Prepaid meters have been rolling out since around 2018, what have you been doing since then that you couldn't apply for one?
Some discos have allegedly been hoarding them . They prefer to dish out estimated bills.

50 liters of diesel everyday at #1200 is
50 x 1200 x 30 = #1.8 M .

He should get a soundproof gen or and solar.
50 liters of diesel on a 20kva gen set will not serve you for a full day, at most it would take you 8-12 hrs.

Seriously, it won't.
I know a hotel owner who was given meter, he recharged 100k and it got finished in less than 24 hours. He had to do mago mago for meter to be removed.

I myself spend 25k monthly on light bills. Just one small fridge and light bulbs. If I on my AC for 8 hours, I will be spending 4k + daily. A guy that lives behind my estate is not on prepaid meter. He pays 5k monthly. His AC is always on as long as he is home.

you cannot see the problem in what you just said

where the officials will not do their work and have to be bribed and cajoled

you also may not know that those generous guys may be messing you up

do you actually know what your bill is supposed to be?

they came to my neigbours house to accuse him of bypassing his prepaid meter. he showed the the meter and they found out that what had happened was he was assigned a meter for a different region ion lagos. marina instead of festac

so all his payments had been going to a different ekedc area. the meter had been installed by the previous occupant. likely by some nice ekedc officials

when you insist on going through process you will see how hard these guys will make it. all this quick quick and sharp is setting you up for further problems down the line.

one of the biggest problems these discos have is they are full of legacy nepa workers who persist the culture of fraud.

there is no meter bypassing that does not involve disco staff.

understand this - your company depends on revenue to survive and you are cutting off your company's revenue. is that not madness?

Ordinary citizens know how to get prepaid meters and get officials to install them. A deputy governor of Lagos state is here telling us fabs on how it is difficult for him to get meters and installation in government house.

You guys need to learn to not insult the intelligence of the people even though there are some of your minions that may believe you.

It is finally getting to them. In Nigeria the rich and those in power will feel what the common man/woman feels one day. They think ppl are complaining for nothing. Even this insecurity it will reach them one way or the other if they continue to think it don't affect them. Their people, family friends etc even them last last. The wrong that is happening in Nigeria is unacceptable

most nigerians have not learnt energy management. a hotel with AC on all the time will draw power, no way about it. people abroad are actually very deliberate about devices they use for this reason.

keep in mind that anyone who is bypassing meter is the reason fro crazy bills, what he does not pay is passed to someone else.

your average disco official handling your area prefers that you pay estimated bill so they can reach their sales target.

i was on a project with a site that is not metered. every month they were paying cash to the ekedc offical who would then pay their bill.

they were not paying direct to ekedc. we initiated the process for a meter and today a year and 800k later, we still dont have it.

they even tried to start some nonsense about how the site was industrial customer and required MD meter

the discos have multiple problems

industry is not deregulated
legacy staff perpetuating a culture of indolence and corruption
no direct competition.

if you could somehow switch discos like phones, they would be forced to sit up. but we are a captive market so here we are

Prepaid meters have been available since around 2018, what has a whole Deputy Governor been doing all this while that he couldn’t get one, if not taking advantage of the inflated monthly energy consumption invoices, he do submit per month.

I wont save bribe, maybe you are not just a fan of "tips" and "incentives" way of encouraging workers to do better

Messing up how ??, at the time the fee was public knowledge, i think 30+ for single phase or so
They didnt mess up, cos my papa house naa burn cos of bad wires or installation

Your neighbours case is uncommon thats like one in a 1000 and if he has a lawyer he will win ekedc cos Nepa official installed it, due amount was paid but i will leave that to folake

I was told LA hard, i sent my lil brother to go face it, luckily for him his classmate works in the office ... naa sharp sharp our LA commot that year even bank shock as i could return.

Process is not hard, institution deliberately make process hard in Nig just to pave way for bribery and gains, even Nigerians are quick to negotiate
