prior notice and or search warrant in the dead of the night and you expected him not to nak you shots, dey play.

If you have the money for licensed short gun, abobi get one for self defense abeg, these efcc operatives and police officers will sit tight if this incident happens couple of times.

The said man they raided wasn't even a "Yahoo boy" so what were they doing there exactly if not to steal

They are now claiming that he is into coding of medical supplies who what that means obviously to justify raiding of his apartment.

I knew there was more to this story. All yahoo boys / girls in Nigeria have been celebrating since morning and happy that one of their alleged colleague has killed one of their arch enemies. Its over for that alleged yahoo doctor.I wonder why the surviving EFCC officials did not retaliate to the shooting of their fellow officers.Had I been an officer who participated in the raid , the doctor would have paid will his life as well. You are claiming self defense when nobody shot at you first & you later went to hide in the ceiling ! Let justice prevail in this case.
