I see I can't stay off

16M for Welbeck

Funny enough, United fans are gutted Welbeck is leaving for a top 4 'rival'

Still time for a defender/midfielder?

It's distasteful that the most important position (CB) where we need reinforcement has been ignored thus far, if any one of our CB's go down our season is done, I could care less if we don't sign a striker, at the expense of cover(s) for our defense..

We have shipped 4 goals in 3 league games, 0 clean sheet in the league is more worrisome considering the opponents we have played thus far ( Crystal Palace, Everton and Leicester City).

I think Arsene sees Chambers and Monreal as good CB backup

Judging by numbers/ stats is Welbeck an upgrade from the options available at the Emirates? Noo, 20 goals from 92 appearances is definetly not prolific or even close, in 72 appearances Giroud has scored 28 goals, is that prolific either? Not necessarily, the only good side to Welbeck's transfer to the ashburton groove is the fact he is playing to prove a lot of doubters wrong, he is transferring to Arsenal with a chip on his shoulders and hopefully that motivates him to perform better..

It's obvious, Wenger's joker when it comes to balancing Arsenal this season is a certain Calum Chambers bought from Southampton who has impressed thus far considering his age and experience, I still pray he lives up to the billing as Wenger ultimately plans to use him as cover for the CB, RB and in the near future, if plans pan out right, a defensive midfielder, I don't question Wenger's ability to refine his raw talents but I just hope he stays fit as playing different positions can be mentally and physically challenging especially for a young lad..

All in all, we can only remain positive..

Wenger is a masochist I think. All these talk about financial power and we couldn't sign a CB, that isn't even a luxury buy, it's actually a needful one.

God save us from Sanogo's dad

Welbeck is a good player jor. 80% of his games at United were played on the wing so why would you expect him to have the goal stats of a no 9?
Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: Finally Reborn! The Red & White Army: FA CUP Champions 2020 by 4llerbuntu(m): 6:03am On Sep 02, 2014
so manager of a team in need of an accomplished striker bought an overpriced average young striker with no particular strengths to his game and certainly no goal sense...

I'm getting........

Danny Welbeck is better than Sanogo at the moment. . . .that alone is reason why the signing is necessary despite being insufficient to fill the gap we have.

Am I the only one noticing the large amount of young England internationals at Arsenal though?

Is Arsenal aping the Bayern/Barca projects?

Aping it the wrong way.

Unlike Barca and Bayern, Arsenal are grooming mediocres that would find it pretty tough to make it to the top level.

All flash in the pan - something typical about the English talent.

Fring, 5years from today, I'd dial you up and remind you that these lot are still nowhere near Muller, Kroos, Goetze, Hazard, Oscar, Koke, Alcantara, Schurrle etc.

I'd rather invest my last pound on a Montenegrin talent than on an English talent.

Welbeck finally, this deal is better than the one we got last from Old Trafford (silvestre)

Real backup striker for Giroud.
Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: Finally Reborn! The Red & White Army: FA CUP Champions 2020 by proudlysports: 10:22am On Sep 02, 2014
Welbeck has about 4 months to prove to us that he can play ahead of Giroud. If he can't, then it means we should still be looking out for a top striker.

As for building a national team for England, I brought this up some days back and won't mention it again. As long as it's not to the detriment of the club, I really don't mind. It's only when AW decides to feature player X in a role simply because he's English whilst relegating better player(s) (something we know AW is capable of doing), that's when the 'Wenger OUT' banners will come out again.

Welbeck isn't a bad option considering that knowing Wenger, he could have gone with buying no one. We also should be grateful Giroud got injured before the window closed. I am almost certain if Giroud wasn't injured, AW wouldn't have brought in a striker.

£16M for Welbeck or Balotelli, which would you guys have taken? I guess for AW, this wasn't a hard choice to make considering his love for young players and his intolerance with disruptive players.

Welcome to Arsenal Danny. See you at the Emirates one of these days cheesy

Woke up to news that we've signed Welbeck from United. Certainly not the best i'd hoped for but he's a hungry lad with a knack for scoring. SUcks that the obvious positions that need to be plugged were kinda overlooked.

Hello guys, it's been a minute.

So what did you just do - didn't you just mention it again? cheesy

I wonder why Wenger hasn't bid for Hart, Glen Johnson, Milner, Sturridge, Sterling and Henderson yet in his team building attempts. cheesy

Please provide an example since you've developed mind reading capability to tell Wenger is playing someone 'simply because he's English'. I saw Ozil playing wide on Sunday, with Cazorla playing centrally - maybe Cazorla has adopted English nationality too. grin grin

On this we agree.

Danny Welbeck is now the only player in the current Arsenal squad who has a Premier League winners medal!
