Trump caught on a hot mike telling the El Salvador president “the home growns are next. We’ve gotta build about 5 more places”.

If you think you’re safe, you’re not. Unless you’re kissing his butt.

1) Yet California is financially subsidizing the so called well run red states. If they got their shit together, why do they depend on us? To the extent you’re bussing your homeless to California and then turning around to talk crap about homelessness in California. If you had the common sense to know you can live wherever you want regardless of the politics of the place, you should’ve put that common sense to use long ago when your side was asking democrats to leave. Stinking hypocrite.

2) this tired trope of switching to blame the LGBTQ community every chance you get is played out. It’s low IQ low hanging fruit meant to tickle the stupid. When I say you guys demonize science, I never even mentioned the LGBTQ community. But that’s where your mind first went because that’s what your default programming has been set to. Now you can’t think outside of that box. UK, Canada, the Scandinavian countries, in fact most of Europe, even Thailand all have far more progressive policies around LGBTQ issues. Why isn’t it a hot culture war and political debate topic for them every election cycle? Maybe because republicans identified that as something they can use to rile you people up and have you acting like a one minded horde anytime the election comes around. Trump was even on camera saying they should leave the topic and bring it up during election season. Because even he knows that’s the only purpose it serves.

3)When I say you guys demonize science it’s because you’ve settled into being anti-research, anti-vaccine, anti environmental ghouls. Not once did I even mention the rainbow community. But like a brain addled MAGAt. That’s the only thing you can think of because you’ve been convinced they’re your problem in life. It’s pathetic that your existence is being marred by people who dgaf about you and don’t affect your life in any way.

So much so that you don’t even know there’s an anti science right wing movement beyond this little topic.
Where right wing moms are promoting ingestion of unpasteurized highly pathogenic foods like milk. Protesting against proven disease prevention measures because they’re romanticizing cave life. Railing against environmental protection measures.

You people are so lost that you will keep drowning yourselves every chance you get in LGBTQ drama even when they don’t mention you while the rest of the world is progressing and moving on into the future.

@bold, we’re not the one carrying tiki torches into the street causing violence and screaming Jews will not replace us. Neither are we killing police officers and hanging vice presidents. Last I checked, that was the right wing. So peaceful 😌. Party of “family values” and rapists who fantasize about sleeping with their daughters.

bemeruca:

Your side and celebrities complain nonstop and say they would leave. Your points here are childish at best. I have common sense to know that I can live where I want, and I will leave if it is not conducive for me. A lot of liberal/progressives are leaving liberal/progressive heaven, like California and New York, for a better life. people from California and New York are moving to states like Texas and Florida, with North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and even Arizona. all these states are red states except for Arizona, which is a swing state.
so why are them moving? well, lower costs of living, taxes, and lifestyle preferences,

If the liberal lifestyle is so good, why are conservatives and liberal running to Red States?

The politician did not turn it to a 3rd world country the first time, there is no need to cry the sky is falling. Talking about 3rd world country, How many poop do you jump or step on a day in California? How is the homelessness? Even in 3rd world countries like Nigeria, we don't see that level of homelessness in Lagos or Abuja. we don't even have the kind of shit they have in the streets of California. liberal leaders are opening the border for every kind of people from 3rd world countries to cross, so who is making the country into a 3rdworld country?

When science starts telling me men can get pregnant, should I believe them? I believe in science but not the one your guys are pushing on us.
Demonizing healthcare because you’re told to do so.

See your side, the people who follow science and the college professors.

I don't promote anything. it is your side that would burn, attack, and make people lose their jobs who don't suckup to your ideology.

You should guess why liberals are moving to red states

When you take the battery out of the laptop, does the laptop have power?
What happens to the clock?
Specifically what is powering the RTC?
Or is it that spontaneously generating Energy Bemeruca was talking about?

When you're wrong your strategy seems to be to ramble on about irrelevant things.

The irony again is that + thinkpads (well the older generations) actually have two batteries an internal and an external so you can swap a battery without the device losing power.

If laptops drew power from their battery for cmos, laptop repairs would be disruptive.

It is starting with the undesirables. There are now articles indicating that over 70% of deportees have no actual criminal record.

This is actually not surprising. It is law abiding people who have records that can be used to track them down. Actual hardened criminals who frequently break the law will not have known addresses or places of employment and will be far harder to apprehend.

What is happening is normalization of fascist dictatorship secret police who come for your neighbours in the middle of the night.

This is quite literally 'first they came for the Jews'

Anyone who has actually read history should know how this goes.

Being a successful and well to do black professional or businessman will not matter. Same way they tagged all the deportees as ms 14 gang members, they will tag any Nigerians as Nigerian fraudsters who stole from the American people. These shithole country people are the ones destroying our great nation. They stole from children. It will be the same process they pick you up from work, from your house. No investigation, no actual precedent. No records. Maybe they take you to a prison in Liberia or Congo.

Quite literally if an ice agent knows of you and personally dislikes you for some reason you can be renditioned to a hellhole cell in a far away country and forgotten there.

Which incidentally is what happens a lot in Nigeria with our incompetent and malicious police. People are picked up in raids and forgotten in cells for decades.

Which is why team trump is using phone apps. So there are no records of any of this.

Anyone you don't like will be tagged so it is easy for those without empathy or sense to justify what is happening. But the way it ends is a police state where there are no dissenters left

Think Iran and religious police , think east Germany and the stasi, think the Argentinean dirty war. Think Iraq and the numerous 'terrorists' who were taken to Abu ghraib and gitmo.

I just watched bemeruca call IjeBos a terrorist a few pages back. He confidently classified someone he knows is not a terrorist as a terrorist. That is where we are with them.

So logically if IjeBos were to erroneously end up in ICE trouble for whatever reason even though he’s a citizen, bemeruca would say it is where he belongs because he’s a terrorist? This is where we are in 2025.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Just-world_fallacy

The just-world fallacy, or just-world hypothesis, is the cognitive bias that assumes that "people get what they deserve" – that actions will necessarily have morally fair and fitting consequences for the actor. For example, the assumptions that noble actions will eventually be rewarded and evil actions will eventually be punished fall under this fallacy. In other words, the just-world fallacy is the tendency to attribute consequences to—or expect consequences as the result of— either a universal force that restores moral balance or a universal connection between the nature of actions and their results. This belief generally implies the existence of cosmic justice, destiny, divine providence, desert, stability, order, or the anglophone colloquial use of "karma". It is often associated with a variety of fundamental fallacies, especially in regard to rationalizing suffering on the grounds that the sufferers "deserve" it. This is called victim blaming.

This fallacy popularly appears in the English language in various figures of speech that imply guaranteed punishment for wrongdoing, such as: "you got what was coming to you", "what goes around comes around", "chickens come home to roost", "everything happens for a reason", and "you reap what you sow". This hypothesis has been widely studied by social psychologists since Melvin J. Lerner conducted seminal work on the belief in a just world in the early 1960s.[1] Research has continued since then, examining the predictive capacity of the fallacy in various situations and across cultures, and clarifying and expanding the theoretical understandings of just-world beliefs.[2]

The Federal Emergency Management Agency will end its 100% match for Helene disaster recovery in North Carolina.

“The need in Western North Carolina remains immense — people need debris removed, homes rebuilt, and roads restored,” Gov. Josh Stein said in a news release. “I am extremely disappointed and urge the President to reconsider FEMA’s bad decision, even for 90 days. Six months later, the people of Western North Carolina are working hard to get back on their feet; they need FEMA to help them get the job done.”

Stein had asked the federal government to extend its 100% match. He received the denial news while in Newland with people who lost their homes in the storm, he said. More than 100 people died in the storm that caused more than $60 billion in damage to Western North Carolina.

When Joe Biden was in office people actually received assistance but they kept lying that all the money was being spent on illegal immigrants.

Now a Trump appointed head of FEMA is in office. What’s their excuse?

Apparently there’s a study that shows a real difference in conservative versus liberal brains. Where conservatives have a slightly larger amygdala which is the primitive part of the brain responsible for fear and negative emotions. And liberals tended to have more gray matter which helps with forming empathy and connections.

Without extensive and continuous replication of this study, I don’t know that I’d cite in a professional work. It could very well be outdated. And I don’t think it takes into account people who switch sides as it suits them.

But it does ring a few bells if you wonder too much why you can’t convince a conservative to care about anything other than themselves.

But it is exactly what Android17 was pointing out though he didn't stand by it fully.

Good article from the Conservative site National Review.
Should read the full thing.

Trump Tests the True Limits of Presidential Power

Greetings and welcome to this week’s midair performance of the Carnival of Fools! Like a prestige subscription-service drama, our story resumes from a potent cliff-hanger: Last week, Donald Trump had invoked the laws of cartoon physics as he strapped an ACME-brand tariff regime onto America’s economy and sent it hurtling off a cliff. Bond markets proved immune to the appeal of MAGAnomics; Trump was therefore almost immediately forced to hit the pause button, or at least the slo-mo: Global tariffs are still on at a blanket 10 percent — with a 90-day pause granted for the nations of the world to “negotiate deals,” a phrase with no articulated (or articulable) meaning in this context. That’s the upside; the downside is that we are now embroiled in a full-scale trade war with China.
....

The Insolence of Office
For those unaware of the details of the Abrego Garcia controversy, I commend to you National Review’s excellent, concise editorial explaining it, and I advise you to read it before proceeding. Briefly, a Salvadoran illegal immigrant here under an asylum claim was erroneously and hastily deported without due process of law, and the Trump administration is refusing to return him to the United States for his proper day in court.

For those who already know the specifics of the controversy, allow me to state my understanding of its true stakes: This is the latest and most perfectly emblematic example of the new Trump administration’s willingness to test the law well past its limits and do so by demonstrating gleefully naked contempt for it. It is all too easy to see why it is being either cheered on or winked at by Trump’s supporters and regarded with indifference by the masses. But it should alarm you deeply.

In a unanimous ruling, the Supreme Court ordered the Trump administration to “facilitate” the return of Garcia to America from El Salvador so that his claims can be adjudicated. (He currently sits there under an agreement negotiated by the Trump administration with Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele for the use of his notoriously brutal mega-prisons to house potential deportees.) This weekend the Trump administration refused, claiming, on stunningly disingenuous logic, that because Garcia had been dumped quickly into El Salvador he was now beyond American jurisdiction. (“He is detained pursuant to the sovereign, domestic authority of El Salvador.”)

Why not just ask El Salvador to return him? Conveniently, President Bukele — who just happened to be in America on an official state visit — sat in the Oval Office yesterday morning and was able to answer that question: There’s just nothing I can do, alas. “How can I smuggle a terrorist into the United States? I don’t have the power to return him to the United States.” (Bukele proceeded to smugly chuckle with Trump about how it would be nice to be able to send Americans, too, to his mega-prisons.)

What matters most about this cynical shell game is the transparent contempt for the law on display. Bukele is not his own man, after all; the purpose of his appearance yesterday was to read lines I can only speculate were at least reviewed by Stephen Miller, who sat in on the press conference to pretend that the Supreme Court had ruled 9–0 in favor of Trump rather than against him. Bukele, Trump, and Miller all wore Cheshire cat grins as they calmly told the world that the matter was out of their hands, even though all know the opposite to be true.

And everybody understands why the Trump administration feels free to defy the law: It believes it has the people on its side. He’s an illegal, anyway! We’re here to deport illegals. Who cares exactly how they’re expelled from the country, that’s not America’s problem. Miller said as much in the Oval Office press conference with Bukele. His primary defense to reporters was, “If [Garcia] was your neighbor, you would move right away.” In other words: Trust us, he’s a bad guy, so who cares how we got rid of him?
...

Donald Trump added a portrait of President Andrew Jackson in the Oval Office — an addition reputedly encouraged by none other than Stephen Miller. The reason suggests itself ominously enough in the current context. Jackson is famous for many things, but none more relevant now than his reaction to the Supreme Court’s ruling in Worcester v. Georgia (1832): “John Marshall has made his decision, now let him enforce it.”

A test of the rule of law is coming. It is not enough to write about this phenomenon with clinical detachment; it must be opposed. If not, I assure you that the spirits unleashed by Trump and Miller, perhaps seemingly innocuous now, will eventually consume us all. I’m not here to persuade you. I’m here to warn you.
