GloriousGbola: I'm 100% sure he's not in the US. His stories just don't make any sense. I'm not even sure he's even still in Canada. His whole story of his trip was shady. Canada does have good programs for immigrants to get residency, but he would have even known that for a while. My homegirl went to Canada on that route and it took her 6 months to pack, sell stuff, close work etc etc. Imagine having a family. Plus he said he had a Dubai trip around that time. Best case is that he found a way to sneak in and filed asylum or he had a tourist visa he is overstaying or he's back in Naij now. It just makes 0 sense why he would lie about it if he did get accepted into that Canada Immigrant Residency Program. But you are right it's incredulous that this guy who benefited from Canada's very liberal immigration policy trashes those same policies daily. He better hope life doesn't have karma. I think at one point he may have been. But saying he is, it's a 2 Likes |

Trump's recalcitrance in returning the person sent to El Salvador combined with his fight whether people not born in the US by US parents are citizens is making sense now. Every naturalized immigrant should be concerned. https://www.rollingstone.com/politics/politics-features/trump-el-salvador-us-citizens-denaturalization-1235315975/ 5 Likes 2 Shares

IjeBos:There is always power else it cannot turn itself on. There is standby power. Usually you have 3v, 5v and 12v power system for computing system. For example, when my children's ps4 pro was got a power surge from lightening, the power unit was destroyed, I went to the office at our warehouse and picked up a couple of PSU from old desktops. I got home and converted it into a ps4 power unit. There is always a standby current of 3vdc for remote control. Which means even as the system is off, it can still communicate with other devices. Your tv remote is a good example of this. So we have soft off and hard off. Hard off is when the power cord is unplugged which means you don't have that standby 3vdc when the system is soft off which is you clicking shutdown button in a Gui or pressing a dedicated button(not switch) to turn of the system, the system is still able to communicate with other system depending on how they are designed. So yes, it can still get instruction from other devices to updates its time and turn on Wwake on Lan or WoL allows a powered down computer to be turned on remotely by a network message called a magic packet. The network interface card remains in a low-power state, listening for this specific packet the 3vdc or 5vdc. When it's received and the MAC address matches, the net interface card signals the motherboard to power on the system. WoL has to be enable is the bios or eufi out of band management (OOBM) some servers and enterprise-level hardware have dedicated hardware and network interfaces for out of band management so they can allow administrators to remotely access, manage, and even power cycle the device even when the main operating system is down or the server is powered off. this often uses a separate network interface and dedicated management controller. the image is my network adaptor. you see the feature to enable magic packet? so you can send a command from your phone if you are not home to turn on your PC even when you shot it down. it is possible and you don't need a clock for that. You don't know what you are talking about but keep trying with your itoosabi pal gloriousgbola. I and basilisco will keep giving free education 3 Likes 1 Share

bemeruca: Bemeruca says when a system has no power, (is not plugged in), capacitors drained, no battery, that there is still standby power. Energy from nowhere. Who would have thought that the 1st rule of thermodynamics was proven false right here on Nairaland. It's Sunday and we have the miraculous creation of Power. Lol. God said let there be power inside his computer and there was. Thanks for the laugh. 3 Likes |

IjeBos: Bemeruca informed you that newer laptops dont necessary have CMOS batteries. This is true esp MacBooks and modern laptops not landfills While most laptops typically include a CMOS battery to maintain BIOS settings, there are some models that either do not have one or can operate without it. Here’s a summary of HP and Dell laptops regarding their CMOS battery status: HP Laptops HP ProBook Series: Some models in this series may not have a traditional CMOS battery, relying instead on the main battery for BIOS settings. HP Spectre x360: This model can function without a CMOS battery, but it will lose BIOS settings when powered off. HP Envy Series: Similar to the Spectre, certain models may not have a dedicated CMOS battery. Dell Laptops Dell Latitude Series: Many models can operate without a CMOS battery, as they rely on the main battery to retain BIOS settings. Dell Inspiron Series: Some older models may not have a CMOS battery, but they can still function normally. Dell XPS Series: Certain configurations may not include a CMOS battery, depending on the design. Key Points Functionality: Laptops without a CMOS battery can still run, but they may lose BIOS settings and time when powered off. Battery Dependency: These laptops often depend on the main battery to maintain settings. |

bemeruca: And this dumbass even repeated it. There is no 3v, or 5v, or 12V rail if the power supply isn't plugged in. Power is transferred through the transmission lines through the wall socket to the power supply of your computer. If you unplug the power supply from the wall where da fuk is the power for 3v,5v or 12v lines coming from? Power just isn't magically created it is transferred. Just stfu you dumbass. 2 Likes |

IjeBos: This whole thing started with you jubilanting you changed CMOS battery, I said modern computers have moved to RTC and use system battery and capacitors to keep the system time and CMOS RAM is not in used, rather, bios setting is stored in flash memory. You were arguing. Good to see you are now saying the same thing. feedthenation: Trump in one afternoon takes more questions from media than Joe Biden took in his four years. [President Trump] considering using his executive powers to bring any greater transparency [to Joe Biden’s health]?” Leavitt responded, “There was certainly a lack of transparency from the former president, from the entire former administration, and frankly, a lot of people in this room when it came to the health and the competence of the former president of the United States, Joe Biden. There was one of the greatest coverups, and frankly, political scandals, this nation has ever seen. “It’s been unraveled in some recent books that are being written by journalists who engaged in that coverup and scandal, which is quite ironic. “But this president is clearly committed to transparency. You, in this room, see him and hear from him on a daily basis. You, in this room, know from covering him – it’s hard to keep up with him. He is a machine, working around the clock every single day. |

Cococandy, I hope you don't get offended by me showing you that democrats are the real crooks.. DOGE, last week revealed that $382 million was paid out fraudulently over unemployment insurance. An initial survey of Unemployment Insurance claims since 2020 revealed the following: - 24.5k people over 115 years old claimed $59M in benefits - 28k people between 1 and 5 years old claimed $254M in benefits - 9.7k people with birth dates over 15 years in the future claimed $69M in benefits In one case, someone with a birthday in 2154 claimed $41k Turns out 3 democrat run states accounted for majority of the fraud.
An old adage. Whenever you point a finger at someone ,three fingers point back towards yourself. 1 Like |

Maga is the dumbest cult ever Copied from Twitter It’s not only difficult to debate a group of MAGA people that literally change their reality on a whim, in a split second, it is absolutely impossible. They hated electric cars, now they’re buying them. They hated higher prices, now they love them. They hated “short term economic pain,” now they ask for more. They hated economic downturns, now they love them. They hated “going after political enemies,” now they’re asking why there isn’t more of it. They “loved” the Constitution, now they’re demanding Trump win a third term. You can’t reason with a cult. 5 Likes 3 Shares |

Raumdeuter, I know you are not as old as a dinosaur or Methuselah ,but you could give me insights on this. (We know if you don't live in America then you know nothing and you should sit at the corner while 'elders and sages " discuss American politics) That's for another day. Having a hard time figuring this out about California voting in Presidential elections. 1980. Former California Governor Ronald Reagan takes it by 90.9%. Wins 44/50 states against deeply unpopular Jim Carter. 1984. Reagan takes 59% of the vote in California. He wins 49/50 states ,a record blowout against Walter Mondale . 1986. Reagan signs bill legalizing 3 million illegals . 1988. GWH Bush wins California by 79.2% handily beating Dukakis. 1992. Bill Clinton takes California by 68.8%. Exact figures I quoted after doing some digging. After 1992 California becomes a solid blue state or should I point out big blue cities drown out the heartland red by a huge margin. I won't take a swipe at anyone else though I'm tempted to. |

When I lived in Washington we used to joke with “hey honey how would you like to spend the weekend in another country”? Because it was merely like 2 hours away to get into Canada from where we were. We would go pretend we were foreigners in a foreign country. ![]() Beautiful beautiful country. With liberal values. I would be proud to live there. I don’t think he’s not proud of it. I think he got caught up trying to portray that he’s very well versed in American politics because he’s an American resident and then he had to keep up with the story. Either way I hope he finds his way to Alabama or Missouri or Mississippi where the core red values are rampant. Then he can enjoy the politics he advocates for. Being in Seattle where we kept our last democratic governor for 12 years in a row has to be very hard for a Republican like bemeruca. We don’t mess with conservatism in Washington state. We’ve been democrats since before I was born. I can’t imagine an immigrant with conservative values choosing to live there. Ibime: 4 Likes |

GloriousGbola:None of them can survive in a real republican state. They usually move to the Texas big cities or cities in NC or FL. Some of these states are only red because of gerrymandering or their Republicans only slightly outnumber the democrats. So on paper they’re red but their cities have diversity and some liberal values like higher education etc. Which is what attracts progress and higher income. Then they turn around and hate the only reason why they’re even surviving in those cities to start with. Let a true African conservative head to deep red state with sundown towns and come back to tell us their experience. 3 Likes |

I actually dgaf. It’s a free world. He can be wherever he wants. I’m bemused he hasn’t chosen a red state to go live in though. Wouldn’t that be the right move for him? Liberalism is a disease according to you guys. And democrats are ruining their states. He hates liberals. Why not find a red state with the values he wants? Last I checked he won’t need a visa for that since he’s already in America🤷🏽♀️. As for your question why does it matter? It wouldn’t matter on a normal day but the kinds of claims people make on this thread is what made it seem to matter. Imagine I’m in America and I’m arguing with amaka about what’s going on in her street or local council in UK. But she’s telling me “that’s not true. I’m actually presently here and this is what’s happening”. But I keep confidently calling her a liar about her experience because my Google is telling me something different than her experience is showing her. Amaka has a right to ask me if I even know what I’m talking about since she’s the one who had the experience and all I have is google. There’s a reason why I keep convos generic if I’m talking to someone who has more experience in the topic than I do. And I listen to them if they tell me I’m wrong. Obviously Americans politics is very interesting and unfortunately it affects the world so everyone gets a say. But to the point of arguing specific details that you can only know from experience is wild to me. Y’all carry on. 😘 basilico: 4 Likes 1 Share |
