Abure Loyalists Allege Obi Culpable In Lp’s Crisis by PressMyButton: 8:14pm On Jan 26
Some chieftains of the Labour Party loyal to the National Chairman of the party, Julius Abure, have raised a motion for the LP presidential candidate in the 2023 election, Peter Obi, to be sanctioned over the role he played in the internal strife of the party.

They warned that Obi might face his worst electoral defeat in the 2027 presidential election if he continued to destabilise and factionalise the party.

They vented their frustration in separate interviews with Sunday PUNCH .

The warning came three days after Abure expressed optimism that the internal crisis rocking the party would be resolved well ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The national chairman declared that he was prepared to reconcile with Obi, Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, and other aggrieved chieftains of the party.

Abure’s comment comes in the wake of last Friday’s judgment of the Court of Appeal recognising him as the National Chairman of the LP.

The court nullified the LP National Caretaker Committee headed by Nenadi Usman, set up by the Obi and Otti’s camp to steer the affairs of the party.

In response to the judgment, the Usman-led panel has headed to the Supreme Court, signalling an elongation of the LP internal strife.

One of the chieftains of the party, Dr Blessing Elaigwu, observed that the LP had stagnated in the past one year due to lack of leadership from Obi and the needless litigation his caretaker committee had brought on the party.

Elaigwu, who is the convener of the Alliance for All Labour Party Professionals and Stakeholders, therefore, warned the leadership of the party to completely severe any ties with the former Anambra State governor if he went ahead to drag the party to the Supreme Court following his Appeal Court victory.

He said, “You will recall that Obi and the current Abia State Governor, Dr Alex Otti, had in September last year, convened an illegal stakeholders’ meeting in Umuahia to remove the Abure-led executive and handpicked their cronies, including Senator Nenadi Usman and Senator Darlington Nwokocha, as the Chairman and Secretary, respectively.

“But INEC denied them recognition which resulted in them approaching both the lower court and Appeal Court where they lost. If Peter Obi thinks that he wants to destroy the party before moving to other political party as being speculated, he must know that he is destroying himself.

“What exactly has Abure and his executives done to deserve this back-stabbing? Obi was frustrated out of the PDP and Abure offered him a platform in the Labour Party.

“What a good leader would have done, given the momentum of the 2023 election, is to consolidate on the progress made and get ready for 2027.”

Another chieftain, Cornel Max-Nduaguibe, also urged Obi not to kill the momentum of their 2023 general elections exploit.

Max-Nduaguibe, who is also a member of the Obidient Movement, pleaded with the former Anambra State governor to reconsider his position against the party.

He said, “I urge him to use his influence to encourage all party members to put aside their differences and work towards a common goal. We must present a united front to achieve success. To build a stronger party, we must prioritise transparency, accountability and inclusivity.

“This involves fostering open communication among party members, ensuring that all voices are heard, and promoting a culture of respect and tolerance.

“I call on you and all LP members to take immediate action to address our internal conflicts. Let us work together to build a stronger, more united party that can effectively serve the Nigerian people. The time for unity is now.”

When contacted, Obi’s media aide, Umar Ibrahim, to our correspondent that his principal was not prepared to banter words with the Abure’s camp or engage in any form of proxy war.

“His Excellency Peter Obi is not interested in an endless drama or name calling. For that, we don’t respond to Julius Abure’s shenanigans,” he stated.

I have no more words for Peter Obi, he lacks leadership qualities. Is this how to repay a party that rescued from the jaw of shame?.
In APGA, he has become an orphan, Soludo is waiting there. In LP, Abure's camp are not having any of his nonsense. In PDP, Wike dey wait for am. In APC, don't even dare.. In other smaller parties, they'd deal with him with a long spoon given his atrocious antecedent, even if they give him the ticket, he will collect double defeat. He knows he is at a cross road and that's why he said he would retire as a village school teacher in 2027.

Best Peter Obi gently moves on to Accord Party, the foul stench of him and Alex Otti in the Labour Party can no longer be covered.

No gravitas, no charisma, no personal expenses disclosure despite the promise.

If he is collecting anyhow from Abure within Nigeria, how will he cope on the international scene.

Even if he polled a billion votes, Peter Obi is currently clearly making people hold their nose within LP from the smell emanating from him, resson why there is that much turbulence over there. Now, he and Otti are smelling so much, they are at serious risk of being expelled.

He needs to go and pollute another party, I suggest Accord Party.

And for an Obidient to call me classless is laughable, go and read what your felow Obidients say about President Tinubu. Hypocrites can dish out yanfu yanfu but can't take anything against their fake saint.

By the way, I didn't vote President Tinubu or APC and have never done so.

That’s what you and your co-travelers are hoping to achieve with your daily defamation. But don’t worry, the bulk of Obis votes won’t come from the Christians this time, mark me.

You will get over my words about Peter Obi, you hear.

Peter Obi went from being guaranteed the Labour Party ticket for 2027 without any primaries to now not being certain he will even be in the party by then.

The smell is too much.

Obi has never contested for a party ticket in his political career.

Ojukwu handed him the APGA gubernatorial ticket for Anambra state governorship elections after getting Obi to swear on oath to him(Ojukwu) never to defect from the party.

Obi was hoping on the PDP zoning the ticket to the SE and from there getting himself endorsed by the PDP SE caucus but this collapsed after Wike insisted on throwing the ticket wide open.

Obi then ran to LP and got the ticket without going through the necessary party nomination round.

Obi is determined that there will be no party primaries and that he should be given the ticket on a platter of gold as the case was in 2023 elections.

But the obidient IPOB mob who invaded the LP decided to oust Abure and control the party which Obi gave his full backing.to.

The obidient IPOB mob planned a coup to oust Abure so as to be able to cash out from donations and also to ensure Obi is recycled on the LP ballot without going through a primary vote.

Abure saw all this and quickly secured a faction to have him re-elected as the LP national chairman.

Obi and his IPOB mob then decided to form a care taker committee from where they declared Abure's reelection as party chairman as null and void.

Abure went to court and secured a ruling recognising him and his exco board as the authentic leaders of the party.

Abure then made a press conference declaring that there will be no automatic ticket for anyone including the sole LP Governor, Alex Otti .

Abure is saying the damn truth when he states that Obi is the cause of the crisis in LP and it all boils down to Obi plotting with his IPOB Obidient mob to seize control of the party and from there have them endorse Obi without recourse to party primaries .

Why is obi afraid of contesting for his own party ticket ? The reason is simple , and it's because Obi has never been subjected to internal party politics.

This is the same man who is no longer welcomed in APGA despite being the first politician to win gubernatorial race for the party. Since he never secured the APGA ticket through the normal political negotiation and alliance within APGA and LP, how do you think he could manage the two parties as their leader whom none of the party members endorsed and voted for ?

They accuse PBAT of stealing their SE slot in the APC as if SE APC delegates did not vote for Tinubu to emerge as the party candidate. In their usual greedy manner, they also accused PDP of not given the SE the ticket. The only party they did not harass for the ticket was that of NNP party controlled by Kwankwasso.

This easy mode and lazy approach to democracy and entitlement mentality is why the SE will still remain no way in national politics and this is the very same thing that Obi epitomises and oozes off.

As for the PDP, no other individual has caused so much havoc to them than obi starting with how obi litigated his way to clinch the governorship of Anambra from same PDP.

When Obi then broke his oath never to leave APGA to join the PDP, Goodluck foolishly appointed Obi to head his SE 2015 re-election committee - a decision that didn't sit well with longstanding PDP stalwarts in the SE. Complaints arose over how obi refused to mobilize funds meant for the elections in the SE until the last minute. This is one of the major reasons that there was voter apathy in the zone as most seasoned PDP stalwarts could not mobilize for the campaigns owing to Obi refusing to release funds on time and when he did, it was inadequate. Ask yourself why it was only obi among all GEJ/Sambo 2015 reelection campaign coordinators that was never arrested by the Buhari government ? Because Obi's mismanagement of the SE PDP presidential committee is why Buhari won that election.

Obi will later come back and haunt the PDP when Atiku had him as his running mate in the 2019 Presidential elections. The few remaining PDP stalwarts in the SE who did not defect to the APC when GEJ conceded defeat to Buhari, remained more lukewarm to support Atiku owing to his choice of Obi as running mate. Even Fr. Mbaka expressed his displeasure of Obi being Atiku's running mate.

Fast forward to 2023 elections and we can all recall how Obi played a major spoiler role to the PDP after leaving the party to join LP to contest the elections . If Obi had not been on that ticket , PBAT might have not had won that election.

So you can see that Obi is in no way interested in internal party politics neither is he a party man as we can glean from the ignoble roles he has played against political parties he had been a member of and benefited from.

Abure should ensure that there must be primaries conducted in LP for every position including that of Presidential ticket.

I want to see how SW, NW, NE and NC delegates will all foolishly queue behind Obi after witnessing how obi has been attempting to corner every party position to his own Ibo people .

He must be subjected to go through the rigorous process of securing the LP ticket through the democratic process.

Let's see if his bigoted tribal cretins in the obidient IPOB fold can secure Obi the ticket on their own accord.

Abure will open the floor to every candidate from every tribe, region and creed to contest.

There will not be any consensus agreement to hand it over to obi neither will the ticket be zoned to the SE.

Obi must work for the ticket.

ABURE IS ACTING SCRIPT THAT I FIND COUNTER PRODUCTIVE TO BOTH LABOUR PARTY AND PETER OBI. LP IS NO WHERE WITHOUT OBI AND ELECTED LP OFFICIALS IN GOVERNMENT.
So why don't abure humble himself for once.

Being unable to unify one's political party is a sign of weakness....

Ideally, any candidate from PDP and LP where there are loads of internal party crisis shouldn't be entertained.

Anyone that will lead a complex country like Nigeria, should be able to put their political parties under control
