A[b] former member of the Labour Party (LP) Kenneth Okonkwo has asked President Bola Tinubu, Peter Obi, and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to step aside from vying for the presidential seat in the next election.

Okonkwo was a spokesman of the LP presidential campaign team in the 2023 general election, working alongside Obi who flew the party’s flag in that poll.

But two years down the line, the Nollywood actor-turned-politician has backtracked from his support for Obi, asking the LP chieftain, Atiku and Tinubu to step aside for other candidates in Nigeria’s next round of elections.

When asked on Channels Television’s Politics Today if he still wants the trio to give way for other candidates in the next general election, he said, “I said it and I maintain it because in Nigeria, people will not give you their mandate and you treat it with levity.

“You must do everything decisively to secure it. Unfortunately, nature has bestowed on us the duty that in Nigeria, you will not only win an election, but you have to fight for your mandate,” Okonkwo said on Tuesday.

The former LP chieftain said though he worked with Obi in the 2023 election, that is now in the past.

“I still maintain that. Whatever happened in 2023 should stay in 2023, ” the actor said, ruling out backing the former Anambra State governor in the next round of general polls in Nigeria.

Okonkwo was a key member of the Labour Party – the party that took the political space by storm in the last election. Obi came third in that exercise, garnering over six million votes with the majority of his support base being youths.

However, Okonkwo resigned from the party on Tuesday, citing internal rambles in the Labour Party.

The former member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ruled out returning to the ruling party.

“I resigned [to leave APC] on principle,” Okonkwo insisted but gave only one condition to return to the party.

“Let me tell you, I will be the first person to admit if the APC changes today and is doing well for Nigeria,” he said, accusing the ruling party of failing to address the country’s challenges.

If not greed, desperation and obsession, what is atiku still looking for in an election. He has no plan for the country than to loot more for his generation yet unborn. As for Peter Obi, he just doesn't sound coordinated to be fit for that office. I wish we can have a more brilliant less religious person to rival emilokan.

If the opposition remain too greedy, selfish, egoistic to unite in order to relieve us of the burden of the frog-pharaoh, then they are not worth it themselves. It would be better they all stand down for a fresh candidate that can represent a united opposition. APC only took power by bringing together about five groups. If the opposition think they can do it against an all-powerful and ruthless frog-pharaoh, without uniting, then they must be joking.

No politician can beat Tinubu in this country right now except Atiku and Obi combination and that is why APC are doing everything for that not to happen.
Seriously APC is scared of the combination and there's nothing they can do about it, very soon you guys will soon see what's going on because the Tinubu boys have successfully buy plenty enemy for him in the North. The first is by fighting Elrufai and last week one mumu dey insult Buhari and his past administration. See I really like this Revenue Bill Tinubu is trying to pass but the North no like am and some Northern politician are not happy about it and it is part of what opposition will use against them. In the last election apart from G5 governors there were some other PDP governors that worked codedly for Tinubu but this time around instead of Tinubu boys to start building friendship with some people they were fighting them thinking they have arrived forgetting that Nigerians are not happy with them right now.
Take a look at APC some of this their politician are former PDP boys, I am telling you if Atiku and Obi comes together it will take a miracle for Tinubu to beat them and let me remember you guys Tinubu is not Buhari and some Northerners are not happy with Tinubu right now because of what some of his fo*lish and senseless boys are doing right now for that reason expect more votes for Atiku in the North and Obi popularity is there in the South. I can tell you for free APC is getting scared every day by day and Atiku and Obi will beat them if care is not taking. See I am not a fan of Obi but if Atiku and come together they will beat Tinubu and heaven will not fall. Buhari used popularity to beat Jonathan so if Atiku and Obi come together I don't see anything standing in their way and to Wike and some politician that sabotaged their party for opposition let them know that everyday no be market and people are wiser everyday. That Election day will be a long day for APC.

I no go vote again sha but I'm solidly behind Asiwaju.

If I'm able to pick up my APC membership card before that time, and I get attached to one godfather, maybe (just may be) I will vote.


Only fools vote in a Nigerian election in which they don't know the candidates directly or indirectly.

Even if your clueless Obi emerges as president (God forbid), he will only be in one office at the end of the day. He's going to also work with the corrupt civil servants that have been there before he even joined politics. You will still need to know an appointee of Obi directly or indirectly to get a Federal government job.

This is how the country is structured.

If you like don't pick up a party membership card, stay there and be fooling yourself thinking any politician gives a Bleep about you.

They give a Bleep about their immediate families first, then their friends, then, their associates.

Before they think about you, they must make sure that opportunity has been extended and rejected by everyone that knows them directly or indirectly.
