Am still on no.1 but no.2 answer is C . . . . . A= 3/2root2 B= 2root2/3 . Now A/9 : B/9 3/2root2 ÷ 9 : 2root2/3 ÷ 9 »» 3/18 : 2/27 »» 1/9 : 1/9 »» 1/9 ÷ 1/9 »» 1/9 * 9/1 = 1. |

finally my brethren, if you meet these types of questions in any job interview, pls choose your answers as C for question 1 and C for question 2. this is because the ppl who kno better THINKS that those contained the answers to the questions. Remember, it's not being right that is important, but being wise! Good people do things right, but wise people do the right things. You might have every good reason to disput with the answers, but even what all of us are giving as answers contraddict one anoda. so as the OP of this post, i want to appreciate everyone who has contributed to dis post, especially @ kentinickole and eckersley. we have all learnt from you...even though we didnt all agree to one answer (i put dat blame on those who may have typed the questions and without being careful enough might have introuced one error or the other into the questions), we have all exercised deep level of learning. i encourage you all to also watchout for more technical but well-constructed interesting past aptitude test questions, cos there is the chance to show us some skills you ve got. thank you very much. For my two friends who chose to turn my post into a luv garden, i appreciate u both. we may well dedicate this post to you both cos you have let us kno dat despite all d disagreements, LOVE will still end it all. love ya all! |

belovedsamex: WATCH OUT FOR GINI? Come ooo, nor just try yourself ooo. Nor just try post any other question for this place oo. 'Finally my brethren,' Which kyne talk be that? Na church we dey? Abi na the love wey u dey give kudos to wan solve the maths or give answers to the interview questions? My own be say my answer and my guy from FUTA 400L maths dept na im over correct. The beauty of maths is that the answer to it is one and the same universally. So why ask people to choose 'wisely' and not 'correctly'. By the time dem follow the wise answer them go dey jobless come finally pack go village dey sidon everyday with the 'wisemen' for village dey drink palmi. BOTTOM LINE MY PEOPLE ALWAYS CHOOSE THE CORRECT/RIGHT ANSWER. Cos even Bible say a fool is wise in his own eyes. Maths no be subjective subject ooo. Una doooh |

Greeting to you from the Special One, Krumbaga! The Special One has asked me to enlighten you. Even after the Special One had given correct answers to these problems, One of the first to give a concrete answer this simple nonsense, the Op is still thinking otherwise, giving subjective answers. The Special One would want you to prove to him beyond any reasonable doubt that 44% is the right answer to question one. (Pls make proofs as short as possible) The Special One wants to let you know, that "making a profit of 20%.." is different from "making a profit of 20% on the selling price". Going by your premises/propositions, Mortals who have exceeded the knowledge by reason will tell you (I stand to be corrected) that when dealing with problems like this, proximity or closest reference comes in to place. Markup is the percentage of the cost price at which the seller is going to make a profit. When used inconclusively like what you have done, the "profit is the markup". Let go the relative way: with reference to the seller, the markup would be the profit so far it is not otherwise stated. A seller will and always makes references to his cost price: cost of capital, cost of land, cost of interaction with the omnipotent (which is purity), cost of... The buyer on his part, will always make reference to the selling price at which he bought the product. The buyer is not interested and not aware of the cost price. His Principal, is the selling price, the price he paid for the product. Eg. when the buyer is trying to simulate the percentage profit which the seller has made. This brings us to a very SIMPLE conclusion within the realms of reason that your question, whether sourced or ingenious, you have erred in your answer. Going by your premises in which the seller is the principal or primal, the MARKUP is as well as THE PROFIT. This is crystal clear, if you have had the opportunity to work in-house in groceries, you will get to understand this better. Now to your second question, no. 2 which you are luckily in line with the Special One (luck, because you have no basis to that), but the Special One would want to make it very clear to you that going by your premise, if there could be any answer with the realm of reason (a source of knowledge possessed by higher animals), ab MUST NOT BE EQUAL TO 0 where neither a nor b are expressions (The Special One stands to be corrected to this). Making ab=0 implies leaving the level of reason to that of intuition, which is a rare gift possessed by individuals of which the Special One, Krumbaga is. Note: ab=0 results to unification (Gaggot) and can only be solved by intellectuals at the level of intuition. If we are to descend to the plane of reason, although erroneous, the unification could simply be expressed as 1. OP, you still have a lot to learn The peace of the Special One be with you Viktor SA to Krumbaga. |

Guys look at this question from one of the aptitude tests too. If 3x-2y=8, then 4y - 6x is (a) -16 (b) -8 (c) 8 (d) 16 (e) cannot be determined In the solution they got -16. I understood how they got it but do you guys think it's the right way to solve it? If i'm to choose, i will go with (e) Cc: Belovedsamex Kentnickole eckersley Naturalwaves Femi4 Kylekent59 Kingkaspa Obinoscopy akalaka1 other mathematicians in d house |
Re: Solve These CHEVRON Interview Questions by kingkaspa: 5:30pm On Oct 09, 2014 |
Valentinooo:-16 is the right answer. Multiply both side by -2 and you have -6x + 4y=-16 or rearranging you have 4y -6x=-16. |

Valentinooo:Hello bro, I am here o. This should be an easy one. Just assume the value of the equation we do not know to be a constant say "b". Try solving the equations simultaneously, the values of "x" and "Y" will cross out leaving you with only the specific value of "b" .When I solved it, I got "-16". Here is my solution; 1 Like

Re: Solve These CHEVRON Interview Questions by Kentnickole(m): 7:09pm On Oct 09, 2014 |
Valentinooo: 3X - 2Y = 8 .......... (1) -6X + 4Y = Z ......... (2) Elimination: 3X - 2Y = 8 .......... (3) x (-6) -6X + 4Y = Z ......... (4) x 3 -18X + 12Y = - 48 ... (5) -18X + 12Y = 3Z ..... (6) Substract Equation (6) from (5): 0 = -48 - 3Z Add "3Z" to both sides: 3Z = -48 Z = -48/3 Z = -16 Hence, option (A) is the answer. 1 Like |

Valentinooo: Greetings to you from the Special One, Krumbaga. The Special One is presently communicating with the omnipotent. I saw the question although an answer was already proffered which was absolutely right. Permit me to say that I was dropped at the door of intuition on seeing the question, knowledge/answer came in a flash! 3x-2y=8; then -6x+4y=z 3x-2y, as an expression is a factor of the expression -6x+4y. factorising -6x+4y: -6x+4y=-2(3x-2y)=-2(=-16=z in just a line!.
