I heard lots of people blaring horns this morning tho. And u'll be suprised most of them are car owners, commercial bus drivers adhered a bit sha. All in all,i'm impressed
]LoL!!! Those commercial bus drivers no dey hear word oo. They park anyhow, overtake anyhow, speed anyhow and rain insults anyhow. So the car owners either blare their horn or have their car taken to the panel beater. #NOTE; most commercial bus drivers don't even have horn in their car.

What makes it safe........ Besides have they fixed traffic lights at strategic places to make for free flowing movement.

My guy it is very safe. They are not trying to say the horn should not be used at all, but it should only be used when absolutely necessary, that is the moral. People in Nigeria use their horns as if it is a toy, unnecessarily. The world would be a better place when people start driving with their mind open and not by honking their horns every second. U hear people blazing horns in traffic, at hospitals, in schools and estates. This is an enlightenment to let people know it is possible to drive without the horn, I do it several times.

We keep saying Nigeria is bad, yet when we go to other countries we abide by their rules. I have driven for 3 months outside Nigeria without using my horn and I can tell u it was so peaceful . So why can't we do the same thing in our own country.

It is possible. I drive for days in Lagos without horning

Flashing of full light is more effective

Horn is actually for prompting animals and extreme cases

In fact, I was awoken this morning by the heavy persistent blast of the PSP truck horns telling me to get up and out so I could dispose my rubbish.

Even the LASG doesn't recognise the day

A horn free day is not possible in Nigeria, even if you say you will pay people for not horning... It has become an unconscious thing, and the way people drive demands that you let them see you...

Re: "Horn Free Day": Lagosians, What's The Situation Report At Your Place? by Abee79(m): 9:30am On Oct 15, 2014
The different kinds of horns Nigerian drivers blow as a means of communication:

1. "get out of my way"

2. "you're wasting my time"

3. "good morning/afternoon/night my neighbour!" (usually a short honk, accompanied with a pleasant wave through the window)

4. "if you scratch my car!!!!" (this is often the loudest & longest horn)

5. "move! the traffic light is green"

6. "don't even think of entering my front/overtaking me"

7. "werre" (interpretation: mad man/person)

8. "I dey your side O! (so, don't swerve)

9. "wetin dey worry this one?/pass quick quick jare!!" (to pedestrians crossing the road in front of your car)

10. "peeeeeeem, peeeeeeem" (so that the babe walking on the side of the road would look up/look back)

11. "peeeeeeem, peeeeeeem" "peeeeeeem, peeeeeeem" - for no particular reason

12. "open the gate for me"

13. Indiscriminate horns and honks by commercial drivers/okada riders scouting for passengers

14. "peeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeemmmm" (when you see a 'long-time-no-see' friend/relative inside hold-up)

15.

>>My submission: It is not possible for Nigerian drivers to drop their horn addiction (even for a day) grin
