I want to talk about Vaccination of newborns and children less than one year here.

Please ensure that your newborn baby gets all the recommended vaccines as soon as possible after birth and completes the recommended doses (usually upto 9 months)

Vaccination helps PREVENT some deadly diseases like TB, hepatitis, tetanus, whooping cough, meningitis, polio, measles etc in children. Most of the recommended vaccines are provided for free by the government but unfortunately they are not available in all health centers especially private health facilities.

Prevention is better than cure. These vaccine preventable diseases are deadly and very expensive to treat. Some leave the child with permanent disabilities even after treatment.

Let us ensure that all new born children in Nigeria are vaccinated at birth or within the first week of birth.

so many vaccines these days, 'pentavalent' bla bla bla...I even heard of one HIV which scared me until I learnt it stood for Human Influenza Virus...so we now vaccinate against influenza?

In the US..."Get your Flu Shots" ...flu season is about to begin...last year flu shot would not be effective for the flu arriving this year...$25!...just driving fear in people...many go get it and they are the ones getting sick! They are now hyping the return of the H1N1? virus...and blasting that people should take precaution by getting the vaccine! No end to corporate greed!

When you compare the great benefits in deaths averted and health costs saved to the very few side effects, it becomes obvious that vaccines have immense publ8c health benefit.

For the flu shots in US and Europe, it is quite unfortunate that the vaccines - different components are given every year. I do not agree that most people who get the vaccines come down with flu too. A few of them will get flu eventually but most will not have flu or have a very mild form of flu.
Some go for a flu shot when they start to notice the symptoms. In this case, the vaccine may not help because it is supposed to prevent and not treat flu.

Children get born with autism, it is never inflicted.
