Some sought asylum in Brazil while some renounced their citizenship due to hardship. I didn't lump the two stories together, so STFU.

Ghanaian football fans seek asylum in Brazil

Hundreds of Ghanaian football fans travelled to Brazil to follow their team in the World Cup
Brazilian federal police say that some 200 Ghanaians have requested asylum after entering the country on tourist visas to watch the World Cup.
The Ghanaians say they are Muslims fleeing inter-religious conflicts in their home country.
They have filed their applications in the southern city of Caxias do Sul, in one of Brazil's most prosperous areas.
The BBC's Sammy Darko in Ghana's capital, Accra, says the country has no recorded religious conflict.
Ghana is seen as one of the most peaceful and prosperous countries in West Africa.
The Brazilian authorities believe many of the Ghanaians are looking for the right to work legally in the country.

817 Ghanaians renounce their Citizenship

The Ministry of Interior has revealed about 817 Ghanaians denounced their Citizenship in the year 2013 as against 39 foreigners who applied to be Ghanaians.
This was made known when the Ministry took its turn at the meet the press series addressed by the Minister in charge of Interior, Kwesi Ahwoi in Accra on Monday.
According to the Ministry, 538 applied for German citizenship, 233 sought Dutch, Norway 32, Denmark 7, Austria 5, Hong Kong 1 and China 1.
The Ghanaians stated among other things, good economic conditions, high wages and salaries and other incentives associated with their profession in their countries of choice as reasons for their exit from Ghana.
Out of the 817, 450 were females and 367 males.
The Director of Migration at the Ministry of Interior, David Agorsor, described the situation as ”alarming” because the persons involved were highly skilled professionals.
“Recently, we have noticed that the number of Ghanaians renouncing their Ghanaian citizenship is on the increase and in very much alarming and the caliber of Ghanaians who are renouncing their Ghanaian citizenship … are health workers, doctors and all that who find it very easy to work there, and the remuneration that they also get there is much more better than when they live in Ghana and work,” Mr. Agorsor indicated.
Nigerian's Begging For Asylum In Greece by

Did anyone watch last night's Unreported
World on Channel 4. It was about Afghan's
languishing in over- crowded jails just like
Nigerian's in Libya, Towards the end of the
progarmme there was a scene where both
afghan's and African's were begging for asylum
in the rain. i was able to pick up two nigerian
accents from a lady and a man. Why are our
people going to places like Greece to seek
asylum, these people are ill-informed, i know
how bad things are in Nigeria but i know
Greece is worst. Uk, Holland and Us is much
better, at least you can work illegally if know
the right people here in the UK, If anyone out
there in Nigeria is reading this, pls stay away
from Greece and Libya, try the Uk and pls be
here before the next election when the "we
shall deport all illegal immgrants and bogus
asylum and refugee & scrap the human right's
bill" party(conservatives- tory toffs) win the
election,

Do your research...the equator passees tru Ghana,is a well known fact.

Ghanaians are great asylum seekers

The Canadian Embassy in Ghana ‘bounced’ (means refused) me visa sometime back. After years of swerving several invitations because of so many reasons, which I don’t want to mention because you will mock me, I thought this one was an exception, it was juicy, and I couldn’t swerve it. Yes, I have a phobia! You are asking or eager to know what I was going to do in Canada, right? Okay, I will tell you guys;

As a spoken word artist in Ghana, after going through hundreds of shows here since 2007, I deemed it as awesome to cross borders. Not to chill, but to meet other poets, write my second album (here is the first) from a different perspective, record with some other poets and also, showcase or perform to a different audience.

The Banff Centre in Canada was organizing an eleven-day program, a residency actually, called SPOKEN WORD, so I applied. It was a very long process indeed and I had little or no hope. A couple of weeks after I applied, they wrote me back and were happy to accept me to attend this residency in the Banff Centre in Canada. Not just that, they gave me a $1,147.60 financial aid so I just had to pay $418.81. You guys can imagine how happy I was. And even though I don’t like traveling, I thought this was the opportunity and my bae (trying to get trendy here) kept on pushing me to apply for a Canadian visa because she knew I could easily change my mind, that was highly possible. I did apply, and I got bounced!

If u call yourselves giant of Africa on merit of your overpopulation then that's up to u.Apart from that u people are giant in foolishness.

The fact that uve managed to use the oil money to develop some few places in nigeria doest make it developed. Only 0.00005% of nigeria land mass is with few nice buildings. The rest of nigeria is like a zoo.SLUMS,MUD AND WOOD BUILDINGS EVERYWHERE.

80% of Accra residents live in slums – Farouk Braimah

The chief executive officer of the People’s Dialogue on Human Settlement has said 80% of Accra’s residents live in slums.

“There are basically two definitions we can ascribe to a slum. We identified five key areas; the one that talks about improved sanitation, the one that talks about clean water, the physical condition of the house, tenure security and overcrowding,” he said.

Speaking on Our Cities , Farouk Braimah said his outfit worked with the UN and Ministry Of Local Government to find a localized definition of slums and they discovered that some slums had grown, matured and nothing could be done about them except for regeneration.

“There are different categories of slums. We have one that has grown and matured and there is nothing we can do about it unless you wipe them out or do some regeneration; and we have the smaller slums which are more transient and we can deal with them by getting the people out of the area,” he stated.
