All the best to you guys. Please try and give us a feedback on ur session with the directors
Re: Huawei Graduate Trainee Recruitment 2014 by ibksolar: 7:07pm On Sep 09, 2014
Hey guys, meeting with board of directors was so-so. Guess that's why no one came back to give a lowdown.

I dint get the job eventually but it's OK.

I'm doing this for others that may get the invite much later tho it seems they already have enough for the year.

But ours we enter this way...

32 smart folks invited, 15 selected.

You know your fate immediately after the session.

What more?
1st you describe yourself in some 2-3min.

Then some random questions based on what others said.

If you have a first class mention it loud. If you also speak other languages like French, etc...say it to.

Then you're given a list of 15 core qualities to rearrange in your own way from the most important to the least important.

Then you're broken down into groups to do thesame chore.
A group leader is selected: try to be one because that seem like automatic selection else try to be very active in your group.

And then, the Rep for each group does a presentation to explain the groups choices.

Then....the final selection.

I think I've tried.
Hope to answer more questions next time I come around .

My best wishes.

The qualities are intertwined and no correct answer e.g, result oriented, integrity, able to withstand pressure, highly motivated etc, infact all the qualities of a leader, the most important thing you should bear in mind is, 1. Be able to speak up and let your voice be heard, 2. In the group work, when you give a suggestion back it up with a cogent reason, even if it's not acknowledged by the group, don't worry one of the panelist might like what you said, 3. Do not speak negatively of any of your group members and be honest in responding to questions like nominate so so number of people that should be or not be given an offer especially according to performance and lastly, try to be either the group leader, time keeper or the one that writes on the board...

I wrote on the board for my group, was the time keeper too and still.....no show.

That's not to discourage anyone from taking up such responsibilities but there might be more to it than just that.

You'd expect that in an interview consisting of closely and almost equally qualified folks, the selection yardstick will be dynamic and not totally predictable.

So...

Give your best, pray hard and hope for the best!

BTW if anyone has/hears of a good offer for me: I'm your Elect Elect brother, kindly holla @me
Ibksolar@gmail.com.

Gracias!

Sorry bro, but one thing though, you being the time keeper and the one that wrote on the board at thesame time means you may not have contributed much to the debate because those 2 roles are for 2 different people whom must also contribute to the debate, yes the yardstick is dynamic, but one thing I know is they prefer evenly shared delegated roles and not one person trying to do everything

Good day all,

First, thanks a lot to all those that have contributed to this thread especially ibksolar and slimtriggaman.

Here's just to share my experience in the Huawei recruitment process in hopes it would help someone else in the future. A lot has already been said by ibksolar and slimtriggaman but to add my 2 cents:

1) To prepare for the aptitude test, try some sample GRE questions. It's helpful to have an idea of the type of questions that would be asked - it'd make you faster on the actual test. Searching on Google for sample questions could help.

2) For the Technical Interview, study the material hard - to the best of your ability. And while waiting for the interview, try reviewing with other interviewees - it could help.

3) For the HR interview, it could help to revise how you would introduce yourself, your background and how Huawei fits into your future goals. Also revise about the company, it's values etc. Try searching online for tips and advice on general job interview. You might not have to answer these questions and your interview MIGHT be much easier but there's never any harm preparing harder than required.

4) For the big one: the Directors' Interview:
A) Stuff that may increase your chances:
i - Having a good background: first class, foreign degree or relevant experience (in Telecom company). In my experience, most of such graduates if not all were selected.
ii - Being a group leader, one that writes on the board, or presenter (in my case, the presenter was different from the leader). All but one of folks that held these 3 posts were selected. [And maybe being the time keeper, but I'm not sure.] BUT don't take up this post if you may not be able to fulfill it properly and also don't force yourself upon others if you're not selected, rather:
iii - Be active in the group, let yourself be heard (but explain yourself and don't scream!), and interact with the group leader and other members nicely. This would lead to the 4th point:
iv - When others are asked to select people to be chosen, I noticed it was mostly the group members and those described above in (i) [i.e. with foreign degrees or first class]. Getting selected by these should increase your chances.

B) Stuff that may decrease your chances:
i - Badmouthing others: speaking badly about other group members. If you may disagree, explain your stance politely.
ii - Screaming during the team work just to be heard especially when you're unable to explain your points
iii - Try your very best NOT TO ARRIVE LATE! You may be automatically be kicking a lifetime opportunity down the drain ....

C) Extra stuff:
i - When asked to introduce ourselves, we were told to do so in 30 secs.
ii - They had asked for those who had experience with NEPA/PHCN. We noticed afterwards that all those that stood up then were not picked. I don't know if there's any connection or just a coincidence.
iii - Listen to and follow instructions closely.
iv - Try to note those with first class or foreign degrees during the introductions and pay attention (and perhaps, take notes) when the film is played.

ibksolar:
Hi guyz, sorry it took me a while to get back here.

The test format is Nordic difficult;
60 questions in an hour.

First mathematics: 20 questions Calculator allowed
I guess they have series of questions they pull from. But the questions aren't too difficult. Basic GMAT kind of thing.
The one I did has more of this two statements and a question: data sufficiency in GMat.
Then some fraction based questions

Then 20 questions English.
A passage with about 7 questions, then critical reasoning and..... Can't remember it all.
But the one I did didn't have synonyms and antonyms in it.

Then the last set is technical set of questions.
Computer related questions , types of antennas,
Parallel and series combination of capacitors and resistors particularly
The material that conduct the most of copper, iron, zinc....

That's all I can remember for now.

Wish all those writing all the best.

Plus I got my invite without knowing anyone though I found out later that i have some friends working there.

About transparency, I'm not so sure but I don't think they are so shady.
At least some big-men pikin sef come write the test.

All the best again!

Got any tips for technical interview?
