Nollywood filmmaker sentenced to five years imprisonment for drug trafficking
A Federal High Court in Lagos has convicted and sentenced a 40-year-old America-trained Nollywood filmmaker, Mbadiwe Emeka, to five years imprisonment for trafficking in 17. 30 kilograms of Canada Loud, Cannabis Sativa, a narcotic drug similar to cocaine, LSD, and heroin.

Justice Ambrose Lewis-Allagoa, handed down the jail term on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, after Emeka pleaded guilty to the two counts of unlawful importation of the drug by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency.

Earlier, when the convict was arraigned, the NDLEA prosecution counsel, Abu Ibrahim, told the court that the convict was arrested on December 24, 2024, during the examination of incoming cargo with Airway Bill No: 00637337285, from Huston, United States of America at the National Handling Company Import Shed, a Customs Area/Point of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos State.

Ibrahim told the court that the convict had procured one Uzoekwe Ugochukwu James to import the banned drug.

According to the prosecutor, the offences committed contravened Sections 21(1)(e) and are punishable under Sections 11(a), 20 (1) (a) and 20 (2) (a)of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency Cap. N30, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.

However, Emeka pleaded guilty to the two counts.

Following his guilty plea, the prosecutor reviewed the facts of the case and tendered all exhibits in the charge.

Meanwhile, the convict’s lawyer, Dennis Warri, pleaded with the court to temper justice with mercy in sentencing his client.

He pleaded with the court to consider his client’s timely guilty plea, as a sign of remorse and for not wasting the court’s time.

Warri urged the court to give the convict a non-custodial sentence or a fine option in lieu of the custodial sentence.

After listening to the submissions of parties, Justice Lewis-Allagoa sentenced the convicted filmmaker to five years imprisonment.

The judge however ordered him to pay N3m in lieu of the jail term.

The court also ordered that the bulk of the exhibit and the iPhone 12 pro-Max be forfeited to the Federal Government of Nigeria.

Hmmmm! Make I no talk because every discerning mind already knows wetin I wan talk.

They make the loudest noise everywhere they go yet, they have the most skeletons in their cupboard.

Look at that Hotelier that was caught at Ejigbo yesterday sodomizing 16year old boys.

There is no single Family Tree in their lineage that has not been corrupted with the abominable acts of homosexuality & Cocaine-Trafficking.

Cho Cho Cho Cho Cho Cho! They will be running their odoriferous mouths as if they put fire into their filthy anuses. Their elders ooo, their youngs ooo, illiterates ooo, educated ooo - ALL OF THEM ARE THE SAME EVERYWHERE.

I remember when Oshodi and Yaba were demolished for reconstruction, if you see what was uncovered in the “2 by 2 shops” of these criminals selling okrika & lingerie; you would be amazed. Guns, Human Skulls & all manner of fetish stuffs.

Please, pay attention to the kind of news coming out of their 5 Landlocked States (especially Anambra). The magnitude of Tragedy, Calamity & Misfortunes that keep consuming them in droves. They curse & denigrate the land that nurtured them from birth and still expect to prosper or flourish? E No Possible Na.

Look at the way their vacuous elders keep mounting pressure on Tinubu to release Nnamdi Kanu? These senseless people did nothing to caution their “Loved-Terrorist” when he was busy inciting violence & cursing the Yorubas & Hausa/Fulanis.

The number of housemaids & family relatives that their women have killed or injured - ( due to their unaccommodating & witchcraft spirit ) in their region are uncountable.

To buttress my point, Type “STELLA NWADIGO” on Google and tell me what you see. That is the name of the Teacher that almost broke the skull of a 3-year old pupil at Christ-Mitots School in Ikotodu last month.

Gri-Gri , Gra-Gra everywhere they go. When they now begin suffering the consequences of their actions, that is when you see them saying “Temper Justice With Mercy”.

From 1960 till date, they have not changed; And like snakes, THEY CAN NEVER CHANGE. Go to Reno Omokri’s Timeline on Twitter and see how disgusting, abominable & incorrigible these people are - with their senseless & illogical comments.

The last time I had anyone of them as a friend was 30-years ago since I discovered their nature.

In conclusion; Leave your children & loved ones with them at your own peril.

***Make una hide my comment as usual. It doesn’t change a thing***

Shiooooor!

The ease it takes to make money from drug trafficking is why it is a business that one can be lured into easily....

it takes one with high moral values and very ethical not to go into it.

Many Nigerian Millionaires are in this business.....

Do 5 years time in jail OR pay 3 million cash and go.

Emeka will choose the latter as a wise man.

Say no to Drugs.

He's lucky to be arrested by NDLEA instead of any of these Asian countries that would have sentenced him to death or life imprisonment.

I thought drug trafficking attracts a life sentence. Whatever be the case, I feel 5 years is too small a punishment for drug trafficking. That is not enough to serve as deterrent, it should be 10-15 years.

The judge even gave him a 3m fine option. Are we encouraging drug trafficking in the country now? This is ridiculous.

What's government going to do with the iPhone 12? Probably auction it or convert it to their own use. At least, one arm of government will take personal possession of that phone. Then the drugs, will it be burnt or kept for other reasons best known to NDLEA.

The court also ordered that the bulk of the exhibit and the iPhone 12 pro-Max be forfeited to the Federal Government of Nigeria.
