timpaker: HONEYMOON IN YEMEN (Limerick)

The first honeymoon at southern Yemen
Was tensed, I spent nights to break a hymen
On patient tears and bruised knees
With each day ending in pleas.
May patience not burst my sack of se. men!

cheesy cheesy cheesy

Wrote this for a guy whom might feel heart broken 'coz of my action...

Someday you'll miss me
And rue the day you tossed my love away.
Left a broken dream on a broken heart -
A million sad pieces floating through space
And still sail out to only you

Though I let yours soar like the bird
I wish they'd get trapped in Cupid's net -
An arrow shot of love un-returned
Then you'd feel the pain from a broken wing -
Like a deep-seated fear to love again
Of taking another love's mis-step
And the crash of a breaking heart
The same rhythm like mine.
Only then shall you know my story
And can tell the world the tune of my dirge.

Wow I'm so excited. I just wrote my first tanka ever although this one has a rhyming scheme almost similar to a limerick. And it really has no strong message but all the way all is experimentation. Dunno the title yet but amma name it sha like duh oh.Lols

My First Tanka Ever
In the realm of Scots
The uncomely Thane of Fife
Once envied his wife
But indeed to spare her life
Slew her handmaid in her cot.

THE TALE OF SAMSON
"And Delilah said to Samson, Tell me,
I pray thee, wherein thy great strength lieth,
and wherewith thou mightest be bound to afflict thee"
Judges 16:6, The Holy Bible

A strangest apparition 'twas
Like a moon skirting the rainbow
His silence was her own impulse
Their silvers' pledge pressed her to know
The most fragile of earth's secrets:
What shall be done to lift his strength?
~
Rummaging the haystack of memory
A solitary hymn coiled in misery
Filled Sorek's realm; untold to the heathen
It's stinging verses doubled her aching
Before her behemoth of desire
Down dawns the day in the slopes of Zorah.
~
A Harbinger besought them in a rap
"Neither strong rum nor razor to the scalp
"Should thou him indulge
For he shall be Judge
And save Jacob's seeds from the Philistine"
He fled the sky as brief as Devil's grin.
~
"Wilt thou be weak if a razor I bring
To rid these locks direr than Dagon's wings?"
A subtle question propped up with a press
Of her bosoms on his chest as witness
To testimony of her love for him
She tried all tricks within her darkest whim.
~
Nights blew away like a weak tornado
She ployed him tricklier than the first trio
As deadly as the riddle at Timnath
"How canst thou profess love without your heart?
Tell me I pray thee what thy secret is"
His succumb came at the best of her ruse.
~
Caved in to black goddess of subtlety
Hair-ripped he was; still filled in stark hubris
He swore more terror to the enemy
Alas! Strength's plucked from him so were his eyes
Later proved his noxious side at Gaza
Unfettered in rage had his last slaughter.

Claire's Love in Hell (Tanka)

Claire's hellish romance
Blissful with glittering scars,
Her quaint lover mugged
Her docility, bridling
Her marriage with sweet sorrows

Special dedication to the one who must not be named.
Hope the bas.tard gets jailed and you'd come be my second wifey angry

I pray thee dear Tim
Keep faith with thy love's first wife
Leave thee the ba'stard's own dame.
For better and worse they swore
Through strife, through cuts, through storms.

Oh lookey! My first tanka! cheesygrin

Rejoinder Tanka Lol
The Czar has spoken
Though with my art she implored
Tim my fairer peer
But if my heart she can read
She'd find Tim's plight in myself.

The Tanka form has 5-7-5-7-7 syllable (count)
Your third line has six syllables instead of five undecided
And your fifth/last line has six syllables too instead of seven syllables sad

You did great. cool

I wrote this poem exactly on 24th of August this year. It was period when there was like a dearth of poetry... It was so bad that I couldn't even pen a line or two. So I struggled (believe me, I did) to write something no matter how akward it came out. I also had everyone of my NL poetry friend in mind. Well here it is...

Blank spaces
Void hearts and minds
Reaching out for glories past
For shadows of beautiful dreams gone by
When we weren't gagged from singing
And our Spirits soared like butterflies,
Our mouths filled with paints for the horizon
In beautiful words that left men awed
We knew then, the colours of love
The secret key to stony hearts.
Nature's portrait we easily drew
While our fire burned in fiery flames
Unquenched not by seven seas

Now?
There's even not a smoke where the fire had raged!
Replaced by a struggle for deja vu's wisp
And longings for water under the bridge.
We let go that essence -
The beauty of the inner eye
Untainted
Overflowing
Mesmerizing
Enchanting
Filled with the magic from pen to paper.

Where lay the diversion?
The little yeast that spoilt the dough?
That took away our beautiful lines and rhymes
Leaving only drained out inspiration
We must indee fan the embers
What's life without a line or two to write?
What's poetry if no pen-god serve at his feet?

I guess that was then, but I still wanted to share.

Princesa, I love that zeal to pen even at the point of dearth. This's a reply:

We must indeed fan the embers!
Awaken the anthracite from the dead ashes
With a bag of bellows blowing
Fiery flames to unquenched inferno
Where lay the burning wax of sensational poetry

We must indeed fan the embers
Rekindle the low fire that burns on cold coal
Gulping down the elixir of poetic tea
Then forever, we refine crude words into brilliant piece

What is life without a line or stanza to write?
What is poetry if demigods of pen's wearied mind slip?
We, the harbingers of what pen can do
We pledge our allegiance to poetic statue
That we shall struggle to scribble
Even at the utmost dearth of poetry

princesa(f) hope you like it

My face
Every day, in every way.
I smile in pain, drained in rain.
You dine in fame, I stare in vain.

Every week, in every wake.
I die again, gaining no grain.
You walk in grace, I look amazed.

Every month, in every ounce.
I loose the game, to know your name.
You laugh away, I see the play.

You are not my friend, you are not my foe.
You are just the love, I hate to loose.
I walk in the shadow, I flee at your light.
I stay in your dreams long after you wake,
Hoping that someday, you might see my face.

Wet Music(Tanka)

The sound of cymbals
In the whispers of the wind
Joined by the clap of thunders
The music to which I sing
And dance in the rain

THE MAN BEHIND THE MIRROR

When rain and sun, drops and shines
When flowers and thorns grow in the same bouquet
When love and hates cloak under a garment
When light and darkness appear in a partial shadow
Then how do we separate evil from good
How do we see the man behind the mirror?

When life and death hover around a hanging breath
When countenance of smile and hiss grow on a face
When good and bad amalgamate as a ruler
When the infallible judge sits on a fence
When a coin stands on its rolling edge
Then how do we know the side it shows?

when water and fire well up in a well
when heaven and hell have a single passage
when magnanimous teeth furtively bite
Then how do we see the man behind the mirror?
Who reflects to us our needs in every way
But hides behind, watching as we waste away

When dirge and ode rhyme in one verse
When the holy go on pilgrimage in a cesspool
When wine and venom mix in a bottle
How do we see the man behind the mirror?
Who reflects to us our needs in every way
But stand behind, leading us astray

Lesson Learnt

Shards on the cracked earth
Gathered underwater

Breaths and chokes
Inhales and swallows
Summits and valleys
Forests and meadows

Criss-crossed scars
Trap innocence behind bars

Never whole
Never there
Never again
