Walmark,

Why are you shortchanging yourself. An architectural draftsman is lower than your degree.

Why didn't you apply to be assessed as an architect?

Hi Cypha 8, Did I hear you say you got positive assesment from vetassess?
Congratulations! And how did you do it?
Though I have B.Tech in Architecture (2009) also, I just submitted my application for assessment to Vetassess and i nominated Architectural Draftsperson when I wasnt sure degree in Architecture would be accessed at par with Australia Architect ure degree. Hoping to receive a positive response.
deg

Cyph8 got a positive assessment. HOWEVER, there is only one state offering sponsorship in Aus, Northern Territory, and they are quite picky.

I heard assessing as an Architect is quite difficult. That's one of the reasons Cyph8 assessed as Architectural draftsperson.

@drumma. I dont think the booklet is voluminuos to read. Just dedicate time and energy. It is high we research before asking questions. Besides, bosslady had done a great job by explaning the process and links for the PR route.

Nothing good comes easy. If he wants to be spoon-fed, this thread is the last place for it.

He said he doesn't have time for TOEFL...ehn no wahala, siddon for Naija na.

I will prepare hard. I must not score below 7. Mine is not Academic.

The reading section can be quite tricky. If they say NOT MORE THAN 2/3 WORDS, don't use more. If they say use words from the essay, USE WORDS FROM THE ESSAY, don't paraphrase. The True or False or Not Given can also be tricky. Don't imply what is not written in the essay. Don't assume. Answer T/F/NG according to what is written in the essay, what the answer is in the essay, and not what you think or feel the answer shoulf be.

For the writing, you have to practice well. There are some set formats to follow. Also, don't write below the required number of words, and don't over-use words from the question itself. INTRODUCTION - DISCUSSION 1 - DISCUSSION 2 - CONCLUSION...that is the skeleton fod the essay. Also, for the section 1 essay, know the appropriate tone of writing and closing for the formal letter, semi-formal and informal letter.

For the speaking.....well that's based on how good your vocabulary is. Good eye-contact is a plus.

For the listening...be attentive, dazall!

To everyone coming to Australia soon, be prepared to be sent to the quarantine section where you are most likely to answer the following questions, based on my personal experience:

Have you had fever in the last few days?
Have you attended or helped anyone with ebola in the past days/week?
Have you handled or come in close contact with corpses bla bla bla

After you answer these questions, you would be given a pamphlet containing some numbers you should call if you feel unwell within the next 21 days.

They were really friendly - I remember having a brief chat with them about how Nigeria was able to contain the deadly virus.... and yes, they are aware that Nigeria currently has no case of ebola. However, each passenger coming in from West Africa (you need to declare this on your landing card) is subjected to such interview.
@all don't be scared, it's not actually quarantine as in quarantine. .. it's just for u to stand aside and wait for them to ask u those questions orally... no big deal Australians are really friendly I tell u this... my 2 cents...

You have to look through the SOL and CSOL once more, to determine which occupation and its duties closely match you and your wife's work experience.

Choosing the right occupation is not only a function of your education, your work experience also matters. If you had work experience as a chemist or anything related to it, you could have gone for Chemist.

However, not all occupations require you to have a degree in the same field as your occupation. So like I said earlirr, look through the SOL and CSOL again, and choose an occupation which involves the same duties as what you and/or your wife currently do.
