amenamen1010: I was surprised to see the volume of posts after yours and yet there was no reply to your question. Let me attempt to answer. You will need to explain further. They have seen at least one document they think is ingenuine in your docs. The person should ask for clarity. Which doc is ingenuine? That will help you further to know how to proceed. I'm sure there's a way out. |

Peeshaun: It shouldn't be a problem. How many days before the job starts, how many days after? They may not give you all. In your letter of introduction, please clearly state that you want a few days to get used to the country before work starts and a few days after the job to cool off. Cheers and all the best. |

richyben38: Your $1k is enough for the month duration you'll spend here. However, this depends on whether you're lodging in an hotel or having a friend accommodating you. If the first case is ur situation, then I'll suggest you come with more money cos of hotel bills. If however, ur situation is the second scenario, then $1k is ok for you provided you have a return ticket. Many mistakes that Nigerians make while deciding to come here is that, they really do not know that South Africa is not home to Nigerians. What I mean is that, there's high hatred for Nigerians here and no jobs at all here except if you climb the ladder of success like me via studying for your masters and then you can hope of getting a good job and making a dream living that you always wanted. The truth is, many Nigerians are here suffering because they can't find jobs. Many of them do not have good education that can catapult them to get bursary by doing masters. So when they get here, they become stunned at what they see and they won't want to go back to Nigeria cos they've bragged to family n friends that they're traveling abroad. Meanwhile, most of them have good life in Nigeria, but on getting here, they become stucked(no way forward, and backward is impossible) so they become lay-about and often leaves via TC and that's why Nigerian embassy here usually questions them why they are here in the first place. I made that explanation exclusively so that you don't find yourself in such situation if you only want to come here to escape Nigeria via tourist visa, my brother, I will tell you to think twice, or otherwise, if you have money, you may come here and do business or simply further your education to help you get chances of being employed here otherwise, a lot of Nigerians have ended up becoming, barbers, CD sellers etc etc. Just my $1 advice. Take care and goodluck with your dreams!! 1 Like |

Babakenny: Please can you break this down a bit. I mean clarify the first bolded statement. How does the bursary for master degree student work. I just got admission and my co-supervisor just told me i may be given a slot to take tutorial for R1,000/month and he said there is bursary of R4,000/month but i have to register first. Please give me a first hand information on these issues. Thanks. |
Re: General South Africa Visa Enquiries by Babakenny(m): 12:32pm On Oct 16, 2014 |
@Great, I did my Masters many years ago. In my case, I had a full scholarship coupled with monthly stipend at that time. If I remembered correctly when I applied to study in my Engineering field, I applied for scholarship at the time of my Master's application. You can still apply for a bursary if you qualify for it and the expiry date is still valid. You need to have at least 2.1 or above 75% ratings. Once you have those, then you can be rest assured that you'll get the support from your school of choice. Normally, you'll be taken as a graduate assistant and will be reimbursed with your monthly stipend depending on your supervisor and department. Most of the bursaries are for South African citizens but there are bursaries for foreign nationals on merit as well. You'll be given a South African citizenship when however you completed a Phd cos you might have spent over 5yrs while studying. In my case, I became a South African citizens after I got my Phd. So you have an open source in getting this info by checking the website of the school you're enrolled with and the department where you'll study. Hope this helps abit. I would be more than willing to provide more details as you need them. Cheers! |

Re: General South Africa Visa Enquiries by Babakenny(m): 1:23pm On Oct 16, 2014 |
Emasel: Most Universities in SA offers bursaries to international applicants. What you need do is to make a lot of research about the type of scholarship/bursaries that you can meet the requirements. Once you satisfy the scholarship/bursary requirements, trust me, you'll shine. |
