That's the reason you need to ignore or delete girls with too many friends (especially male) on social networks. I find them boring & annoying virtually and in the real life. In the first place, why would you want to be friends with girls with 1000 male friends?

A girl with 1000, 500, 300 BBM contacts will ultimately ignore her chats for days. You must learn to delete the "irrelevant" ones from your list. That's the best remedy; keep deleting until you meet the few that appreciate conversations (mostly, the mature ones).

btw, I have only 22 BBM contacts (About 15 male). I've stopped adding new friends on facebook (I stopped @ 500+, and about 75% are secondary school pals). Do not keep virtual 'friends' unecessarily.

I really don't have problems with the number of friends per se, but the complaint (about the numerous msgs) is something I don't understand.
