Ok.. I just observed a drastic reduction in the Units given when I purchased electricity from AEDC. (See screenshots - the first shot was the unit given in Dec for same amount 73.4kwh, but now drastically reduced to 36.7kwh (100% reduction)

Did anyone observe this..

I thought maybe they changed my Band, so I went to their website to check the meter status. But it was the same Band B.

Just for context, the 5k loaded above would last for one week previously but now it would last for 3 days because of the 100% increment in cost. In a flat with few modest electronics, no ACs running. What that mean is that we would pay close to 50k before the end of the month. Previously 20-25k.

The thing is the surreptitious way they executed this.. no noise made, no announcements, just booooom, like a thief in the night.

With everything Nigerians are currently going through, this is heartless and insensitive on the part of everyone involved in this backdoor Tariff increment.. from the DISCos to the Regulators to those making this draconian policies, that seek to sniff life out of average Nigerians.
Omo, I bought token last week , 16.6 units for 1k.

I just bought again like 1 hour ago, only to get 4.4 units for 1k . This na with low 130-150V wey dem Dey supply o.

I sorry for business owners right now. The Chinese guys in my office premises I once wrote about that opened a nylon making factory and poached all the workers in the neighbourhood, I hear just laid off half their workers. Hear their monthly electricity bill runs into 30m+.
The event center and mini hotel next door is contemplating shut down as their bill is about 7m.
Imagine a whole UCH Ibadan has not had electricity for 2 months because their bill is over 400m and rising.
Bros, very few business can operate with such high cost of power. Solar is not an option because the cost of setting up solar to run a 30 room hotel will be crazy, not to talk of changing all the ACs to inverter units.
This people are killing the economy gradually.

I live in Ile Ife. On May 29, 2024, I bought #10,000 and I got 168 units. The same #10,000 gave me 326 units before that. I used the units I purchased in May till December 9th, 2024. I don't use much power except ironing and pumping water. I even switch off when going out and return late in the evening.
I bought #5000 on December 9th, 2024, and was given 68 units. I used till 20th December 2024, travelled and returned in January 2025 and used till 27th January 2025 when the units finished.

I bought another #5000 worth only to be given 22 units meaning in just a month #5000 worth of power has reduced from 68 units to 22 units.
I had to buy #10,000 worth on Friday to keep just in case, only to observe that it is now 44 units. Something that was giving above 300 units. What is the rationale used to justify this increment?

They likely haven't classified that meter under Band A yet, which could be the reason for the issue. He might have bought the meter from someone and installed it himself, leading to the discrepancy. The authorities usually conduct inspections and should identify this in due course.

He is being charged 136 naira per kWh ,that clearly shows it's not a band A charge
