i spent my undergraduate years studying peacekeeping and diplomacy in a very prestigious nigerian university. Now there are several instruments available to a state in pursuance of its foreign policy ( this should not be detached from its national interest) this instruments are institutionalized and recognised by the several institute of international relations and diplomacy scattered around the planet. They are- 1. War,
2. Might of its economy
3. Military might,
4.available mineral resources,
5. Propaganda,
6. Strategic detterence,
7. Alliance and counter alliance,
8. Trade,
9. Diplomatic influence,
10. Bilateral and multilateral treaties,
but the scholars at the south African institute of strategic studies have in their quest to topple Nigeria's interest for the security council seat created a new instrument of states policy this new instrument is know as A55 LICKING DIPLOMACY. You can see the famed Jacob zuma laying down his bald head to the pleasure of his Chinese superior.

Appealing to authority that can or cannot be proved is the oldest trick in the book when debating online. That you studied peacekeeping and diplomacy is a useless statement, unless you want us to take what you say as gospel truth. You are simply another Agaugust with his "I live in the US lines"

Your use of animated vocabulary tells me that you never set foot in any university and are over-compensating Naija style.

Scholars can never have a diplomatic quest. You are a joke.

We are THE SECOND LARGEST home of diplomatic missions in the world.

Oh, by the way, it is Nigerians themselves who sold pieces of their economy to South Africans. That's diplomacy paying off "real guuuurd"

Well, you could remind the "biggest economy in Africa" that they are not in the G20. That's because their diplomatic skills are shyte. Even the chap who claims to have studied and studied and studied diplomacy grin cannot save Nigeria from being either eaten up (read abused) or sidelined (read ignored) by stronger diplomats.

an authority can be or cannot be proved to the extent of your ignorance, laziness or industry( in the case of the former). a simple research on the basics of international relation would teach you all you need to know get the book by Harold Nicholson "Diplomacy" that should be a start for you. Now nobody asked you if your nation has the most missions in the planet, all we re saying is that a southafrican victory in the security council membership race is a failure for Africa as southafrica does not represent the African struggles anymore. Southafrica is what happened when a bunch of uncivilized bushmen ( san, khoikhoi and bantu) failed to protect their territory from white settlers in the 17 century

To show how uneducated your are:

An instrument of DIPLOMACY, you say is:

...

9. DIPLOMATIC influence.

Can't even recognise a circular definition. Give us a break. You are as unschooled as Agaugust. Just lay down your argument and let us judge if it's sound. No need to start a sentence by telling us what degrees you wish you held.

In case you missed it, COUNTRIES.COME.TO.US..

Even Nigeria open the doors to their treasures for us. No shots were fired. grin

Oh, let's not forget that Nigeria was given its name by the wife of a British colonialist, as the pet project that the country was. To prove its status as a pet project, it was simply abandoned and given back to the hapless subjects of Nigeria. It wasn't worth anyone's life...or sweat...or blood.

There is no master of deplomacy, many do it without having perused library. Thabo Mbeki is regarded as the expert in it, but has never specialised on it in terms of his academic achievements.

Meanwhile, Africa all lost their land to colonists except Ethiopia. The fact that you failed to acknowledge that, it gives me doubts to finally conclude that you are just claiming to be international relation university student.

An international relation student who knows nothing about African History. One of the most important module in international relation and diplomacy. You fail just to know that traditional Zulus nod their head when they greet. I think you still have a lot to learn throughout your studies.

i think your president should be giving the Guinness world record for the lowest zulu style nod ever. You don't go to an institute of international relation to study zulu nods, we study the history of inter group relations in precolonial Africa, politics and history of precolonial Africa. The only instance where any student may be compelled to study such culture is when it is of a political significance, take for example the uthman Dan fodio jihad and the advent of Islam in westafrica, a student of international relation or international history does not just go about studying how southafrican precolonial slaves relate with their masters.

year and almost 5000 tanks, Egypt is a
force to reckon with when it comes to
Africa. Having 200 helicopters and 863
military air crafts , 28 mine warfare, 84
serviceable air ports and a yearly budget
of over $ 4 bn on pumped into defense
every 365 days make Egypt one strongest
countries in Africa.
2. ETHIOPIA
Ethiopia has a population of 84 million
people. It is Africa’ s oldest independent
country and its second largest in terms of
population. Ethiopia has found a way to
transform her population into a military
stronghold in Africa. With a man power of
34 million people , 24 million of this
population fit for service and almost 2
million people reaching the military age
every year, the country is one of the
strongest in Africa. Ethiopia has over 300
tanks and 1200 armored vehicles , 147 air
crafts and 68 helicopters to hover around
any country plotting any form of invasion
and of course there is almost $ 300 million
defence budget to take care of things
every 365 days.
SOUTH AFRICA
Republic of South Africa , is an African
country located at the southern tip of the
continent. South Africa is the 25 th largest
country in the world by area and
the 24th most populous country with over
51 million people . When it comes to
military power , South Africa has got what
it takes to be among the top 7 countries
in Africa strong enough to be recognised.
Half of South Africa’s population are
within the manpower class; 14 million are
fit for service and almost a million are
getting to military age annually. South
Africa has 250 tanks and
1590 armoured fighting vehicles ; 240

number of air crafts. 4 frigates and 3
submarines keeps the shores safe. There
is almost $ 5 million pumped into the

country safe
. . NIGERIA

Africa is the country that gives home to a
staggering 160 million people . With the
available manpower of 73 million people ,
there are 40 million people who are fit for
service and 3. 5 million people reaching
the military service year on a yearly basis.
There are 363 tanks and more than 1 ,400
armored vehicles . Nigeria has 294 air
crafts and 84 helicopters than can hover
her skies when they are called upon .
There are 53 serviceable air ports and lots
of labor force (up to 50 million) people.
The large population is kept safe with a
yearly budget of $ 2 .2 bn .
5. ALGERIA
Algeria is a country consisting of 48
provinces and 1541 communes. It is the
34TH most populated country on earth
with a population of more than 37 million.
More than 20 million people make up the
manpower and up to 18 million citizens
are within the service year. The country is
largely financed by oil and Sonatrach , the
national oil company, is the largest
company in Africa. Algeria has the second
largest army in Africa and in the Arab
World, after Egypt, and
has Russia and China as strategic allies,
and arms furnisher. 672 ,000 individuals
reach the military age annually. Algeria is
equipped with more than a thousand
tanks, 1800 armored fighting vehicles ,
over 400 air crafts, 136 helicopters, 3
submarines, 12 coastal crafts. With a
defense budget of over $ 8 bn, Algeria will
continue to be among the African
countries with the best military strength
. . KENYA
Kenya is a major hub in the East Africa .
Officially called the Republic of Kenya , the
country has a population of about 43
million residents. When it comes to fire
power, Kenya is a force to reckon with.
The country has enough military strength
to afford to always send some on a peace
keeping mission in other African countries.
Almost 20 million people make up the
country’s man power and more than 12
million of these are fit for service. 839,000
reach military age every year. Kenya
boasts of 186 tanks, 30 self propelled
guns, 148 air crafts, 78 helicopters, 194
serviceable airports and a defense budget
of over $ 5 bn to keep her in good shape .
7. LIBYA
The 2011 Libya revolution has placed
question marks on the military
capabilities of a country with population
of just over 6 million. Almost 3 million
citizens are fit for service and just about
116,000 people reach service age each
year but these small numbers correlate
quite oppositely to
the artillery and ammunition the country
boasts of when compared with other
African countries. Libya boasts of 500
tanks, 2 , 500 armored fighting vehicles ,
400 self propelled guns , 800 rocket
projectors, 1050 potable AT weapons, over
600 air crafts and 121 helicopters and
$880 million pumped in to defense every
year.

Then, in that regard I would suggest that Nigeria's universities are of a low standard when it comes to the quality of university education. Zulu culture which is one of the most important in the history of Africans in general forms the integral part in the study of African history. There is nowhere you can ever study African politics and history and you do not come across such a fine history.
