Let me say right off the bat that I’m not a fan of makeup for kids.As a man it always made me wonder: What are they hiding? I get that makeup can make women feel better about themselves, but unfortunately for those who were hiding things like, say, acne, makeup sucks as a cover up: Foundationed pimples are no better then regular pimples. (Believe me when I say I have empathy for sufferers of acne.i have a friend whose face was one big suppurating wound.) but according to this report;culled from http://www.telegraph.co.uk,makeup for kids is bad news. "Beauty products such as mascara, eye shadow and foundation reportedly have been found to contain chemicals which can be linked to conditions such as cancer, infertility and hormone imbalance. The study, carried out by The Environmental Working Group, found the younger a girl was when she started using make-up, the greater the danger. Most British girls do not wear make-up before the age of 11, but some salons and products are available to children as young as six. According the The Sun, the EWG study on girls aged between 14 and 19 found all the beauty products they tested contained chemicals which could be dangerous, such as phthalates, triclosan, parabens and musks. These chemicals have been linked in the past to cancer and hormone problems and scientists fear they may end up be connected to depression. The EWG, which is based in Washington, discovered that young teenagers tend to use around 17 beauty products a day - such as nail polish and hair dye - while adults use 13. Stacy Malkan, co-founder of the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics, told The Sun: "By the time most girls become teenagers many have a daily make-up ritual. "As the layers add up so does exposure to dangerous chemicals and that's very bad news for a young girl's health." |

Only a fool would put looking pretty above good health. Make ups have chemicals that can easily affect the child but not adults. The effects may show up in later years...then what? I totally disagree. |

Now that modern day moms have turned their kids to accesories, I wonder what they will be doing next. I say let these little girls be little girls, let them grow. Let them learn the joys of trial and error make up at a youthful age if they must use it. I think mothers who use make up on their kids really rob them of the innocent and simple joys of childhood. 1 Like |

Honey, don't try that on my baby... Baby, don't try that on you body... IT'S SO SO WRONG. . . You think you're older and you needed some make ups to look younger SO what do you expect the baby to look for wanting to make her up? Older? |

Is it ever OK to make little babies up? Little babies are beautiful without make up. NO! They don't need it! |

Appalling to say the least! why would a parent steal a child's childhood before the child grows eh? They grow too soon as it is these days. Are they for sale to the highest bidder? I hear mothers say I buy high heeled shoes for my 5 yr old so she gets used to wearing them before she is grown up. How about the muscles and joints and eventuall harm to her posture when she is grown? I really cant understand what parents are up to. Trying to hide your own insecurity by using your child is criminal. Let girls be girls! I have seen preteen girls dress up in provocative clothes and wonder who bought the clothes exposing body parts to leery paedophiles. Please parents learn what responsible parents are saying here: http://nigerianparentsforum.com/index.php/kunena/general-discussion/9348-worried-about-your-teenager-s-dress-code |

nattie5:Call it inferiority complex or whatever you like.As for me am a make-up lover & I intend to take make-up classes inorder to make women look beautiful during my free time as a side job.Is it now a crime for one to raise his /her opinion because one will be labelled A or B? Please, I don't know why people like to major in minors instead of dwelling on the more complex issues.I hope to be a make-up Mom & I have no apology or regrets. |
