You people are too much! I am seeing songs that I had long forgotten on your lists, all the way to the Lijadu sisters!
I am almost moved to tears.
I recently went out of my way to get old Obey and Sunny songs

Somebody even remembered this song

when the going seems so tough, many many ppl will run away - cant rmbr the artist's name grin

I never liked the song but it was everywhere!

@Taliban

Are into music? how could you remember all those beautiful songs?
You will not believe that I was in the video of 'higher higher' and cannot remember the name of the girl
that sang it too, I was surprised that you even remember it.

People, please keep them coming

These are songs i listened from my dads collections and some i bought in my school days.
They truly REWIND me.
Why is it that no one remembers the name of that man that sang When the going is smooth and good, many many people will be ur friend/ Higher higher higher higher, etc. Same person sang "Anything u sow, u shall reap during ur harvest my son".
Abeg someone should help us.
Re: What Are The 50 Greatest Naija Songs Of All Time? by Ashawobabe: 12:52pm On Sep 28, 2010
Difficult one to compile as our country is an amalgamation of tribes with bias towards a musician of their kin.
However some musicians did cross tribes and borders.
They include:
1) Fela
2) Sonny Okosun
3) Bongos Ikwe
4)Prince Nico Mbarga
5)Victor Uwaifo
6)Bobby Benson
7)Majek Fashek
coolMike Okri
9)Chris Okotie
10) D banj
11) Tu Face Idibia

The above is in no particular order, and are just the ones that come immediately to my mind.

The likes of (to mention a few) Sunny Ade, Osadebe, Dan maraya Jos, and 9ICE who in their own right are great and do good music, are too regional to merit true inter tribal crossover.

I say this as a Nigerian who has travelled and lived the length and breath of the country.
Sunny Ade is unknown in parts of Iboland while he is revered in Yoruba land.
Osadebe may be king in Iboland but in Bauchi state its more like " kai! Osadebe who?"

There is also a North south divide.
Most of the highlife greats like Cardinal Rex lawson, and Victor olaiya, while they would make the list in the south, are almost unknown north of the Niger benue river basin.

I don talk finish be that so make una lamblast me!
