I will only cast my vote for a well known atheist for so many reasons.
1) most atheist don't have much interest in riches and prosperities thereby making them to be less corrupt. not like a theist who will waste all his time praying for blessings and prosperities thereby making them to be more corrupt
2) an atheist did not believed in life after death so his Paradise is on earth here and he have to do everything to make the earth a lovely place to be, not like a religious person who will care less about how to develop his home town because he is expecting a Paradise up the heaven when he lives the earth.
3) an atheist will help to fight noise pollution from the religious institutions, either from church or mosque or pagans because he do not believed in "touch not my anointed" and he is not afraid of any deity to judge him or condem him to an everlasting fire.
4) an atheist does not owe any 10% to any pastor or nan of God which will make him think More on his duties than trying to satisfy any man of God
5) an atheist does not have to waste government money on donations to churches or mosque just to proove how holy and God's loving he is
6) an atheist does not have to waste state money just to sponsor some religious bigot to either Mecca or Jerusalem. knowing quite well that those white folks don't even give a fu-k about our country.
I have many reasons just because of time but will still update it when am less busy. to all agnostics and atheist out there, you can add yours

an atheist will invest much in science and technology which will help to eradicate diseases because he did not believed in prayers and miracles

Religion is not a factor in the behaviours of men............i av met both good and bad people from all d various religions and also good and bad atheist.............its so painfull that we chose our presidents based on ethnicity and religion rather than intelligence, academic qualifaction and track record of past service to Nigeria........I av a dream that one day Nigerians would come together and select a leader not based on is origins or beliefs but rather on what he has done and what he can do for the country

The problem with theism is it always define what is a good from what is bad in a bias manner, hence it allows for discrimination and nepotism....

Religion makes good people turn unconsciously. ...hence religion is a tool for cunning men for exploitation of gullible minded people.

I tends to agree with the notation that an atheist has a better chance of been free from nepotism, corruption, discrimination because an atheist normally use logic and scientific reason to make decisions. ...an atheism will do everything possible to make sure the society he lives in is well taking cared off because he believe in no life after death.

atheist tends to be more educated and reason more logically than theist hence they have better judgements of situations.

I'm atheist but I have no problem voting for a theist whose ideas and philosophy closely match my own. No candidate, even an atheist, is going to be 100% of what I want. And there's no guarantee that he or she won't be corrupt. Being able to vote for an atheist would be nice but I wouldn't like to box myself into voting for that candidate.

hmmm....depends......although it would mostly tell who he/she is before campaigning...

Religion is good has it helps to entrap mans natural tendecy for evil and reduce it to an acceptable level by the falacy of heaven or hell,.mam now has a reason to carry on doing good but has the ages went buy certain men found a way of manupulating religion for there own personal gains.....imagine telling u to pay tithe has instructed by the old testament but ignoring other negative instructions in the old testement like waging of wars and stoning of people who commit adultry, then turning to the new testerment.....The imams and pastors should be gone away with..........

Yes, if we look at studies, atheists are more likely to live a more effective life than religious peeps but that doesnt mean that atheists are all perfect or good.
