I used night very often last year. I had 2 bad experiences, but the rest went smoothly.

I understand the fears of insecurity and accidents, but I dey put my cares on my "Chi", and leave it there.

Once you have a smooth journey, it will be hard to hate Night travelling.

May your chi always be with you.

This is true

Decided to take the evening bus because when I checked every transport, almost all of them are scheduled to move in the afternoon/evening cause of less patronage. Most people are moving tomorrow

Bonny way transport ways

That money you want to waste on transport, why not keep it and wait for next batch, then look for another plug. No go waste one year for farm land.

Safe Journey .

This is Iddo/Oyingbo abi? Most of their luxurious buses going to the north in that side always move in the evening . That’s the same place I boarded while going back after the first 3 weeks camp and the break we were given after resuming at PPA .

The good thing about traveling at night is that u will get to ur destination during the day and u will be able to find ur way around .

Blue, the Global South and the Golden Billion (North America + Europe + AU/NZ) are on a collision course.
It's set in stone.

Nigeria is hanging out with the BRICS crowd because it is and will remain the premier geopolitical forum of the Global South.
We have no choice. Even Chile, an OECD country and firmly keyed into the Western economic system is seeking entry.

These are the fundamentals.
So when we made the decision to get in, Aso Rock had done the calculus on risk and what not.
The potential of a future hawkish POTUS has been factored in. It'll be bewildering if we didn't take that into account.

Now, with Trump as #47, and this applies to any other confrontational POTUSes, it's all about deft skill in geopolitics.
India, Brazil, and UAE are not going to be treated as harshly as China or Iran. All are BRICS members.
Brazil needs the West for Embraer. Ambani, India's richest man, was at Trump's inauguration.
We want carve outs and if we play our cards right, we'll get them.
Essentially, it's not as much about BRICS as a group, but what we narrowly do via our bilateral ties with the West.
Else, we'll sleepwalk into a b100% tariff while even China is getting exemptions. We'll be the example dangled about as a cautionary tale while the ringleaders with more cachet get a slap on the wrist.
That's how Biden enacted global chip export restrictions and an ally like Poland (third largest military in NATO after US and Turkey) got shafted.

That's the danger.

I'm not that concerned about it because Tinubu is a failure but not an id**t.
It'll take a monumental screwup for that worse case scenario to come to fruition.

A 100% tariff will hurt us.
Trump wants all of the Global South to perform a pilgrimage like less powerful nation states did when a new Shahanshah, Caesar, or Qing Emperor came on the scene. Essentially, tell me why you shouldn't have a target on your back.

In Trumpian fashion, the delivery is bombastic; but it will happen with most POTUSes going forward because BRICS has the potential to be a check on the US's socioeconomic influence. The folks at Washington simply cannot have that.

The chip export restriction I mentioned earlier shows that this is the bipartisan way the US plans to relate with an increasingly economically vibrant Global South. Biden dropped the hammer and I don't think Trump will rescind the executive action.
I've been looking into a hobbyist rig to natively run open source AI models. It could become a serious challenge to future-proof the setup because the richer second-world countries will set up shell companies in third world countries to buy and redirect our quotas.
If the rest of the world can't get the GPUs, we can't create service exports in an emerging industry that'll define human civilization. Probably worse than a tariff even.

So, it's not like this is not something we have to think about. Or it's exclusive to Trump, ergo it's peculiar and a more run-off-the-mill POTUS wouldn't put us on notice.
Frankly, things are headed in a direction where we'll ultimately either be a target or collateral damage. No in-between.
Might as well be a target; there's safety in numbers. We play the game and deal with the fallout.

-Lord

So basically America still wants to be the one calling the shots . And they will use divide and rule to keep BRICS members in check .

I don’t like to eat while traveling, just water till I get to My destination to avoid any inconvenience in the journey

The people there advised us to also hold our cardigan cause of the cold cause they’re not stopping at any time unlike luxury silver that make stops

I better not read this guy is captured alive. The soldiers that get to him first must do the needful. Make nobody tell me say he will be useful in gathering intel because that na full cap! If he is captured alive, rest assured he will get released.

They’ve moved it from Mangu to a temporary location, I think insecurity is the issue for moving from there

I'd advise you to approach it from a positive mindset.

One of my best life experiences was when I served in Afuze (Owan East LG), Edo state. My parents were relentless in trying to convincing me to redeploy because it was Edo and all they have heard, but I refused.

Today, I never fail to show kindness to any Edo person I come across because, my goodness, they showed me a lot of genuine love and took me like their own. Infact, I don't allow anyone speak evil about Edo people near me. Their mothers are the best and they have some of best singing voices I have ever heard. I never paid a dime on market days and the guys, while crazy, were just as kind. I still stay in touch with a few and plan to visit the next time I am in Nigeria.

I guess I am just trying to help you see that beyond the issues, this is a life experience that has the capacity of shaping or reshaping your views about certain aspects of life..

Embrace it!

If u can, please redeploy back to Lagos after ur 3 weeks in camp . In fact , while in camp start processing ur redeployment .

The only advice I can give any graduate posted outside Lagos, Rivers , FCT , etc where things Dey happen and headquarters of companies are located is to relocate back to Lagos and start the job search journey earlier .

I consider spending one full year teaching or working in an LGA council in a place like Plateau or any other part of the north , east , southwest , etc a complete waste of one year.

If u are Lagos within that service year , u will have an advantage over ur peers in the sense that u can apply for graduate trainee roles , internship and other entry level roles while ur mates are busy focusing on teaching in one obscure village .

If u are lucky , u may even get job while still observing ur service year. If I had known this during my own time , I wouldn’t had wasted that full service year teaching , eating and sleeping .

Hahaha. Nwanne, you don enter everywhere be that na.

You are absolutely right. Afuze to Ihievbe is between 15-20 minutes or less but you can immediately tell the difference when they speak. If you dey find fight, call a Warraeke man an Afuze man or vice versa.

Plantain business na real opportunity for anyone who can manage the transportation of goods. The road from Afuze to Auchi was newly constructed and pretty good while I was there, I don't know about now though. Oshiomhole's house is in Etsako, the view is beautiful!
