The High Court of Bayelsa State, sitting in Yenagoa, on Thursday issued an order restraining associates of the Federal Capital Territory Minister, Chief Nyesom Wike, from holding a mega rally in the state pending the hearing and determination of the Motion on Notice.

The proposed rally is scheduled for Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital, on April 12, 2025.

Hon. Justice I.A Uzakah granted the Motion Ex-Parte in Suit No. BYHC/YHC/CV/133/2025 filed by the state’s Attorney General, Mr. Biriyai Dambo SAN.

The other defendants are the Nigeria Police Force, the Inspector-General of Police and the Commissioner of Police, Bayelsa State Police Command.

The enrolled court order states that: “An order of the interim injunction is hereby made or granted restraining the 1st and 2nd Defendants, whether by themselves, their agents, associates, privies, representatives (or any person whatsoever acting at their behest), from conducting, convening, coordinating, engaging in, organizing, participating in, holding, hosting, or facilitating any political assembly, rally meeting, or gathering within Bayelsa State, for
the purpose of solidarity, hosting, and celebrating the 2nd Defendant in Bayelsa State, pending the hearing and determination of the Motion on Notice for Interlocutory Injunction.”

This Wike has forgotten that power is transient and it is just a matter of time everything u are now would be no more.

There was Abacha.
There was Dora of this world.
David Mark
OBJ
Babangida.
Elrufai of this world.
Peter Odili and name it.

Despite the fact that,it is unconstitutional for anyone to hinder people's freedom to assemble, the court must be respected until the judgement is set aside.

Rally for what exactly? Is he contesting for any political position?
Wike cannot insult a whole ethnic group and still poke them in the nose.
The rally is totally uncalled for

The activities associated with Wikezation and Wike(ism) have gone further to expose individuals of certain ethnicity in Nigeria about their sophistry as a race with integrity, intelligence and strong moral stance. We the Niger Deltans have learnt yet another bitter lessons that our real enemies are closer to us than the man in Kano, Kaduna, Borno, Adamawa, Niger. In deed, one should really be careful about enemies disguising as friends and brothers. We will put our house in order. We blame no one for our current woes. We blame the foolish willing tools in our midst, and we shall address them in due time.
God bless all of you according to your thoughts and wishes for the Niger Delta and her people.

Wike should carry his Wahala to Rivers State. Perhaps he has promised Tinubu that Bayelsa will be added to his catchment areas come 2027

This is nothing but power flexing from a desperate dictator filled with pride and bile.

Just an ego trip.

"They say Ijaws don't like me, I must go to Alabama in Rivers State and pull a crowd there, I don't care if anyone is hurt or dies"

"They say Ijaws don't like me, I must go to Bayelsa to prove that Ijaws like me and pull a crowd there, I don't care if anyone dies or gets hurt"

This is what this rally is all about and nothing more.

One man's ego.

I don't necessarily like Wike but the judgment even though it is temporal is wrong.

The freedom to associate and gather peacefully is a human right, it is democratic and a judge making this statement is touting with people's rights

Perhaps you are right, seeing how terrible T-Pain gave him exclusive access to FCT revenue that he has increased by squeezing Abuja people of different levies, rates etc.

Meanwhile there is no news of recruitments into the FCT civil service to do all that is needed for common services and utilities to be available to the people.

ijustdey:
President Bola Tinubu has pulled the Federal Capital Territory Administration, FCTA, out of the Treasury Single Account, TSA, effectively paving way for the Nyesom Wike-led FCTA to utilize the territory’s Internally Generated Revenue IGR for the development of the nation’s capital.

At a news conference Friday in Abuja, Wike also disclosed that the President has approved the creation of the FCT Civil Service Commission to allow for staff career progression.

Rally to consolidate his power base in the SS, following his ebilokan ministerial reward for getting rid of naive Pandora Bitter Obi to make APC shege continue easily.

2023: PDP and politics of healing Wike’s self-inflicted injury

Then, the race began in earnest for three years now, reaching a frenzy with the works of the two PDP committees on zoning. The first was the Gov Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi committee on the zoning of the PDP party offices. The Ugwuanyi committee quickly told the world the committee’s assignment did not cover zoning the office of the president. Though this was true, the question is: why didn’t the Ugwuanyi committee zone the PDP chairmanship to the North without aligning it to the divide that would produce the PDP presidential flag-bearer? The second committee headed by Gov Samuel Ortom of Benue state was specifically on the zoning of the presidential ticket and, with the votes of the representatives of all the 17 Southern states without any exception, the Committee unanimously recommended throwing open the PDP presidential ticket, which the PDP NEC simply upheld.

One thing irrefutably stands out – Wike shot himself in the leg. Here was a man who had an overarching influence on both committees but could not insist that the ticket be zoned South. Many had wondered why? The reason is also relatively in plain sight: the Southeast factor. As the clamour for zoning of the presidential ticket of the PDP to South reached its crescendo, many had pointed out the fact that though the PDP Constitution had prescribed zoning of the office of the president to be between North and South since the South-west and South-south had taken their turns in producing the president and the vice in this current dispensation in the persons of Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan, zoning this time around, should not just be to the South but the Southeast.

Atiku Abubakar went a step further by offering to step down from the race if it would be agreed that the touted zoning to the South would mean micro-zoning to the Southeast. Wike and the rest could not take the Atiku challenge maybe because Atiku would likely back Peter Obi, who was his vice-presidential running mate in 2019 and an ally. The prospects of Peter Obi picking the ticket if PDP zoned South was so real compelling Wike to go for an open contest, believing he could pick it up ahead of Atiku, Tambuwal and Bala Mohammed, given his large war chest.

It is not a judgement. It's an interim ruling to preserve the crux of the matter brought before the judge by the attorney general of the state

You don't expect the judge to throw out a case without hearing the substance of the matter and you also don't expect a judge to not grant an interim ruling stopping further action until the matter is heard especially when it is brought by the attorney general

There is nothing like Niger delta than what the Whiteman used to delineate the areas where they found oil.
The common denominator there is "Oil" and nothing else. Not the way of life, not the way of dressing, not language nothing else

Of the term "Niger delta people" is wrong in the first place. We have Kalahari people, ibibio people etc. Politicians usually make this clearer during elections

In summary, there is no enemy of niger delta people anywhere. Its ijaw fighting ikwerre and so on and so forth.

Nigerian politics is something else.

If na Wike use court stop peaceful rally, you'll hear,

" how can he procure an order stopping the peaceful gathering of Nigerians in Bayelsa state. It's our fundamental and constitutional right to gather peacefully in any part of Nigeria. Section 100000 subsection 20000 of the 1999 constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria as amended expressly....bla bla bla. Whoever gave that order should be sacked and investigated. Wike is a tyrant. "

Since na Wike political Enemy use court stop peaceful rally, you'll hear,

" the court order must be obeyed. We're in a democracy where the rule of law...bla bla bla"
