I'd advise you to approach it from a positive mindset.

One of my best life experiences was when I served in Afuze (Owan East LG), Edo state. My parents were relentless in convincing me to redeploy because it was Edo and all they have heard, but I refused.

Today, I never fail to show kindness to any Edo person I come across because, my goodness, they showed me a lot of genuine love and took me like their own. Infact, I don't allow anyone speak evil about Edo people near me. Their mothers are the best and they have some of best singing voices I have ever heard. I never paid a dime on market days and the guys, while crazy, were just as kind. I still stay in touch with a few and plan to visit the next time I am in Nigeria.

I guess I am just trying to help you see that beyond the issues, this is a life experience that has the capacity of shaping or reshaping your views about certain aspects of life..

Embrace it!

Respect Baba🤝,Thanks for the PR

This sub na for Homegrown Edo boys cheesy,na just say dem no dey like any form of oppression in any disguise, dem go begin dey rake at the slightest form of it,na only Oba dem dey fear....

But we non-homegrown are the chillest and more laidback cheesy...

Our mothers? Just dey salute them ko iye/ iye koyo every minute, you don touch their "mumu button"..

This applies to every tribe in Nigeria,we are good people with beautiful cultures,na our politicians and elites be our problem and dey bring differences...

Most Nigerians are actually very good and kind people when you relate with them in real life with an open mind and you don't have airs around you

Even when I served in Bauchi some of our corpers came with this mind against the natives but I was just determined to get the best out of it and It was a nice experience overall

Some of my students tracked me down on SM and still keep in touch till today

True
When I also served in Benue, my mother was angry why I chose such far place it was threat and by force I visited Lagos within the one year of service
People are naturally kind I think Nigeria just made everyone turn evil and aggressive
I remember in the market, the women already know us some give us free food stuff and if we eventually paid you will know we underpaid them
During Ramadan nko, the hausa in the community literally booked us to come and break fast with them
Round table feast with variety of food, sometimes of we skip the visitation they will find us and ask if they offended us anyway
We have to open up that we are not use to this lifestyle and we are ashamed

Decided to take the evening bus because when I checked every transport, almost all of them are scheduled to move in the afternoon/evening cause of less patronage. Most people are moving tomorrow

Bonny way transport ways
Safe journey bro.

I was speaking of the insecurity of the nation and not the place I was going to

Thank you for the advice and I’ll approach it with positive mind to enjoy the place and I’ve always been the kinda person to blend with anybody wherever I find Myself

A friend of mine that went to camp in plateau last year was telling that I’ll enjoy that place and she assured Me.

If u can, please redeploy back to Lagos after ur 3 weeks in camp . In fact , while in camp start processing ur redeployment .

The only advice I can give any graduate posted outside Lagos, Rivers , FCT , etc where things Dey happen and headquarters of companies are located is to relocate back to Lagos and start the job search journey earlier .

I consider spending one full year teaching or working in an LGA council in a place like Plateau or any other part of the north , east , southwest , etc a complete waste of one year.

If u are Lagos within that service year , u will have an advantage over ur peers in the sense that u can apply for graduate trainee roles , internship and other entry level roles while ur mates are busy focusing on teaching in one obscure village .

If u are lucky , u may even get job while still observing ur service year. If I had known this during my own time , I wouldn’t had wasted that full service year teaching , eating and sleeping .
The reason for redeploying is so as to finish My ICAN exams

I don’t support what Burna did to him o, but Akpi too supposed rest . He has said a whole lot of crazy stuff in the past sha . He’s a tribalist who says all sorts of shiiii about Yoruba and has even talked down on several of his fellow musicians at different point in time .

He can keep making his music without trying to be controversial and denigrating others .

Good ! While writing ur exams , do well to watch out for graduate trainee programs of EY, KPMG, Deloitte , PWC , Accessbank , UBA , Coronation Merchant bank , Heirs Holdings , etc .

Apply to as many of those companies , make sure u write as many aptitude tests as u can and attend as many interviews as u can .

While ur mates are stuck in some village teaching some primary/secondary school subject that adds little or no value to them , u are actively navigating ur way in the labour market . And u might be fortunate to land a good paying job before or by the end of ur service year.

Due to the the serious issues in the Nigerian labor market , it is advisable u start early .

i dont know if it still works - but if you get gmat and gre test prep books that is what they used to base their tests on. sometimes they copied and pasted. quite literally i must have gotten 100/100 in the test of my old place when i applied because they def dubbed one of those books . keep in mind this is 2003/4

Yes u are right , most of those aptitude tests are GMAT, SHL , Dragnet and the likes . I used to have some of those practice questions and answers in my mail too but since I had long passed that stage of writing aptitude tests and most of the people I encouraged too passed that stage , I don’t have them any longer .

I’m sure if he ransack the jobs/vacancy section on Nairaland he will be able to get some of those materials .
