This is the 'false' contribution that the new tax bill seeks to correct. This contribution is on the basis of HQ, not on the basis of where the service or goods were consumed. If you do it that way, Lagos and Rivers will not appear to have contributed so much.

Lagos has Oil companies, MTN, Airtel, Dangote, Breweries

Rivers has Oil companies
But why Ekiti donate more vat than all the south east states bar anambra

The main purpose of this report is to redicle some states and also to divert attention. Why not just introduce resource control. Instead of beating around the bush, control the resources from your state (including vat) and pay tax to the center, why is this difficult to do?

Don't mind them

All these ones na to divert attention
If they genuinely want the economy to work. Everything should be open to show where the Nation is lagging behind

So Oyo contributed N272 billion and received less than half while Imo contributed N4 billion and received almost 18 times same amount. Is that supposed to be a state or a syphoning structure? Anambra, Imo, Enugu, Ebonyi, and Abia should be merged as one state. Wtf.

God bless Tinubu on the Tax Reform Bill. Very soon, the Bayelsa model will apply where contribution and receipt are almost the same. Monkey wey dey work no complain, na the baboons wey dey chop come dey complain of marginalisation.

Let's not even talk about Lagos before some economic migrants claim they developed Lagos. Lagos contributed 2.7 trillion and received 460 billion.

Whatbdo you expect. Na Boko haram, sharia and useless votes those things dey contribute for Nigeria. EVERYONE WILL GET TIRED OF THEM ONE DAY. Those criminals can't continue to hold everyone by the balls.

[quote author=BlackyOne post=133852542]Lagos is a thief, VATs for Multinationals are paid to Lagos state but they operate and sell their products across the country.

Which state does consumer tax from FMCG, Breweries etc go to? How about Oil corporation operating in South South and South East while their headquarters is in Lagos.

Why is it that it's only Lagos Ports that receives over 90% of all cargoes imported into the country, why is Warri port, Koko port, Calabar port, Onne (operating at low capacity), not functioning as they should? ..., the waterway not safe.... Lagos State spent alot on It's water way security wise and very acomodative

Same Bayelsa your western brothers say are lazy.
Lagos is a combinative input of the potentials from all 36 states, plus privilege of having a functioning sea port due to politricks.

Imo contributes $200m worth of oil a year
Imo produces 17,000 barrels of crude per day. Brent Crude currently sells for $78 per barrel. I can help you do the math

17,000 x 365 = 6,205,000 barrels per year.

6,205,000 x $78 = $483,990,000

Based on the current exchange rate of N1626 for $1, Imo State rakes in N786,967,740,000bn per year for the Zoo.

Now how much does Imo State get per month as Federal allocation? Imo gets an average N9bn per month as allocation. Multiply it by 12.

These figures exclude revenue from natural gas... And Imo State has the largest gas reserves in Nigeria.

Now tell us who is stealing from who

Ndi ara!

You have not stop from this your empty boast with nothing to show for it. I serve in the east and I see how retarded the states are in terms of commercial and industrialization and you are here saying you will leave the states that are doing well economically. You think those state got to where they are today in one day? If Igbos go back their states today, it will take the decades to get to where southwest are today and southwest will still not stop growing. Imagine ordinary Ekiti that was created few years ago already doing far better that many states from Igbo land and you are shameless talking trash here

My dear skull miner is it my fault that you were posted to a remote village in the SE? You should've relocated your camp to the city in the east after all, there's villages and cities in every states

BTW, that sounds like you problem not mine, I also served in sad waste was posted to the a village but I switched to the city and I know how backward it will be should non indigenes withdraw, you and I know how lazy your kinsmen can be

The states that are in top 10 of the chart are doing very well, kudos to them but you see those ones that are below 10, especially Imo and Abia state, there are huge disappointed.

What do you expect from a state whose successive governors made only one city - Owerri to be viable economically. They continue to build Tower of Babel city of the state capital, Owerri while they watch the other cities that started Imo state with Owerri to go down the drain.
It's not an excuse my friend, Edo state is a one city state but yet VAT collection is impressive, as you can see from the chart that she is in top 10.

Bro,
VAT is being charged/deducted from the H/O. (Where the services Originates).

Why Oyo State is also pulling some stunts is that for the past 10-13years, industrial clusters are appearing in Oyo (especially Ibadan). Places like:
1. Oluyole Industrial Estate in Ring Road (extending to Oriya Challenge/New Garage)
2. Toll Gate-Soka-Boluwaji corridor
3. NBC Plant at Asejire
4. NB Plc at Alakia
5. Awe in Oyo Town
6. Then QSR's, Hospitality Service Outlets too are paying VAT

Also, the almost quiet environment (security-wise) contributed to the upsurge of businesses especially in Ibadan.

Common go and sit down somewhere nothing like any daylight robbery imo have oil and gas which the federal govt controls and drills daily they only give imo just 13% out of 100% of what they take out so don't judge imo state by the meagre tax they remit cause that's a total wrong way to calculate what each state in nigeria contributes to the national pulse.

To whom much is given much is expected. Lagos, PH and Kano has more FG works and properties. SE has almost no FG properties. In fact, i think, SE is still being cheated. How many FG project that will generate revenue is going on in the SE? What has the FG built in the SE? the only project the FG has built in SE for the past 50years and its not generating any revenue is 2nd Niger bridge nothing more.
Are your state and LGA deprived of monthly allocations since 1999? Is Oyo and River state enjoying or enjoyed any special privileges from the FG?

So why is Ogun not generating good vat with all the companies. Why is ekiti generating more than Ondo state. Vat is different from igr. States that consume more beer, more hotels, clubs, events would have more vat

Then Lagos was FCT, it was only Lagos Island up to parts of Yaba. It didn't extend to Lekki or even Oniru.
Lagos already had an airport in 1947, before Nigeria's independence.

I hope in the future, you have more tenable excuses to give your children for the backwardness of their ancestors.
