If you're a student nw or before, when or living in the Uk presently. Please tell us how you got the job and how you coped with your studies at the same time.
I Like to work to support self and get busy but studies is still the priority.

Anybody that can combine an MSc programme with work is a super star, honestly
I cannot get over the busy school schedule
Really draining....

I have fantasies of a major, totally unexpected computer shut down in my school, lasting for 3 days....or not more than one week,
So I can catch my breath!
Phew!!!

Its not easy to do when you are doing Msc because you have just one summer which is your dissertation, its doable for undergraduate but your academic and social life are more likely to take a huge blow.

If you depend on the money coming from part time job for your rent or fees then depression is your right hand man because you can't afford not to work any week and you still have to attend lectures full time to meet your visa requirements.

You are a real super star...true story
Not that I will not party or the like , but the idea of another routine (work) along with an existing one (school) would finish me here
Maybe cos I am not used to this place

Kudos to anyone combining a job and school...then save me some coins oo

It's possible, you just have to be smart about it. My mates and I worked and still ended up with very good grades. The trick is to be very attentive in class, once you do that it will be easier.

I had a funny experience, went for a gig out of town for five days (the pay was good I had to take it) had my Java exam the morning I got back, finished the exam early and got an A. So it's tough but possible.

Exactly!! That was why i said you can't pull it off doing Msc, you can with undergraduate if you are 100% committed, but doing it for 3yrs is tough. Done that but please don't ask me how it turns out.

Although i had my fees and rent taken care of, but i had a Ghanaian friend on the same program, that guy na winch...he paid the school fees in installment and rent with his job ooo.. shocked.
At night, he does security...so he studies on his job, then he comes to class and sleeps in the day. That guy is just incredible...but sad that he has no savings.
When i left the UK for Canada, i heard he is already on a Phd program and paying with his night security job. He doesn't qualify for funding as he is non-EU.

Bro I respectively disagree with you on this. You can only do that if you have at least half of your fees paid then set the remaining on instalment, even at that it's still going to be a tall order, let's assumed that your fees is £10,000 and you deposited £5000 and your course starts September to finish July, you will be given maximum of 6 months to pay the rest. To be able to meet up you need to be saving at least £1000 a month to pay fees, rent, bills and food. 20 hrs a week security job will not give you that money.

You can not pay your Msc school fees, rent and bills from scratch working part time as a foreign student.

The guy wasn't working part time, he was working full time even though it was against UKBA rules with respect to working on a UK student visa. And my University allows student to spread their payment for more than 6 months (depending on circumstances). If you miss an installment, they just log students off the system so students would be denied access to school facilities. Salford uni was still considered mean to students as we don't get to write exams when logged off. University of Manchester students had it easier. The university does not log them off or stop them from lectures or exams. They just withhold their certificate till they balance up the tuition.

But if was to follow the UKBA rules (which is what i advise cos of ''everyday for the thief, one day for the owner''). It is impossible to pay fees or rent with a part time 20hrs job/week. That can only cover feeding.
