What's it gona take NYSC to send our call up numbers to our email or phone numbers. Is it gona take 4k to send ordinary message? Moreover is the federal government not buoyant enough to provide for the upward structuring of the system. Well since payment is optional, it's pertinent that everybody should be treated equally.

undecided That line was totally unnecessary. U don't spew out stuffs like that. Whoever chooses to pay or not to pay is totally their business. And I don't see where the 4k has become a yardstick for the rich and the poor.

Everyone just lamenting about 4k, some rushing to pay, some forming street credibility as an excuse not to pay (poverty na BASTARD), some just reading and passing by while some paid from way back.... Anyway, the thing is that... It all depends on individual circumstances to determine your decision... If you know you won't spend upto 4k to go and pick up your letter, then you don't have to pay the fee, but if you will be spending more than 4k to travel to and fro for the letter, then you are even a bigger mugu compared to those that paid 4k.
Don't take it too serious, the answer is within you if you think you should pay or not!

Shalom!
if u actually schooled in Nigeria, I would av asked if e dey pain u say u fall mugun....but then again, ur schooling outside Nigeria probably explains why u know nothing about wat is actually going on here...doubt u know wat street cred is and wat it means to be street wise.....

and before u start running your mouth about poverty, u need to start seeing nairaland as a place where people, mostly rich and learned discuss on issues and learn to differentiate not wanting to fall for a scam from not being able to afford a meagre sum

lastly, I need u to shut up when it comes to discussing anything that affects Nigerian graduates here, cos ure not one... thanks

I think pipo misunderstood you because of the way you phrased it. The decision to pay or not solely depends on any intending corper. 4grand ain't huge but it's not little too *its just enough to get a cool cologne* I personally think the whole "NYSC is extorting unsuspecting students", was blown way outta proportion cos the reasons for the fee are overtly clear and perfectly justifiable. At the end of the day, if you feel going to your school to pick up ur number and letter would cost less than 4grand!*i doubt* especially if your primary dwelling is nt in close proximity with the school, then I would personally curse you out if you pay...

Madam Dania30, don't get worked up.. I dont wanna see E-wrinkles on your pretty face tongue

Sabiguy was just trying to say, have the right reasons to decline payment. If you can't afford the fee now, because of financial constraints but you know deep down that there's an attached advantage to paying, then do the needful and PAY! Even if it means gettn it from a friend.
Well said. Also, the dude too, he stated everything so clear, and he made a lot of sense, but that statement "poverty na bastard" spoil everything. He shouldn't have added that.

If i got mine yesterday and you get yours on the 15th, do you know the value of 10days or 5 working days(as it were)? Can you redeem it with 4k? Then you'd begin to make the long trip to ur univ(even if na 5mins) in my case 800kms to get ur call up number......at the mercy of the roads and the not soo nice admin/student affairs officials asking for 5alive money........What is 4k compared to all the hazards u'd be exposed to? Instead of me bitching about 4k fee imposed by an arm of a failed government, i've done the needful. Life goes on, no need to give myself unnecessary headache.

I don't understand why he shouldn't air his own opinion like everyone else. And asking him to shut up on issues affecting Nigeria is way out of the line. Are you more Nigerian than him?
Everybody is entitled to an opinion. When the #TeamIwillNotPayThe4K were busy calling others who paid names like "mugu" on their posts all in a bid to console themselves for not receiving their call up numbers yet, you didn't see anything wrong with it. And when someone on #TeamIPaid spoke up, you all started attacking him like hungry lions. Talk about transfer of aggression.
Like he clearly pointed out, paying or not paying is an individual thing based on how it affects you. Making it look like those who paid are fools is so low.
In the end, everybody will get their call up numbers, so there's no point forming badoo on here.

my friend the real world in naija is knowing that talk talk doesnt change anything in nigeria, if it does we'd be in a utopic state, what with all the academicians and gifted talkers, many of whom havve died 'while trying talking'. Its like living in lagos and insisting that you'd not pay merriment tax or local govt property tax or 'omonile' charges or LASTMA charges simply becos in your hyper-educated state, you reason that they are needless and exhorbitant. na inside prison you go land and your house sealed up.

If you paid the 4k and have not received your call up number
Two things are involved....
Either your school did not mobilized you...or your date of birth did not tally with what you have in your WAEC result
Others coming soon!!!
