I have seen many that made it here, unemployment rate in Stavanger is less than 2% and if you are not satisfied here then migrate to other country after your Msc.

Yes weather is harsh in many Scandinavian countries but there is nothing like bad weather, just bad clothing. If you have good clothing you can make your body as warm as you want.

My advice is come and get educated first and better things follows even when you return to Nigeria.

Morethan 50 international oil companies reside here and you can also take advantage of that.

In a nutshell, it's worth taking a shot. Do your best; add value to yourself and create your own opportunities.

Home? What is home, can you mention any country in the world you can call home? Even Nigeria my country is just by birth because home is where you find comfort. Can you live in Borno state or comfortably stay in the Northern part if your are a southerner, is it not Nigeria? and you talk of racism. Can you contest as a governor in Edo state when you are from Lagos state.

The truth is saying Chinko alone is racism. It took the white patience, sacrifice fairness, commitment, patriotism to take their country to where it is now and you must respect that. If they allow you to behave or have full right you may destroy it, so you don't have to blame them for that. I could not get some Job in Nigeria even after passing medicals because I am not from a particular area, this is my experience and you still talk of racism.

What is the status of your government, are they doing anything that will foster development?

Remember traveling outside your comfort zone alone is not only just a life time experience but also broaden your horizon.

If you behave well you live well everywhere you go. No body will be happy you want to share what belongs to them, so get that and be guided.

Norway is not a racist country, speaking from first hand experience.

Unemployment rates are higher (but still very low generally speaking) among foreigners for an ocean of different reasons. It has to do with effort, defiance and refusal to do well in a new society - not racism.

There's a chance you'll feel left out if you:

1. Don't speak the language and don't put any effort into learning it.
2. Unhealthy attitudes and too high expectations (silver platter).
3. Lack of or inability to adapt. This doesn't mean you have to change yourself.

It's like you walking into a mono-lingual Nigerian village expecting everyone to accept you at first glance. Not going to happen, yet it is not racism.

A person that wants to do well in Norway, will do well. It's that simple. There are always some bumps while on the road. It's completely up to each one of us if we choose to let them drag us down.

Let me start by saying Canada was my initial plan, after paying full school fee payment ($14,000 a year program) and showing bank statement of #1.5m , I was still refused a study visa because of inadequate family and economy ties to Nigeria. Which is funny to me despite having been to Uk b4 and still have a valid UK visit visa. I wish to relocate to an advanced country legally and as I am not a high professional person to be considered for highly skilled opportunities. I want to use studying as a stepping stone to achieve this.
My search for alternatives gave Norway as another good choice. I have a degree in business Administration second class lower with cgpa 0f 2.6. I will like anybody that can recommend business related MSc or professional program that I can be considered for admission in Norway especially in regions that Nigerians can easily blend in.

You might have to broaden your wishes though - there aren't THAT many economy studies offered by public universities compared to private ones.

StarFlux: Well, as Inxyz already has said, there are some courses that are very easy to gain admission to, and in many cases these are completely new.

As for the rest, it was simply an observation based on your post.

kennycanny: I am just wondering , going by this Norway trend, Is it that Norway is not attractive enough for Nigerian students or people are not just aware. Or is there anything chasing folks away from Norway.
Just curious y d trend is so slow compare to other countries own.

Just read this thread to get more understanding on how it works.
However, prelimary application - final application - Admission.
The most critical part of the application process for most of us was getting the finance -deposit.
Get your SOP - statement of purpose ready, transcript,degree result,international passport ready and certified by either the issuing institution, court or police.
Then, I advice you get all the deposit if you can because its an expensive place to live so you can have a soft landing. Nevertheless, I borrowed part of my deposit and transfered it back after my arrival in Norway. So you can as well do same. The most important thing is, you must show a bank statement with a balance approximating 98,000 NOK ( for University of Stavanger) before you will be granted admission so you can look for someone that has such amount of money to print his/her statement of account to act as sponsor and also must transfer same before you can be granted a study visa as a self-financed student.
I think this little may help.

Kenny, i think Staflux has said it all.
I am sorry to say,this is more personal because it depends on the career path you want to follow.
If you want to move here, that is okay. Then I will advise you to look up for courses that are less competitive and may be recently introduced in the school if possible. This may increase your probability of getting admission.
As long as you are admitted and transfered your deposit, I will say your chances of getting your visa is more than 90% as at this year's rating.

Am grateful. Pardon me please. I have many questions. Actually ave been able to hussle around for the requested amount . Am actually having challenge with knowing how to go about the statement of purpose . I have browsed to get insight about it but i actually need to see one so I can start up something . Also I need clarification on Proficiency /TOEFL etc. Really must I take TOEFL or SAAT etc before I can get admission into university of Stavenger or NTNU . I have applied for my transcript from my school but they wouldn't give me a copy .they insist on sending it to my school of choice. Should I go ahead and allow them send it to University of stavenger pending when I finish my application.

However, let me answer some.
1. Get back to you.
2. It varies from one to another, start checking now and most ends December. NTNU ends December 1, for UiS starts December and end march.
3. Norway for me is still green, even in advanced country health courses sells. I may not have time to do research on this but try to google more about this but i think it should sell.
4. Your NYSC cert is not compulsory
5. I don't know much about other cities but I know, Bergen, Trondheim, Oslo and Stavanger are good cities for employment but one interesting thing is, you can live any where and do a job somewhere else especially during summer
