Oyo's 2025 population is now estimated at 505,697. In 1950, the population of Oyo was 68,785. Oyo has grown by 17,781 in the last year, which represents a 3.64% annual change. These population estimates and projections come from the latest revision of the UN World Urbanization Prospects. These estimates represent the Urban agglomeration of Oyo, which typically includes Oyo's population in addition to adjacent suburban areas.

You’re not sharp..

This stats is proportional to the population of each region..

Oyo state alone is almost the population of SE which makes SW a region with higher population than SE. Numbers would always be different. Besides that, are Igbos not among the poor counted people in the west? As in, they didn’t count poor Ibo people in the west or all the Ibos in the west are rich?

NE is number one because of high population only. It doesn’t mean Ibos are richer than Hausa/Fulani..
I think you have enough recourses online to educate yourself instead of coming here to display how uninformed you are.

The Southeast region of Nigeria has an estimated population of around 36 million people, which is about 18% of the total population of the country. This region comprises the states of Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, and Imo.

Ndi ara.

We all know what will happen if census is conducted by ethnicity in this country.

The population of poor Igbos are counted as part of South West because majority if not all of them live in the South West.. hardly will you find Yorubas in any part of South East the way you see Igbos in huge numbers in the South West.

You must factor that imbalance and anomaly into your stats & computation before releasing useless data to the public.
Let Igbos all go back to South East, while Yorubas remain in South West.. then conduct the nonsense study again.

You ate so poor in IQ. Once a report uses percentage, the proportion becomes normalised. 10% ot 100 is equal to 10% of 1million

This implies that the population of Oyo state is made up of large number of Igbos who live there.
In essence, you’ve acknowledged that the Igbo are the most populous ethnic group in Nigeria.

Stop giving my comments a different interpretation.

The most populous ethnic groups in Nigeria are
1. Yorubas
2. Hausas
3. Nupes
4. Igbos
5. Fulanis
6. others.

Slightly lower than that of Igbos.. from Sokoto to Katsina to Adamawa, you'll find them.. even in Kwara (ilorin) and parts of South East, they have population.

Fake satistics. I have stayed in the east, the level of poverty is rate is high. The only thing you see in the east are empty mansion, nothing more. Go on the street in the south east especially in local government area, the population of mad people is equal to that of normal people, till today in some community in the east, no electricity nor pipe Bourne water. The only thing you see their is commerce. Nothing else.

Ordinarily, it is the job of the government to provide those amenities, yet individuals in the south-east do so. Praise them! No dey envy person wey no sabi whether you're alive or not..

Even the 3.81% in the south west is because of the same Igbos who diluted their true number significantly!!

Remove Lagos and the south west is a cesspool! They know thats why they all claim Lagos 😂
None of them is from ogbomosho or iragbiji or osogbo 😂

You see them claim Lagos, former FCT as if they built it from scratch without input from others because they know they have nothing else.

NB: IF this statistics were against the south east, this thread for don reach page 100 by now 😂

Lol high population means high revenue which equates to more income. The more the income the more better your life will be. So if SW cannot hanace the population boom in Lagos, they should be relocated to Zamfara.

Travelling they say is part of education.. the moment you start travelling, your eyes will open to so many hidden things.

The Nupes I for one never knew had that much population in Nigeria till I started interacting with them.. they are in Kwara and Niger State (which is more than x3 the entire South East region).

In Anambra, the Igalas have huge numbers.. core Igbos are in Abia, Enugu and Imo. Anambra is mixed, Ebonyi have their own dialect and attimes claim not to be Igbos. Even the Igbos from Abia, Anambra, Imo and Enugu do not regard Ebonyi people as real Igbos.. So tell me how the Igbo population will match that of Nupes who spread across big States in North Central.

Lastly, I separated the Fulanis from Hausas simply because they are different people, different in physique, body build and mentality, however they share similar culture due to years of interaction and inter-marriage between the two tribes.
Ordinarily, I would have listed Hausa/Fulani as 1 followed by Yorubas in 2nd place but for clarity sake, Hausas are the majority while Fulanis are more of minority in terms of population.

The main reason most SW indigenes claim Lagos state as their home.
So the other part of SW is only good for Farming
