There are better alternatives in the fixed income space then , why take the risk of nse just for dividend if capital appreciation is not a driving factor if you are considering hedging those two forces

I think we are mixing two things up here

On one hand, in the short term there might be some mispricing here and there
You can "chop and clean mouth"
Essentially you are being a trader

On the other
there is long term capital appreciation from reinvesting profits instead of paying dividends

The logic is the reinvested money increases capacity and efficiency to make even bigger future profits, the cycle again which will affect the value of the firm positively

The snag with line 2 is that 5 years from now

the money might be nominally big
but worth less

Ok got you , but I was basically looking at repricing of assets , stocks inclusive, to hedge devaluation and inflation , and time frame should not be 5 years , will say 6 to 18 months max , basically everything has gone up , land , property , food ,data , everything , good stocks should go up too theoretically , and it kind of happened 2023 into 2024 after the floating of the naira

so basically scenario one

Profiting from asset mispricing here and there

Insurance dominated top 5 on gainers table today......
Impressive!!
The sector is showing strength
Where are the Ogas that said they're all going back to base? 🙄
Once the recapitalization kicks off, we may witness lots of activities here......just my opinion.

Oga @Agbalowomeri pls help check the chart for this sector

Does below quote still stand?
Agbalowomeri:

Insurance Index is really firing ATH this month
Wetin dey sup ke? Are they pushing for recapitalization

** Caveat: Do not take as any form of advice.......
I'm just carrying out some checks, then needs to know what the chart is saying.......

First Quarter 2025 will give us better direction regarding the banks that raised additional Capital last year. As for Access bank I think it's really undervalued.

I've told you to stop talking down on people.

You are in London but London is not in you.

So if anybody voices an opinion you don't like, then Nigerians become stupid.
Nigerians become senseless.

Nigerian are too difficult (the real word is stupid) to deal with

Instead of understandings the unique situation we are in and advocating Dangote gets all the support he needs
Because of sentiment and stupidity

Dangote will be fine regardless
The refinery too
But let's see how the metrics of nigeria will be if we bungle this opportunity

Right! If it stays at current price or goes lower, I will hold and manage the change.

If prices go higher with 10-15% I am selling!

That's my opinion of them
A lot of them are very very stupid AND senseless

That IS the fact of the matter (well at least that is what it appears to be)

You cannot have a serious discussion with a typical Nigerian AND not see how dumb the take he or she has and confident they are saying it

Pick any topic
Is it about the disgraceful Akpabio situation ?(go look at the disgraceful comments Nigerians are dropping across international platforms on the natasha matter)
Or about Tinubu?
Or about the refinery?

Or arguing that Nigeria does not need 24 hrs light?

The one that pained me the most is the cry for Nigeria to be recolonised, and see how even oriole who claimed to be educated were throughout last week, arguing vehemently as to why that's the case, and why Nigerians are inferior to other ppl, Indians (of all ppl) included

When my Zim friend drew my attention to it, I was ashamed to my very bone

These are the knuckle heads that I should exalt as Smart people right ?

It is what it is
A lot of Nigerians ARE STUPID
period

Voicing a dissenting opinion is one thing, Voicing a stupid opinion is another
And btw this is a position I have always held, even before I moved out of nigeria
so that is a non issue and irrelevant to the discourse
A stupid Nigerian IS a stupid Nigerian
Regardless of where he or she may live

Or is it not the majority of (stupid) diaspora bum bum cleaners that were defending that Arrow that was eating swallow and soup in public transport causing nuisance ?

In fact, referencing it is telling of something
Do the maths yourself

You guys don't seem to realise how these shameful things going on affect our collective image

You hear quality of convos our people have and you wonder what the actual fk is going on...

But instead of calling spade a spade, we will rather bury our heads in the sand and claim all is well.

And you expect the rest of the world to take us seriously?

Zenith Bank could have done better undecided

Anyways, they may work their magic at the interim dividend cycle

The price will leverage on the Q1 results which I believe the bank would strategically release quickly if favorable. Zenith is already airborne concerning the new capital requirement. Market makers and insiders however don’t like to buy high so may split purchases into multiples below 100k units in an attempt to peg the price within mid 40s. Price likely to blast off once the Q1 comes in showing massive Q1 earnings to buoy enthusiasm for H 1 Interim dividend above N2.00

UBA should be trading the same price as Zenith Bank because they gave the same total dividend as Zenith Bank (N2 - interim & N3 - final). GTCO has no choice now but to pay N4.00k or above. Failure to do this will affect their share price. I don't think I can remember when GTCO paid more than Zenith Bank. If only Access would pay N2.00k or more will move their share price northwards. We are paitiently waiting. Not really expecting anything spectacular from Firstholdingco, they have always lagged behind. If the Management is wise, pay N3.00k and watch the impact on the share price. grin

Ok.
What I replied to said Zenith Bank payment date is 25/4/25. Which is same as UBA's.
Will cross check myself and correct accordingly on my dividend calendar.
Thanks for the correction.

Q1 results is the make or break catalyst for Zenith

Ha! Agbalowomeri N30 ?. That is impossible. You and I know that Banks always have this humongous EPS but only come out to pay a fraction of it. I don't even see it drop to N40.00k, you may not even get it at N45. Investors like dividend o. If only I can get 10% dividend yield on my investment, it will be superb. But, most times what you get is 6 - 8% yield. I don't even see the share price drop. If it doesn't increase, it will find support level at N47 - N48. Let's just watch and see. Remember, nobody can claim to rightly predict this market 💯 %
