belovedsamex:*modified ratio of a/9 to b/9 is (a/9) x (9/b) =a/b.. From the eqn above, 8a=9b, therefore, a/b=9/8 also if ab=0, then a/b is either 0 or undefined because either a or b must be 0.. So the second eqn of ab=0 is just a mistake..it should be ab=/=0 (i.e ab is nt equal to zero) 4 Likes |

no 2 is d from de ratio of a/9 to b/9 i.e a/9*9/b to have a/b as de result then from 8a equas 9b a equas 9b/8 sub a equas 9b/8 into a/b to have option d 1 Like |

belovedsamex:can you prove that D is not d correct option for question 2? (the workings have already been shown, no need 2 repeat) For question 1, i think the markup is also 20%. |

2. 8a=9b 8/9=a/b a/9 to b/9 =a/9 ÷ b/9 =a/b Since a/b = 8/9 Ans = 8/9 1. Convert the sale margin which is 20% to mark up 20% or 1/5 to mark up = 1/5-1 = 1/4 or 25% Ans = 25% |

Greeings from the Special One, Krumbaga. The Special ONE has decided to take a look a your questions which are not far above instinct ( the lowest source of knowledge which is even possessed by lower animals like the langurs) He has proffered his answers: 1. answer is 20% : markup is as well the percentage profit. 2. a/9 to b/9 =a/b , where ab=0, then a/b=0/0 and thus, leads us to the transcendental plane where knowledge by intuition proceeds, proponents will say the function is undefined, some will say it results to the unification of the universe of all the cosmic forces ( unity=1) 1. adeolabello:ratio of a/9 to b/9 = a/b which is the inverse of b/a; hence the answer shud be 9/8, check it again |

1. D 2. D btw, i don't think its right to put up this question on a public forum. if you really want to help people, slightly modify it and put it up. Else, chevron will find out soon enough and remove it from their question bank. |

The Special One has a word of caution for the OP of this post. He says that you should be very careful on how you use intensional definitions. you erred by saying 'ab=0' , if there should be a concrete answer within the realm of reason ( I mean premises to conclusions; propositions to proofs), the right thing is supposed to be 'ab/=0' .I mean ab is not equal to zero. This is very erroneous and is not taken likely in the gatherings of intellectuals with level of knowledge above reason. back to the question: if 8a=9b; then 8/9=b/a with the following premise ab/=0. a/9 to b/9=a/b if 8/9=b/a, then a/b=9/8. option D Vkrum SA to Krumbaga |

ratio of a/9 to b/9 is (a/9) x (9/b) =a/b.. From the eqn above, 8a=9b and ab=0, a/b=9/8
this isnt d answer. tank u anyway |

Isryl02: Ok here is d working: Let x be the cost price; cost price of 6kg = 6X With 20% of profit margin, SP = 6X x 1.2 This is the price charged for 5kg SP of 1kg = (6X x 1.2)/5 = 1.44X ie 144% increase, hence 144%-100% = 44% My rough working though. No 2: Given 8a = 9b and ab = 0; The ratio of these numbers is [a/9]/[b/8]; substituting in the ratio frm the question, u hv a = 9b/8; the ratio then is [9b/72]/[b/8]; dividing both sides by b and multiplyn both sides by 8, you finally hv 72/72 = 1 Hence: 1.) C 2.) C Regards |
lmao. tanx for d humour guy. u nearly got d answers[/quote Please there is nothing like humour here. Check my updated comment and see Krumbaga's words of admonishment for you. You have to be careful how you use notations. wonder why we have few mathematicians in Nigerians. When I mean mathematicians, I mean those that are able to even supersede the level of intuition. what we mostly have in Nigeria are learned mathematicians/analysts who just apply reason. they don't reason. It reminds of Einstein, check up his history then compare him to Enrico Fermi, then you'll get to understand better. Thanks Vkrum SA to Krumbaga |

question 1. To make a profit of 20%, we say Profit margin =[selling price-cost]/selling price. answer you get x 100% cost price = 6kg x $5 = $30 20%[profit margin]= [SP-$30]/SP ALL TIMES 100% 5S[SP-$30] = SP SP=$37.5 That is to make a profit margin of 20%, selling price will be $37.5 TO CALCULATE THE MARKUP ON THE COST PRICE MARKUP = % PROFIT on the COST PRICE [SP-CP]/CP ALL TIME 100% [$37.5-$30]/$30 ALL TIMES 100% =25% |
