You are right, that outing has crime written all over it. They even announce it as though it's a normal outing for him

They say he step out in the morning. That time indicated is core midnight. What he went out to do at that ungodly hour was not mentioned.
For someone to step out of his home at 1:30 am in the middle of the night and declared currently missing, it will be a miracle to find him alive.
