Someone needs to study why people think like this. Or is this how politics can make people so confused as to loathe their own identity? It's just like saying "I'm an ijebu man, but I'm not Yoruba". In the end, Ikwerre is neither a tribe nor an ethnic group. It's simply a dialect within a larger ethnic group. There's not a single sensible person that doesn't know what that larger ethnic group is. 2 Likes |

Two pains the ibos will continue to be pass down from generations to generations! 1. Gowon with the help of awolowo stopping ojuku and his people from dominating the south south and snatching them from ibos domination of their oil! 2. Tinubu pummelling them with all the lies and propangandas against him in the last election! 6 Likes 3 Shares |

Research the story of mbata father and how he came to ENEKA. Mbata is originally an Igbo man. This is a clear fact 2 Likes |

Arostar2023: I want to dig this with U bro. Can we talk about this maturely ? Okay, after the English colonised the world, including us in Nigeria, we bear English names and practices their culture, but as powerful as the English are, they couldn't wipe out our native culture. As powerful as the french are, they couldn't wipe out the native language, culture and tradition of these countries that they colonised. So, how come an Ikwere man whose dieties bear same name with the dieties in other Igbo communities, his culture and tradition same as that of Igbos in other Igbo lands, none of his practices look like the Bini one, claims that he is not igbo? What happened to their native language and culture ? If the powerful English and french people couldn't wipe out the native languages and cultures of those they colonised, how come the Igbos could do it? Does it mean that the Igbos are so powerful that they colonised Ikwere, and wipe out their native identity ? When some of these people claim they are Binis, I laugh because Beni was an empire made of many people from different ethic groups. It is very possible that after the empire collapsed, many returned to their original home lands. U don't share anything in common with Bini people. Even the British histories about early Nigeria regarded these guys are Igbos. They met these people who share same culture and tradition and call them Igbos. They were called ibo before. Infact to show U how deadly this strategy about denying being Igbo, could U believe that some people in Anioma are saying they not Igbo? Same Anioma where the first military could leader came from whose action contributed massively to the civil war. I wish the time can go back to that time so that Igbos will deny those people. The fact that there are people from Anioma who deny being Igbo shows that this was a pure strategy. After the Igbos lost a war and were struggling to get serious position in Nigeria politics, people had to deny being Igbo. Many never gave their kids Igbo names anymore to help them navigate Nigeria. Some in civil service couldn't get promoted becus of being Igbos. I have said it many times that the civil war was a disaster to the Igbo nation. 7 Likes |

It's a good thing they renamed all their street in Port Harcourt to indigenous names. Biafrans would have claimed that city. If not for Wike they would have been sit at home every Monday in PH 7 Likes 3 Shares |

gidgiddy:Many people don't know there are two kindreds in Ikwerre. The Bini migrants came in much later from Bini and in small population and met the Igbo Ikwerres from Ohaji/Egbema part of Imo state. The Bini migrants got assimilated and outnumbered so over time, started speaking Igbo. Till today, such families know they're from Bini and that's why each time Bini ancestry is raised, they insist they're not Igbo. Unfortunately, they are more vocal than the Igbo ones, they have also held more political positions, so tend to dictate the pace and path of the entire Ikwerre. 2 Likes |

In your meaningful reasoning can you explain it to me as you would to a 10-year old why Ikwerre is an ethnic group but Ijebu is not. Can you go ahead to explain how Ikwerre is a distinct ethnic group but speaks an Igbo dialect! AguluLiar: |

Bede2u:The delusion amongst the Igbo borders on psychological issues. How many oil do you folks have in the SE? Even Edo that has very meager deposit produce more oil than the enter SE combined! If there is a person who speaks your language in far away land, rather than you trying to drag him at all cost to associate with you, it is better to let such decide for himself where and who he wants to associate himself with 4 Likes |

Arostar2023: I am 100% right Wike is doing what he is doing because of his political ambition. Are you saying that the earlier Ikweres like Obi Wali,Prof Wonodi,Chief Aguma,Chief Oriji who are more educated and more exposed than Wike, and identified themselves as igbos didn't know their ancestry ? Asari did more than Wike when he was looking for patronage from the FG but today he is singing a new song. This one too will come to pass |

Exactly! They want to force their Biafra on the Niger Delta people including the Akwa Ibom people. They told us that we are under igbo.. I laugh them... They come to your place and build their businesses, build their houses and live in peace, but go to their places to buy land, either they kidnap you or unknown gunmen kpai you. They love to go to where there is peaceful coexistence to claim as their own. Igbos are just like Fulani people... Conquering mentality. Godwin4444: 3 Likes |

NOETHNICITY:First of all, most oil currently in Rivers are in the sea and Ijaw/Ogoni areas. So yea, even if Edo has more oil than SE, we still have more oil than Ikwere. Two, far away land you say? Well Ikwere and Igbo share a direct border. Nothing separates us, not water, not even artificial state creation because there are many towns in Rivers like Obiigbo who don't have identity crisis. So go and sit on something sharp, talking about something you know nothing about. |

Spy360:Is language the main yardstick in identifying someone's tribe? Are Brazilians Portuguese? Are Brazilians Yoruba? Are Switzerlanders Germans? Language is language. Nothing more nothing less. And for your information, an Igbo man cannot understand Ikwerre language. They're two different languages with some similar words 5 Likes |
