I strongly disagree with you on this. I don't stay in Ibadan, I don't work in UI neither, but with the years of experince I have on admission and JAMB guidelines, I can confidently tell you that the essence of C.O.C is to fill up courses whose quotas are under-utilized, and as well decongest courses in which their quotas have already been utilised or fully utilised like MBBS.

Do you realise the quotas of some courses are still under-utilized? Take Philosophy and Linguistic for example with 21 and 18 candidates on merit list, does that mean those are the utme quotas assigned to the courses since the courses were not listed in C.O.C ? Hell no! Ask the current year 1 students of philosophy and linguistic the number of students in their respective departments and they'll tell you it's more than 21 and 18 respectively.

My point is, courses with the number of candidates on merit list below 25, not listed in C.O.C application, and have their quotas under-utilised like linguistic will surely consider their candidates who didn't opt for C.O.C in the 2nd batch since the courses still have spaces left! That's my view! smiley
yh i get ur view,but i still stand on my post..... Like u said abt philosophy and linguistics,as an example......but 2me o! I think d spaces left is a quota for,difrnt categories lyk; COC & prolly,Catchment&ELDS. If ppl in these categories ar nt stil up 2d required quota 4d department,den like i said such person dat gets it must be vry vry lucky,witout C.O.C.

And abt COC..... Candidates dat dint meet up with d cutoff mark and did not follow d instruction by apply for d C.O.C will nt be considerd 4 admissions @all....irrespectiv of how close ur score is to ur cut off mark or not......but am a christian and with God all things are possible& i believ in miracle....dunno hw strong d persnz faith might be doe! If it happnz den d person must turn to an Evangelist on Campus!
I WANT TO AGREE WITH U:
CANDIDATES WHO DID NOT DO C.O.C WUD BE ASSUMED NOT TO BE INTERESTED IN UI ADMISSION ANY LONGER.
HENCE UI WOULD RATHER CONSIDER THOSE THAT DID C.O.C WITH CLOSE MARK TO D CUTOFF AS THEY WUD NOT WANT THERE TO BE VACANCY.
I THINK DIS IS VERY LOGICAL ENOUGH
**Anything aside this am sorry to say is logical fallacy**

7. The cooks: these ones enter d kitchen more

YOUR FIRST PARAGRAPH,YEAH!SURE!
UR SECOND P?KINDA SHA!
CAUSES courses available in C.O.C wud have candidates admitted according to how high their score is(are);
Candidates wud be screened to their 2nd or third choice course wic cud be the likes of courses you afforementioned.
Meanwhile considering candidates for courses without making C.O.C,cud exist dats is if those who passed above 50% are very few WITH SPACES MUCH LEFT LIKE U SAID.

10 people walked into a fast-food joint to chow meat-pie(mbbs), and 5 were served the meat-pie(merit-list). The food attendant(admission office/officer) then realised the meat-pie left wldnt be enough, and discreetly told d remaining 5 dat it seems meat-pie wldnt be enuf for all, and told them to try sausage. 3 of d friends opted for sausages while the other 2 didn't make alternative demand. Here's what I feel wld happen...........

If the meat-pie left is jst 2, the attendant wld serve those who alternatively asked for sausage the sausages, and offer the 2 people the meat-pie left, since the other 3 have already settled for sausages(altho discretion wld be applied).

But in the case where there is no more meat-pie left, the 3 dat opted for sausage wld get a snack at least, while the 2 who didn't make alternative demand might nt be served.

So it's a misplaced notion to feel or say those who didn't apply for C.O.C wld be considered as nt interested in admission anymore. The main factor is the quota. If there are spaces left, those who didn't opt for C.O.C and scored closest to cut-off wld surely be considered for 2nd batch, as against what lexxy and JSM quoted!

Lolz... u no dey tire for argument.. your view as you said, might not b the line and strategy used on the admission this year.. Marc, the university is not at loss If a student did not get admitted just because he/she did not follow the stipulated law! it was boldly written that all candidates that did not meet up with the cut off should do COC, and even if you will now expect a.miracle, u need to just be obedient at first.. 1samuel 15:22..."To obey is better than sacrifice" .. Even if the university will go by what u typed up there, they will still prefer those that had closer marks and opted for COC, than a candidate that doesn't even have anyone in the university to bank on for some staff list(as heard), didn't obey the rule and keeps praying for a miracle... Plenty are called but few were chosen... I believe in miracle thou, so much...

1st of all, u didn't construe my point.

2nd of all, some courses didn't appear in C.O.C application, yet there are still spaces left. So whether d highest score candidate applied for C.O.C or not, he'd be considered for d 2nd batch

3rd of all, UI didn't mandate candidates to apply for C.O.C. It was more of an advice to consider it. There's a difference btw..'Candidates are required or must apply, and...'Candidates are advised to consider. So what's the obedience and sacrifice in that? Of course d quota is the main factor!
The epitome u just gave is mere imagination jur!
The rule is conceivable as have earlier said;
EVEN FOR OAU PREDEGREE,U MIGHT END UP NOT GETTING ADMISSION WHILE WE HAVE PEOPLE WITH LOWER MARKS COMPARE TO URS HAVING ADMISSION THOUGH NOT D MAIN COURSE COURSE D QUOTA IS ALREADY FILLED;
Why dis?Cause the later did change of course!
ASSUME MBBS P.D CUTOFF IS 83% WHILE DENTISTRY IS 77% 4 U TO GET DENTISTRY while u didn't put in 4 it in d first place,d new cutoff 4 u could be made 81%.
Meanwhile u didnt make C.O.C,u dey expect ur name on list 4 ur main course is very risky why the school wud assume u are no longer interested per say u no dey available reason 4 d unavailability of urs d school wont care 2 know.Had u gaim admission somwhr else left to u.
Due to want of quota to be filled,d school wud rather consider those who are actually intered in her admission(did C.O.C);

BUT THEN U NEED TO TAK TIME 2 COCEIVE MY POINT;
We are told to change course of wic was said wud be three choice but found out two choice available meaning d original course is still considered should I SAY THE THIRD BUT FIRST CHOICE STILL?
Meanwhile its more than probable that UI would not consider those that did not do C.O.C for reasons I mind 2 mention.
If and only if UI wud consider admission for those who didnt do C.O.C all to fill d quota,those that have same score but did C.O.C wud at same time b considered.

Successful people in life are RISK-TAKERS! Dangote risked investing the N500,000 grant his uncle gave to him, and at the end, he turns out to be Africa's richest man!

'What u stand to gain justifies the risk'. I cannot stake N100 for a N500 gain. But I can stake N100 for a N5000 gain. My point is, MBBS is worth taking d risk. What's d point aiming for MBBS, only to end up settling for integrated science in C.O.C? That's like turning a soldier to a shoe-maker. It's better to risk it and eida win much to celebrate, or lose to try again! It wldnt k*ll to try again!

People would say... A living dog is better than a dead lion, but I ask dem.... Why is d price of d skin of d dead lion 50times more expensive than any living dog?. That's food for thought! smiley
