Sir on plantain i can say you need to reconsider that most time your suckers are not of same size and might not bear fruit at the same time so you can really do that projection of sells as you have stated like if you plant 800 suckers and after 10months the first batch comes out like 20 plantain fruit at same time and may be after another 2weeks another set of 10 comes out with fruit, with these you cant really make much because even the market women will come and give you a very ridiculous price.
the best bet is to get to sell to a processing plant or process it yourself into any end product

You are correct,the best bet is to sell it to a processing plant which is what i does with any of the crop we cultivate.

In a well managed plantain farm, you should be able to have a uniform harvesting if not in the first year but in the second year.

The interval between the first harvest and the other harvest in the first year of production should not be more than 1 month in a well managed plantain farm.

Naso my guy dropped a bombshell on me....
He said... They normally start planting in September. And he has limited offers n d doors of ds opportunity is going to close soon. That I should pay 4 survey fee first 4 my land to be allocated to me.
I was like... guy! I haven't met u,I don't even know ur office n u want me to make payments. guy me nor get mark o.
I even asked him his office,assistants n associates since he is not around. Then he said I shd not worry he's going to have somebody call me soon. So except d person call me ds nite or 2moro morning...lolz.
Somebody called u an internet farmer n I'm not saying u r a Scam(which I still CNT convince myself u r not), but u just don't ask folks to pay money into ur acct without seeing u or knowing u.

The guy is a good guy and not a scam.
I have been investing with him (plantain&cassava and planning to do oilpalm next year) for over 3 years now and nothing like scam or whatsoever.
Although sometimes when you call him,he does not pick his call,he is kind of busy guy and always on the farm site.

simple thing that you should have personally sorted out with him.

When i wanted to start a plantain farm some years back,i saw one of his post and i contacted him,he told me the same thing probably because the season is almost closing in and also i wanted it to be done as soon as possible
Paid the survey and all other expenses and he did execute it well without even seeing him.
Guess that was what might have happen.

He is a customer, if he is pissed there are ways to politely address his concerns rather than telling him not to derail the thread. If he has legit reasons I applaud him for being able to bring it to public, so others can be cautious, something most Nigerians , having been oppressed so much would rather leave to God. If we are planning to compete internationally, these are things we need to pay attention to.
A smart business man would find ways to polish his brand if it seems that a little misunderstanding is trying to smear it.

If workload is overwhelming get someone to read your emails and at least send a temporary reply if they are not able to answer the questions or handle the request. Don't keep potential customers hanging for a week. Granted you are a start-up but little things like this can nip your business in the bud.

If you had handled this properly you could have been 250k-500k richer, this adds to your overall worth. Look at retail giants or farms every kobo adds to the bottom line. No amount is too small even if you are Dangote, if the deal doesnt become yours, that's opportunity lost, and you would be none the richer. Please learn as you go. My unsolicited opinion.
