https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ali7CnQ3J-s Recall that NAFDAC had explained why it had to shut down markets Peter Obi said "I have noted the mixed reactions- both positive and negative to my call for the immediate reopening of markets that were not involved in illegal drug trading. Once again, this situation highlights why we continue to experience economic stagnation, and unproductivity in our nation. When those who have never built or managed businesses - who do not understand how micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) operate - are in charge, they take actions that cripple legitimate businesses and stifle economic growth. This is how we have continued to decline - where governance disregards the realities of everyday Nigerians. The earlier we embrace the fact that small-scale businesses are a critical part of the economy, the better for us as a developing nation. During my recent visit to Indonesia, I engaged with the Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and policymakers. They clearly demonstrated how Indonesia MSMES provides over 90% of the employment. The Indonesian government provides committed support to ensure these MSME businesses thrive, offering access to reduced funding while ensuring that those who violate the law are duly persecuted and punished. During my tenure as Governor, Anambra State was the first to seek a partnership with the Bank of Industry to secure special loans for MSMEs. A dedicated committee was set up to ensure that the loans reached those who truly needed them. We also facilitated the establishment of a Bank of Industry branch in Anambra to enhance access to funding. When many states were banning motorcycle riders, a.k.a okada riders operations, on allegations that they were involved in criminal activities, I refused to follow suit because I understood the economic implications for small businesses. Instead, I intensified efforts to enhance their operations, creating an environment where small businesses could thrive while collaborating with their unions, and security agencies to weed out the bad actors. Similarly, I ensured that certain categories of small businesses, such as wheelbarrow pushers, were exempted from paying taxes to ease their financial burden. Today, entire markets are being shut down because of the actions of a few. You do not cripple an Ogbo Ogwo market and surrounding markets for several days in the name of enforcement. These are people struggling to survive in an already difficult economic environment, yet instead of providing solutions, the government is shutting down markets indiscriminately. This is not governance; it is economic sabotage. Small businesses must be protected—not destroyed—if we truly want to build a productive nation. I respectfully appeal once again that businesses not involved in the sale of fake drugs should not be shut down due to the huge implications of closing businesses that depend on daily profits to survive. A one-month closure will cripple many of them. We have witnessed similar situations in the past, where businesses reopened only to find that goods with short shelf lives had expired, resulting in huge losses. Additionally, I like to advise that shop owners should be present before any searches are conducted on their premises to ensure transparency and fairness. 7 Likes |

This idiot is twisting what NAFDAC discovered in their raid if the market. The market had 90% of its shops and whare houses that had been screened by NAFDAC having fake and expired drugs . Obi is now telling you that the profit margin of these dubious merchants is more important than the general public health and safety. Obi remains a fraud and a liar who will double down on all his gaffes because that's what he is - a charlatan claiming Saint. 16 Likes 2 Shares |

The fraud only remembers dealers in fake merchandise and fake drugs plus his beloved IPOB terrorist friends. Here he is remodeling himself to be a socialist by defending criminals in that market but when he was governor he rolled out every anti people policies that he could such as increasing school fees for all state owned institutions for primary up to tertiary levels at over 300% while neglecting the welfare of teachers and lecturers in the employment of Anambra ministry of Education. At the same time, this fraud never built any new schools or saw it fit to renovate the existing ones that had become an eyesore. In the health sector, Obi implemented a policy of no work, no pay to force striking Medical practitioners to return back to work. And what of the federal handouts that Anambra got in the 8ys of his maladministration? If he wasn't ferrying it in cash from Anambra using a convoy of State government vehicles compete with police security to his personal office in Apapa, Lagos , he was diverting it to his personal business portfolio and Pandora account. How dumb can an entire region and stare be it to believe this incompetent charlatan and thief to be their long awaited Messiah ? Same Obi who claimed to have since handedly invested public funds without setting up a board to oversee the funds and to which said investment is no longer traceable is who some fools want us to believe is the Messiah. 5 Likes |

ChiefJusticeFuc: Have u been to ogbo ogwu market before? There is a building materials market inside there, there are other smaller businesses? You can shut down people selling building materials because of drugs people. There is what is called intelligence in every operation and obviously this lacks none. Shutting down other busineeses who dont even know what is happening is criminal in itself on the part of NAFDAC. Where did NAFDAC get the power to close down building materials market? You people should stop fooling yourselves. NAFDAC should apply intelligence in its operations as obviously it is lacking. Shut down only the shops that are perpetrators not innocent businesses. Thia is akin to the nonsense the poluxe does anytime somebody is killed, they start mass raiding arresting innocent people. 9 Likes |
Re: Fake Drugs: Peter Obi Explains Stance On His Comments by ChiefJusticeFuc: 9:35am On Feb 19 |
Macphenson: Sharap. Majority of shops and merchants in that market are merchants of pharmaceutical products and so far, NAFDAC has said that over 90% of those dealing in pharmaceutical drugs are into fake and expired products. If the police discover a hotel is knowingly having at any given time 90% of its guests being kidnappers and armed robbers, will you condemn the police if they decide to seal off the hotel 6 Likes 1 Share |

It is pure stupidity to shut down a whole market because you discovered that a few traders were selling fake items. That amounts to throwing the baby out with the bath water What you do is shut the shops found to be selling fake items, not the entire market. Why punish everyone because of the actions of a few? It's pure stupidity 4 Likes |
