Most people don't understand what backwardness is. Abia isn't a backward state, it just has dilapidated infrastructures which can be fixed, backward states in nigeria are the likes of ebonyi, kogi, ekiti, kebbi, jigawa, taraba etc

As I read the various comments, I wonder the basis of such comparisons. States that were created in 1967, 1976, 1987, are used to compare with states that were created in 1991 and 1996 with little or no take-off grants. Even South East states that have been neglected since after the war by the Federal Government are being compared to those states that have been benefiting from Federal presence and patronage. If we look at developments in the South East, most of the infrastructure were provided by the people themselves through community development and self-help efforts. That is why most rural communities in Igboland are well developed as they have all the basic amenities which are not seen in many states. More than 95% of all the communities in Ebonyi State have electricity and therefore should not be in the list.

Ebonyi. Abia would ve been a very lovely state but the governor is so wicked. I can't see any developmental work being done there.

the above is the characteristic of ibos- they abandon their own problems and talk about other people's. Abia state is there begging for redemption, yet this ibo man feels now is the time to ridicule osun. Well, thanks for reminding our governors what their duty should be.
Name your most backward state pls..

Lol am from Osun State, its only a phool that will compare us with Abia State, Aba yes is neglected but the number of brank branches in Azikiwe, Asa, and Faulks road alone outnumbered that of all bank branches in Ekiti and my state Osun combined.

The number of 3,4;5;6 storey buildings in Umungasi and Ogbor Hill Aba alone beat the ones in the entire yorubaland combined.

The annual production output of one factory in Aba will take Ekiti State 17years to accomplish Osun State 24years to do so. grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin

its only a phool that will be mentioning Abia and Osun State in the development index.

Am from Ede Osun State but i was born in Aba, let the truth be told

Osun state has the most developed agricultural sector , they have millions of hectares of marijuana and india hemp which NDLEA had to employ bulldozers to destroy

my broda these 2 state u r mentioning are so under developed. Even whr there call township is made up of ancient 1880 buildings with poor roads. Osun state is even worse wen it comes 2 abject poverty. But I think Ogbeni has tried.

My observation here is that; majority of the states mentioned here are PDP states. So where is the Transformation Agenda and fresh Air the PDP and their supporters always talk about?
