Nigeria’ll go down the drain in 2015 if –Buhari 0 BY NOAH EBIJE, KADUNA ON OCTOBER 19, 2014 · POLITICS ■ Our politicians should not divide the North –ACF Former Head of State and All Progressives Congress (APC), presidential aspirant, General Muhammadu Buhari (Retd) came down heavily on the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), saying Nigeria would be washed away as a country if the ruling party is given four more years in office in the 2015 general election. In the same vein, the Chairman of the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), Ibrahim Coomassie, in a goodwill message delivered on his behalf by Barrister Solomon Dalung, urged northerners not to allow themselves to be divided by the artificial differences created by politicians. ACF urged politicians from the northern extraction to put the interest of the north first and above their personal interest, saying ACF’s desire is for a united north that could give credible leadership in the country. Speaking yesterday, in Kaduna, on behalf of other presidential aspirants of APC, at the party’s Northern stakeholders’ interactive meeting, General Buhari noted that Nigerians had become tired of incompetent leadership and urged the electorate to ensure that free, fair and credible elections that will usher in credible leaders at all levels of governance in the country are held. APC presidential aspirants present at the meeting included former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, Kano State Governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, and Sam Nda Isaiah. Other members were Zamfara State Governor, Abdulazeez Yari, APC Deputy National Chairman (North), Senator Lawal Shuaibu, among others. The former Head of State described 2015 as another year of extreme concern to Nigerians, urging participants at the meeting not to allow their members to be disenfranchised before or during the elections. Apparently, making caricature of huge presence of security operatives in Ekiti State during the gubernatorial election in the state, Buhari noted that the number of soldiers, police and SSS deployed to the state during the election, were enough to rescue the abducted Chibok girls if the same number was deployed to the troubled north east. He recalled with pains that he contested presidential election three times in the country and ended up in the Supreme Court to challenge his failure, saying that judges that ruled on the cases were his own brothers from the North, while those behind him were Southern Christians. Buhari said: “If PDP is given another four years to rule this country, Nigeria will go down the drain in 2015. This is because Nigerians are tired of incompetent leadership, so we must be ready to make sacrifices that will salvage the country, let us not allow our people to be disenfranchised during the elections, we must be united to ensure free, fair and credible elections in 2015. “I contested the Presidential election three times in this country and failed and ended up in the Supreme Courts and lost the case. The first time the judges agreed that there were no elections and they were all Christians, but the second time, the judges that declared that the PDP had won despite the irregularities, were Fulanis from Adamawa and Taraba, and a Nupe man, that was when I understood that it was not about religion and ethnicity, but Naira and Dollar. So, there is the need for the party to be united and make a difference in the general elections in 2015.” Meanwhile, in his opening speech, the APC Deputy National Chairman (North), Senator Lawal Shuaibu said one of the reasons for the stakeholders meeting was to sensitize the leaders of the party about their roles as guardians and conscience of the party. Shuaibu said, “We expect that at the end of this meeting, we will be able to develop and adopt strategies for enhancing party unity and discipline. We equally hope that aside from what the constitution specifies, we will be able to come up with home-spurned internal conflict resolution mechanisms that will solidify the party and build it into a strong institution.”

expert1000:From ur response to the article it shows u lack ability to comprehend. Buhari said Christian Judges were more just than muslim Judges in his cases with PDP. He went further to say he has realised in Nigeria what matters most is not ethnicity or religion But Naira and Kobo. Don't forget his speech was made in a Northern forum. In regional forum it is expected for you to make statement that appeal to that region were the forum is taking place. But he tried his best to be as National as possible rather than being completely regional in d forum. By saying that nigeria will go down the drain if PDP wins 2015 simply means Nigeria economy will go down d drain because of poor and corrupt leadership that will emerge. Note: I am a christian. I don't support any political party. I am totally against d body language of APC which seems like thier presidential candidate must be from d North. I want the race to be open to anyone in any region. But btw Jonathan and Buhari I will choose Buhari. We christians should not allow d propaganda dat Buhari will Islamised Nigeria. He cannot try it. Even if he conceived it, he cannot achieve it because he needs 2/3 of National Assembly to do it. So it is a mere propaganda. If you read the bible, in old testament you will see that there were many Kings who were not jews, who serve idols and yet were blessed and love by God. In the New testament Pilate who is a roman and a Gentile was more just than all the scribes (the jewish teachers equivalent to pastor today) and Phariseas (the Jewish leaders). the truth is that No politician in Nigeria represent Christianity. They only represent thier pocket. They only claim religion to deceive d gullible ones. we should not look at religion in 2015. We should choose people as individuals. 4 Likes 1 Share |

atbu1983:Good as buhari's reputation might seem on d anti-corruption platform, my challenge is his capacity to inspire nigerians to build a new nation. There is no one man that can fix nigeria. Our problem is systemic so we need a systematic approach to our corruption issues. If you care the judiciary as presently constituted will not be able deal wt corruption issues owing to d retinue of pending cases and the structural framework of the legal system.U also need legislative co-operation to deal wt d issues appropriately. A man perceived to be a hardliner might be rendered handicapped in a democracy wt what i will refer to as legislative bottlenecks.Moreso buhari is too sectional for Nigeria. In 1983 when he took over d reins of power, ekwueme the then vice president was incarcerated while shagari the then president was treated to house arrest with all presidential luxuries aside freedom. My present neighbor lived next to d house he was kept in ikoyi, she was much younger then.Several southern governors were jailed and just one or two northern govs. Buhari is too sectional for presidency in my opinion.I would have preferred a liberal but disciplined and intelligent northerner. |

Nigeria cant go down the drain if; 1. people decide to work hand in hand with the govt 2. judgement is not guided by sentiments like tribe, religion and numba of yrs in office. 3. everyone decides to wrk towards being a "brothers keeper" 4. d president is allowed to work without bokoharam bombing & kidnapping 5. d opposition parties stop insulting d govt anyhw & exploit its policies that re good. They re many but if this 5 re done, we can never go down the drain becos d country is precious for such comment 1 Like |

peewhydee:I have d same concerns as you. There are better Nigerians than Buhari and Jonathan. Personally I would hv preferred Oby Ezekwesili or Fashola or Oshiomole. But we both know that won't happen. I am from Niger Delta. Between Jonathan and Buhari, Jonathan is more sectional. We are trying to choose from two imperfect choices. Looking at the two with critical analysis Buhari is better for Nigeria. Jonathan represent Mediocrity and success by mere favour. Jonathan glorify corruption. that is not good for d nation and the youth. Especially d christian youth. it will make them lazy and rely on favour and chance. Buhari represent hardwork and passion for 15years of fighting to be president. That is a good motivation for hardwork and perseverance. if buhari performs badly after 4 years we will kick his sorry ass. |

So, except Buhari is made the "King", the "Kingdom" of Nigeria will be washed away? First of all, what exacrly is Buhari's problem? Cant he focus on what he will offer to Nigeria rather than this tyranical threats in the name of campaign? Jonathan has revolusionalised Agriculture which is the main stay of the northen economy. He is addressing the menace of almajeris which Buhari and his band of visionlesss leaders had neglected. What does he mean by Nigeria going down the drain? Will he resort to another wave of violence since he has lost hope in the judiciary. The handlers of Buhari should try and tame him! He is too wild for a leader! For those who are defending him, love is indeed blind! 1 Like |
