dabriggs:Sorry for the mistake in the "praying to Jesus thing" but you still didn't answer my question. We Catholics also pray to God through Christ, but you still have told me where it is stated in the bible that it is wrong for we Catholics to ask Mary to intercede for us or why we should believe it is wrong. And again don't tell me because it is not stated in the bible to do so because I will turn back and ask you y you think whatever is not stated in the bible is wrong. That's all. |

dikenna: Ha ha ha...Ok so when the bible says ''While He was still speaking to the crowds, behold, His mother and brothers were standing outside, seeking to speak to Him.Someone said to Him, "Behold, Your mother and Your brothers are standing outside seeking to speak to You...'' and ''Isn't this the carpenter? Isn't this Mary's son and the brother of James, Joseph, Judas and Simon? Aren't his sisters here with us?" And they took offense at him''. It could have meant his relatives with his mother? ha ha ha okay fine. So let us assume that suddenly it was just his cousins with his mother, are we saying Joseph who never divorced her did not sleep with Mary? Are we saying they did not or would not have had sexual contact? Did God expressly remove the desire for sex from Mary who is human? Or was Joseph staying with her forever without the desire of having sex with her? If these things are almost impossible, then are we saying Mary lost the ability to give birth after Christ was born? |

OLAADEGBU:leave him alone,he is so naive and devoid of biblical tenets that he may perpetually remain an ignoramus(that's my fear).in line with what you said, they WORSHIP Mary more than they worship God(i pity thier souls and where they are heading for).in addition to your soul-saving write-up/post for which they(catholics)should be thanking you is the fact that they are IDOLATERS(no judging).this is because they mold frightening statutes of either Mary or Jesus(most often Mary) which they either kneel before or bow to.whereas the bible says in Exodus 20:3-5. “You shall have no other gods before me. “You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. You shall not bow down to them or serve them, for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and the fourth generation of those who hate me, but showing steadfast love to thousands of those who love me and keep my commandments.i bet you(catholics) to deny that the content of the verses above is obtainable in your misleading doctrine.THE STUBBORN FLY GOES WITH THE CORPSE INTO THE GRAVE.a word is enough for the wise, change from your perverse and heretic ways of worship simple. 1 Like |

Mehn see the difference. In one case you are praying to God through Jesus. In the other case, you are asking Mary to help you pray to Jesus, his son who will not refuse her requests. Either way, you are not bypassing Jesus. So get that into your head and stop asking the same question everyday. Poznan: |

Every bible believer and any person who truly reads and study the bible without adding or removing anything from it. Also allows the bible to interpret itself with the help of Holy Spirit would understand that there is never an iaota of truth that Mary interceeds or mediate for man. She is a human being who found favor from God . Read the bible she too became a Christian and she died and she is sleeping in the grave waiting for resurrection with other saints. She is dead, she is dead or asleeeep . It is only Jesus who interceeds and mediates for us. No other person or name. Many have been indoctrinated and they hardly read the bible rather chose to read other materials full of men's idea and traditions. Simple Mary is dead and asleep waiting for resurrection with other believers. Anything besides this is antichrist spirit that dwells in anyone who follow this teaching but ignorant of it. 1 Like |

Haven't you just added to the bible by stating that any addition is just tradition of men and we are free to choose after consulting the bible(whatever that means) or is that stated in the bible? If yes please where? And if ni where did you get the knowledge. That's all. |

Op really like the way you treated the topic, never directed it at any one or denomination, but those that feel it applys to them are reacting, I believe this isn't a topic to argue, he has just given the real analysis, it's clear that Catholics will never accept, no matter the analysis, they will always find a way to back it up, with facts that do not exist, have had such arguments before and it ends up in abuses as its going on now.. OP you have made your point and we that know how right you are have accepted, let those that do not accept just keep quite rather than raising unnecessary arguments. |

Non catholics keep bringing up Mary when they want to argue. I'd rather hounor someone. Who was given the grace to bear our LOrd Jesus christ, than hounor a man of God whom I know not if he is really called by God.. People should remove the stick in their eyes before trying to remove plank from another's Same people that will carry thei so called pastors on their head, obey their pastors more than even the word of God. Nawa. I rest my case. Glory to Jesus Honour to Mary.. Salvation is a personal race! 4 Likes |

dabriggs:Please read carefully and seek to understand. The bible passage above only states the following, 1) That mary is christ mother. 2) That christ had brothers and sisters. It didn't say mary had other children. The brothers of christ could have been close relatives, step brothers or adopted children of mary. As To why out of all these options Catholics refuse to accept that mary had other biological children please read the link my fellow brother gave to you. Please just give him the benefit of doubt. That's all. |

Ichiato: IT WAS GLARRINGLY STATED HOW TO PRAY! The ten commandments gave instructions about uses of Image in worship. Read the book of Mathew. If the use of Mary was that important, it would have been stated clearly as the WAY TO PRAY. He talked about giving alms, he talked about praying, he talked about fasting, he talked about being good neighbours, he talked about getting close to God. He talked about asking things from God through prayer, he talked about being contrite, he talked about repentance, But forgot to add that we need Mary to intercede of mediate? Christ wouldn't have left that out to talk about other things . HE WOULD HAVE EXPRESSLY STATED IT. This matter is not as little as the wedding feast. It is a vital mater that Christ wouldn't have left out! No way! THE APPOSTLES COULDNT HAVE LEFT OUT SUCH AN IMPORTANT DETAIL SPANNING YEARS AFTER THE ASCENSION OF CHRIST, EITHER BOTH WHEN THEY MET IN HOUSES AND WHEN THEY TAUGHT AND PREACHED THE GOSPELS. But because I believe in humanity and the principle that as long as what you do does not harm me or anyone else and does not encroach on my own freedoms. And as long as we can all live together you bearing in your heart what you believe and professing it without shoving it down my throat and I doing the same, then it is all good. Then I am more open to discussions and rubbing of minds just like we are doing now. 1 Like |

I pray for the soul of catholics every day i was once a catholic too. Catholism is an infusion of the roman idolatry into christianity . The figure catholics potray as Mary is actually 'the queen of the heaven' an ancient babylonian goddess , the romans were very idolatrous they had numerous gods they dedicated various days to which are now the various saints day . I can go on and on but it profits me nothing i pray God open their eyes soon |

Ichiato: Ichiato I have read the link. As a matter of fact I knew about that school of thought prior to this time. Trying to begin to fully give my own school of thought or opinions will be just too tiring for me. As a matter of fact I was about declaring my intention to debate on this no further. Yes more points are there to be made both from your end and maybe mine. But I think the facts stated are already substantial enough for peoples reading pleasure and information. In human psychology, to what holds true for you and satisfies or fills the void for lack of truth is what we accept. If new questions arise, new answers will be sought. Perhaps within the principles and doctrines of what we believe, and/or perhaps without. Let us all keep searching. To this we continually thank God that we have had this much years to live and seek his truth and work towards the way. This is so that we aren't burdened by guilt or sin and as such cannot live in the society of eternity where sin will not be welcome. A society in which the right to exist you must have earned by have striving through grace to live without sin (in this world of ours) in order to merit this new system which he promised. 1 Like |

Re: "What Does The Bible Say About The Virgin Mary?" by Nobody: 1:17pm On Oct 12, 2014 |
Well, the fact remains that catholics are getting their facts wrong! There's nowhere in the bible that states Mary made heaven, neither was there anywhere that said Mary should be honoured in our prayers. In fact, paul who wrote several books deserves the honour more than Mary who didn't write a single page, let alone a book. Jesus is our only intercessor, our only mediator. All honours and adorations in line with prayers must be directed at Christ, and not Mary. John 2 : 4........ Jesus said unto her, WOMAN(not mother) what have I to do with thee.... That clearly shows she was a chosen vessel, not a chosen prophetess, or woman of God! Whoever does the will of his father was much loved by Jesus, than what he felt for his mother. That's just the fact!!!! |

dabriggs:I really like the manner in which you address this matter. Hence my persistence in replying you. Please note that I am in no way saying that praying to God through christ alone is wrong. We Catholics are also free to pray the same way. But my arguments involves the saying that mary cannot intercede for us or as I will unapologetically put it that it is wrong to pray to mary. There is nothing in the bible that suggests it wrong. You mentioned christ teaching us how to pray as if nobody new how to pray before christ came. Didn't people pray before the coming of christ or those prayers are wrong too. In the old testament and even in the new, we have heard of passages where the isrealites called on the God of Jacob, God of Isaac, God of David. Ask yourself why? didn't they know his name yahweh or jehover as some would say, to call him by that? Think about it brother. I still say it is not wrong to pray through mary. I suggest you revelation 12: 1-17 and see what you make of it. 4 Likes 1 Share |

KingsleyJay:have you read the chapters and verses he included in his comment? the point he is trying to prove to you here is that brethern in the bible does not necessarily mean blood brothers like you guys is trying to make it look like .but let me ask you question here. if Jesus have other siblings like you guys claim, why did He hand His mother over to John.in John 19:26-27.when He said to the mother," mother behold they son,son behold they mother, and bible recorded on that hour that John took Mary back to his own house.my question now is, why handing the mother over to someone else while His siblings is around? why did John took mary back to his own house instead of her children's house who can take care of her since the elder brother is dead? if i may suggests, does that not signifies somebody who does not have any other son,my last question, why is it that bible did not record any intervention from His siblings to help Him during his time of trial and persecution? i rest my case. 1 Like |

This is the islamic view of mary(peace be unto her) Mary (مريم Marīam in Arabic), the mother of Jesus (Isa), is considered one of the most righteous women in the Islamic tradition. She is mentioned more in the Quran[2] than in the entire New Testament and is also the only woman mentioned by name in the Quran.[3] According to the Quran, Jesus was born miraculously by the will of God without a father. His mother is regarded as a chaste and virtuous woman and is said to have been a virgin. The Quran states clearly that Jesus was the result of a virgin birth, but that neither Mary nor her son were divine. In the Quran, no other woman is given more attention than Mary and the Quran states that Mary was chosen above all women: Behold! the angels said: "O Mary! Allah hath chosen thee and purified thee – chosen thee above the women of all nations. —Quran, sura 3 (Al Imran), ayah 42[4] The nineteenth chapter of the Quran, Maryam (sura) is named after her and is, to some extent, about her life. Of the Quran's 114 suras, she is among only eight people who have a chapter named after them. Mary is specifically mentioned in the Quran, alongside Asiya, as an exemplar for all righteous women.[5] Mary plays an important role in Islamic culture and religious tradition, and verses from the Quran relating to Mary are frequently inscribed on the mihrab of various mosques, including in the Hagia Sophia.[6] |
Re: "What Does The Bible Say About The Virgin Mary?" by greaterlove(m): 1:25pm On Oct 12, 2014 |
Sometimes I wonder what the argument is all about? Some want to go through Mary, who will then relay the message to Jesus for onward transmission to God. Some want to go through their pastors, who will then relay the message to Jesus for onward transmission to God. Some want to go through Jesus who will then relay the message to God. Some want to go to God direct. So whichever one you believe in, the question should be " are my prayers being answered?". If they are being answered, then good for you. |
