QtKatie: Its important to be able to answer some frequently asked interview questions. An interviewer asked me to state my greatest weakness and I was just staring at him, thinking of what to say. From that point, I knew I had lost an opportunity.hmmm.. I tink one of d ways to tackle ds question is to state one of ur core strengths and state also how it can sometimes be a shortcoming. but u av do ds wisely as it cud stand as a pillar between u and d job. for example, u could tell d HR personnel dat u are a detail oriented person who ensures dat work activities are carried out perfectly(with no form of mistake) and it sometimes affect ur speed but d coy has no reason to be worried about dat as u av improved substantially in carrying out work activities swiftly without diminishing d quality of ur performance. My tot though, more suggestions will be greatly appreciated 18 Likes 1 Share |

victorVIC1: My point is stating an amount could mean you shooting you self on the leg, any possible means to avoid that should be taken, always mention that you're open to negotiations. That's what I think anyway. 2 Likes |

victorVIC1:Just be calm. Don't rush. Don't be too serious. Listen carefully, Think fast and speak slowly. Smile always. Don't lie and if need be, do it skillfully. Never miss the opportunity to attack them(HR's). Never forget it's just an event, it's not a do or die thing. Lastly, Appreciate em (HR's) ;-) 12 Likes 1 Share |

Your interview answers should be close ended so that ur interviewer doesn't have to ask u more questions and throwing u off balance along d line..To give close ended answers u must really prepare and know urself. Please try to ask ur interviewer a question after the interview don't say no if ur interviewer asked if u have any question. 5 Likes |

I once had an interview with one of the top notch acc firm ....i was at the group stage where we where told to present on a topic....i literally jumped the Gun...i did well on the presentation, infact excellently but I was off topic, the topic was about co-education system.....didn't know it was about mixed sex in schools, instead I spoke on boarding and day school.....after the interview....i checked my dictionary...and well...you know rest...the truth is one can be too prepared...just be sure of the answers you are giving..... 7 Likes |

Wao!!! What a nice thread. My experience at my first interview was with kpmg. I read engineering and I applied for Tax. They panel of interviewers constituted 4 people. They asked me to introduce myself, which I did to the best of my ability. They asked me that why tax since I studied engineering, I cudnt say much there, was just saying I perform well at calculations. At the end of interview, I was given a feedback from them. 1) they said I was not bold enough to look into there faces. 2) that they didn't see me come alive when I was asking questions. 3) they asked me my selling point, I couldn't asnwer well. From those feedbacks, I knew I already lost that job. Really felt bad, have learnt my lessons and I knw I ll do well in my next interview. More suggestions pls... 9 Likes |

I've not been to an interview before. However, all the jobs I've done so far, whenever it reaches my turn to be interviewed, they're usually either too tired or they'll just not interview me but will eventually employ me. 20 Likes 1 Share |

Lol...what if company policy is N40k per month? Its best you say what you believe should be paid to you and let them make their decision. I've always stated how much I'm willing to take. I just do a little background check to ascertain what the company pays its staff at the level you're to be employed. It also helps the HR determine how much you value your services; you wouldn't want to under-sell yourself, makes you look inferior; you wouldn't want to over-bloat your expectations, seems arrogant. 5 Likes 2 Shares |

Mazi ahurum ihe idere na diary gi banyere ebe obibi na eko,I tried to comment but couldn't ,they were saying something like I didn't have much permission to do so,as a very good friend and brother I'll advice you to get a house around Ajah or Obalende instead of Oworonshoki,Gbagada and Bariga (its actually Bariga and not Gbariga lol..I understand though, you are not yet familiar with these strange names) that your friends mentioned. The reason is that,as one who have not been permanent in Lagos and already have a second thought about settling there, traffic wahala can easily turn you off. Happy stay bro and all the best. Let me just chip the following in: * For entry level you may not be able to negotiate your salary because you lack experience, unlike those with experience. * Ask meaningful questions that leaves a good impression e.g will there be trainings to help me grow on this job? What software will I need to improve on my job etc. *Try to have a good knowledge of what the company does. * Dress smart and try to communicate clearly. * please do understand that an interview is a selling point for you to make the company employ you, as well as for the company in the sense that, the company also need to prove to you that they want you to work for them. That's the few I can remember now. 8 Likes |
