He also spoke about his approach and philosophy

"He would use the natural strength of Nigerian players to form his style of play – pressing hard when they lose the ball, spreading out and playing with confidence, strength and speed when they are in possession. Getting to opposing goals in the shortest possible time and with the fewest number of passes"

This style of play requires pressing hard from the front, in attack and in midfield, and playing a high-backline with offside traps like Barca does.

The issue with this is we don't set offside traps very well and haven't perfected those tactics.

Furthermore, relying on offside tactics at the back could prove disastrous in the absence of VAR review because an offside goal may be scored against us if Referee & Linesman "sojinu'

(Drogba's goal for CIV against Nigeria in the 2006 AFCON semi-final comes to mind.

We have been extremely unlucky without the VAR in this WC Qualifier.

If VAR was being used, we'll have gotten 3 points from Rwanda for Lookman's goal and perhaps another 3 points from SA for the foul on Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, and our standing in the group would have been different.

If Chelle qualifies us for the World Cup, he should be given OON national honour and immediate Nigerian citizenship, with an improved contract covering the next 2 AFCONS after this year's.

He has spent endless hours watching each one of the players at least 5 times in different matches to know them well. He is almost ready now"

My bad, you're right.

The WC and AFCON qualifiers are being played at the same period, and with the same opponents, hence the mix-up.

Read again, I said if Chelle qualifies us for the WC.

Yes, national honour and citizenship as a way of rewarding him if he achieves that feat cos it's a daunting and almost impossible task.

I think we don’t need to pressure the coach, we know our current standings in the wcq and Chelle shouldn’t be judged on that cos I know us as a people once we don’t qualify we can start calling for his head. Why don’t we wait and see how things pan out before creating unnecessary expectations we can’t manage. Let the coach settle into his job. My thoughts

Seems Boniface has played himself into Alonso's bad books, thus getting benched for non footballing reasons

He cannot become so bad that he can't get in the team 3 straight matches

Schick impressed when Boniface was injured
Alonso can't just drop Schick for Boniface now that he is back from injury

🚨The Nigerian Sports Commission (NSC)🇳🇬 has given full support to the Nigeria Football Federation(NFF)🇳🇬 in their pursuit of Arsenal Star Ethan Nwaneri.
According to a close family member, the youngster will play for whoever approaches him first between England and Nigeria 🇳🇬.
Although he has already represented England in the youth level, he still remains eligible to represent Nigeria as he is yet to be capped by the Three Lions.

This is only some sort of publicity, some sort of media stunt, and for whoever the party that benefits from this I can't tell. But you see, if you really have such a high potential player within your reach. And you have the slightest possiblity of getting him you will not need the media on this anymore. You will go directly for him.

You are being disingenuous with your comments.

Pray tell how is opining that Chelle should be rewarded IF WE QUALIFY creating unnecessary expectations, calling for his sack and not allowing him to settle into his job?

Do you even know the requirements of obtaining citizenship in Nigeria as a foreigner? You think it’s something they collect directly from aso rock with an executive order? And how does qualifying for the World Cup merit a national honour? Will he be the first to achieve that? Some of us are just too over excited about this coach and that’s where the problem is.
