iconize:Nigerian's Begging For Asylum In Greece by thameamead( f): 2:48pm On Oct 31 , 2009 Did anyone watch last night's Unreported World on Channel 4. It was about Afghan's languishing in over- crowded jails just like Nigerian's in Libya, Towards the end of the progarmme there was a scene where both afghan's and African's were begging for asylum in the rain. i was able to pick up two nigerian accents from a lady and a man. Why are our people going to places like Greece to seek asylum, these people are ill-informed, i know how bad things are in Nigeria but i know Greece is worst. Uk, Holland and Us is much better, at least you can work illegally if know the right people here in the UK, If anyone out there in Nigeria is reading this, pls stay away from Greece and Libya, try the Uk and pls be here before the next election when the "we shall deport all illegal immgrants and bogus asylum and refugee & scrap the human right's bill" party(conservatives- tory toffs) win the election, |

OXYGENO1: Ghanaians are great asylum seekers The Canadian Embassy in Ghana ‘bounced’ (means refused) me visa sometime back. After years of swerving several invitations because of so many reasons, which I don’t want to mention because you will mock me, I thought this one was an exception, it was juicy, and I couldn’t swerve it. Yes, I have a phobia! You are asking or eager to know what I was going to do in Canada, right? Okay, I will tell you guys; As a spoken word artist in Ghana, after going through hundreds of shows here since 2007, I deemed it as awesome to cross borders. Not to chill, but to meet other poets, write my second album (here is the first) from a different perspective, record with some other poets and also, showcase or perform to a different audience. The Banff Centre in Canada was organizing an eleven-day program, a residency actually, called SPOKEN WORD, so I applied. It was a very long process indeed and I had little or no hope. A couple of weeks after I applied, they wrote me back and were happy to accept me to attend this residency in the Banff Centre in Canada. Not just that, they gave me a $1,147.60 financial aid so I just had to pay $418.81. You guys can imagine how happy I was. And even though I don’t like traveling, I thought this was the opportunity and my bae (trying to get trendy here) kept on pushing me to apply for a Canadian visa because she knew I could easily change my mind, that was highly possible. I did apply, and I got bounced! |

A complete tout with no home training, that's who you are, after all your vocabulary consist of nothing more than two letter words 'fools and mumunigeria'. Abeg shift comot here. |

OXYGENO1: Coming from someone whose only city is a mighty slum and dirtiest in west Africa. 80% of Accra residents live in slums – Farouk Braimah The chief executive officer of the People’s Dialogue on Human Settlement has said 80% of Accra’s residents live in slums. “There are basically two definitions we can ascribe to a slum. We identified five key areas; the one that talks about improved sanitation, the one that talks about clean water, the physical condition of the house, tenure security and overcrowding,” he said. Speaking on Our Cities , Farouk Braimah said his outfit worked with the UN and Ministry Of Local Government to find a localized definition of slums and they discovered that some slums had grown, matured and nothing could be done about them except for regeneration. “There are different categories of slums. We have one that has grown and matured and there is nothing we can do about it unless you wipe them out or do some regeneration; and we have the smaller slums which are more transient and we can deal with them by getting the people out of the area,” he stated. |
