Kaduna just like North & South Lebanon is really a
place to be.
When you are in the northern part of the town you feel
as if you are in Kandahar Afghanistan. Dressing mode
as usual........, you know what I mean. There is a feeling
of fear in the air. as if you will be lynched or one BH
bomb will explode the next minute in front of you. Of
cause most of government presence are in the North
Side.
When you cross the river southward you feel you are in
Jerusalem mode of dressing changes. Even the Okada,
Bus drivers and Keke NAPEP drivers from the North
Side go on Jeans, face caps and shirts I believe they
are also enjoying the freedom you can only find in the
south side. The South side makes you feel at home, no
fear only feeling of freedom. Just like the Americans
say welcome to civilization welcome to the free world.
The South side though neglected by successive
governments is fast catching up with the North.
Shopping malls, recreational facilities, amusement
parks, state of the art residential houses.Development
everywhere. I don't need to go to Gamji gate, Pixy
Dizzy or Babinos all in the north side. We have
Barnawa Paradise Park and many more.
Of cause by chance the South Side has most of the
industries namely . PAN, NNPC/KRPC, DICON,
NORTHERN NOODLES.and Nigerian Breweries. Not to
mention the Dead textile factories.
In everything God said we should give thanks. The
guys on the north side burned our Houses and
Churches in 2000 Sharia crisis and Miss world riots in
2002. This prompted us to go Southward and today
see the blessing it brought. My Friend from the North
side came to the south one day and he asked me
which ppl are building those houses at NAFDAC Narayi
of cause the ppl on the south side I told him. He was
shocked at the development. This was like 4 years ago
That is the North side and the South side of Kaduna.

OP you are right! There's something intriguing about that the two culturo-religious divide across the state!
Thank God the Sharia Riot happened, it merely accelerated growth of the Southern Part!

Very funny indeed....but the funniest part is that, the OP is right. was in Kaduna in July and experienced the North-South divide first hand. That town epitomises Nigeria as a whole.

True about the divide, but to say the south is developing more the the northern part of kaduna is simply hilarious, I'm guessing the OP is trying to imply something, let me ask you this, how many people in the northern part are in a hurry to move to the southern part as oppose to those in the south, what's the property value in both places? Where do you have most businesses? If night life is development then I guess he is 100% on the money! Sentiments will always make some folks make the lousiest of statements, the new residential development in ungwar dosa alone is far far more than that of the whole of barnawa which I am guessing is where you are using to compare, i am talking both in terms of layout and development quality, and ungwar dosa is a place that everyone in the northern part will try really hard to avoid living at

what d OP said is that the Southern part is catching up with the northern part in terms of development considering the "neglect of past governments"

Ol boy ! No be lie! All my properties were burnt to ashes by sharia zealots in feb 19th 2000. But what I noticed is dat from stadiun roundabout /constitution rd up to div 1 in kawo all were old northern govt developed area. But from station down to angwan boro were developed by christians outside the industries. With little effort from govt that is always pro Islam pro emir of zazzau. God will help us set up a private university in Kachia zonkwa kafachan axis soon. Freedom is love. God is love.

Am currently on holiday in Kaduna(south of course) and the OP is absolutely right. The Southern part of the city is fast developing and most of the businesses are moving southward because of the feeling of safety of life and property. And the marginalisation by the current government is something else, if I may add.

Op you are right. In the midst of the challenges the people really pick up fast and are speedly catching up with the north inspite of very little gov't presence (no thanks to the cold hands of death that snatches Governor Yakowa). You need to visit Federal housing in Gonin Gora to appreciate the new tasteful residential building springing up. Also Romi new extension, nepa field, Gbagyi Villa in Romi, Kamaso(hope i got the spelling correct), Narayi high cost, Sabo G.r.a. These are places where you see nice houses and development and you wonder who these people are. The crisis was indeed a blessing indisguise. You understand the meaning of real peace when you cross the bridge to the other side. But I still love U/rimi and Malali.

From experience, people are leaving the north in droves. Rent is a lot cheaper in the north due to low demand and higher in the south.

Even the hotel I lodged was in the south cos I was advised to stay away from the north...even by Northern Muslims. The North is more developed than the south currently, but I see the south catching up and surpassing in about a decade

You right bro. Kd of those days was really fun when you can go just about anywhere at anytime without fear, but the jihadists almost got it all spoilt. But thank God, the southern part is coming up fast in development, beauty and fun. Nice to see many wonderful houses springing up every now and then. The traffic from town to the south also suggest that the north is no longer what it is.

Bigots everywhere. Glad they are too dumb to conceal that default hypocricy and hatred passed to them by their ret.ard progenitors.

Yuck! Its either they say:

Northern christians are more industrous and educated than the Muslims
Or
The northern minorities are better than Hausa/Fulani
Or
A part of the north with considerable number of christians is more lively and better developed than the rest of the north
Or
Their kind of poltics is not ethno-religiously inclined and are advocates of true democracy and secularism
Or
Only the non Hausa/fulani go to school
Or
The best performing northern governors are christians
Or
The population of non hausa/fulani northerners exceed the hausa/fulani
Or
Their women are the most civilized
Or
Their men are the best enterpreneurs
Or
their children have proper upbringing and best parental tutelage.
bla bla bla

This is not the north I know, and true northerners do not abet division of any kind, the internet might be a haven for charlatans and mythomaniacs, but full fledged northerners will never be found demonizing individuals of other faith or ethnic persuasions or resort to glorifying lies and deception.

yes what a wonderful post. in one place, the women dress covering their nudeness and curves so that the men can think straight, and the men dresses in such a way that it spells backwardness. things are blowing up everywhere, hmm i wonder why that is, but it is not hidden to the knowledge of righteousness.

and the southern part, their is freedom, the women can dress however they want so that the men can appreciate what they see, and the men dress in such a way that we can say it is forward or current trend. and things are peaceful, hmm i don't wonder why that is, it also requires a righteous knowledge to figure out what is wrong or nice there.

interesting, i didn't just walk past.

Bro that's the truth. Rents are averagely cheaper in Northern part of Kaduna as compared to Southern part. My colleague was transferred there and that was the first class experience plus I spent my last annual leave there. Though I was born and grew up in Kd but I'm not more there.

It wasn't like that before, it's because of continuous drift by most Christians from the Northern part to Southern part due to insistent ethno religious Catastrophe eating the City.

Furthermore, Christians are realigning to the South because there are more victims on their side.

To crown it all, From my perspective, the Kaduna I know and grew up from is long gone. It's looks kind of divided. If you ask me, I will say Kaduna is leaving on past glory.

Bro, I don't even understand what you saying. There is Kaduna South LGA and Kaduna North LGA (All in the state Capital).
The fact that you are from where you said you are from does not distort fact.
The Topic of discussion is North/South divide in KD which is very obvious.

Nairaland to the inferiority complex wishful thinking simpletons.

The Op is at best day-dreaming

To even imply that the "south" part of kd is prospering more than the "north" is a foolish opinion to have, not to talk of holding any measure of credibility.

You are only attempting to deceive some gullibles here but, sadly for u, you only come off looking 'idi.otic' (no pun intended)
