I recently opened my computer business centre. I like to learn a few things about the operation, in terms of services to be rendered and cost etc. I hope others can learn from this thread. |

How much does it cost u to set it up?..., and how many computers? |
Re: Thread For Computer Business Centre/cybercafe Owners by jmoore(m): 9:14am On Oct 08, 2014 |
nuelsylves: It is not yet fully equipped. My space can contain 10 computers but I started with only 2 desktop computers and 1 laptop( private). Other things are 3 in 1 printer(which includes scanner, colored photocopier n the printer), photocopier for the normal black and white photocopying. I will get more computers when I get students for computer training. 1-Photocopier(2nd hand)= 40,000 Naira 2- 3 in 1 printer(brand new)= around 13,000 Naira(I forgot the exact price, I got to check the receipt later) 3- 2 desktop computers(2nd hand)@ 25,000 Naira each 4- Paper cutter(brandnew) 3,000 Naira Total=106,000 Naira I don't think I should include my personal laptop to the above. "In my fathers house there are many rooms", so no paying of rent. Include rent costs if you are not the owner. 1 Like |

jmoore:so a place like P.H can that 500,000k gt me an office as well as the 10computers? |
Re: Thread For Computer Business Centre/cybercafe Owners by jmoore(m): 9:40pm On Oct 08, 2014 |
nuelsylves:I don't know if second hand computers are cheaper in Aba or Ph. I have no idea about rent charges in Ph but I guess it should be on the high side. If the office is 8,000Naira per month then that should be 96K per year. Find a suitable place that won't cost you much. 500k is ok if that is what you want to start with. |

nuelsylves: Geographical location matters. Don't expect much from internet browsing because most Nigerians access the internet with their mobile devices. Other services like recharge card printing can increase your revenue. Please ask your friend how much he charges for computer training? 1 Like |

The business is still profitable outside lagos. Lagos is overserved except the exterior part of lagos and besides, alot of people do their browsing on tablets and smart phones at affordable rate and the services are fairly good.Other service bring in more income, depending on how smart the owner is. |

nuelsylves:don't compare your friends earnings to what u hope to earn. You could earn more. Best location will be in a university environs. Thins and xpensive in PH, badnews is your rent may take up half of that 500k, I suggest u start like the Op "small, start that small"... 1 Like |

I can supply a complete set of 2nd hand computer (Desktop, Monitor, keyboard and Mouse) at the rate of N20,000 each. I am based in Lagos. N/B: I will not advise anybody that wants to run a biz centre to buy new printers, they are fragile. Second hand printers last longer than new ones - talking from experience.
