I'm proud to tell you that if Agricultural Science / Food Science and Technology are not in the top ten most marketable courses in Nigeria. Then you need to do more research on the graduates that are yet to find a job. This is my opinion.

Please, Bsmartt, tell them
Food science and technology and others.

Am Proud to be a food technologist.

I appreciate your sincere politeness and good etiqette; and i'm sorry if you misinterpreted what i said as an insult. But i still can't stand that you argue with me on the fact of our discussion. If really you want to know about the marketability of biochemistry, u can read that up from one of my posts. Thanks.
I just went through one of your thread on Biochemistry and realized that you are still an undergraduate, all what you are saying are just theoretical but are not really practical in our Nigerian society.
Hospital laboratories don't need biochemist no more, how many functional research institutes do we have and how many graduates do you think they employ annually? Not to make mention of the food and beverage industries that will rather employ food technologist and other specialised professionals, pharmaceutical industries employ biochemist as mostly medical sales representative but the question again is, how many pharmaceutical companies do we have in Nigeria?
In summary, all am saying is that Biochemistry is an interesting and versatile course but there are no necessary developed infrastructure in Nigeria to make Biochemistry marketable and sought after.
efedua:
hey bro. you gat lot of opportunities to work in research agencies, hospital labs and et al.
you can learn more from;

Not in Nigeria bro, the demand for Biochemistry graduate is low.

Well, most of my friends that studied Chemical Engineering (and made good grade) have very good jobs.

Well, I didn't say they don't have good jobs, but its not competitive the way people see it. am a chemical engineer and I work in a good company, but I can tell you categorically that we have thin chances to compete with a mechanical, electrical and petroleum engineers mainly in the oil and gas sector.

pls mention a unique thing we do that any other engineer can not do in the industry?

I rest my case.
God bless all chemical Engineers.

It seems I saw geology on that list! I'm a graduate of geology with strong 2'1, finished service since JUNE this year, no job till now.
Can someone elucidate more if geology is still lucrative or not

I am proud to be a geologist
if you can do soil tests, and drill bore holes, that alone can keep self employed even if you dont get oil companies where most of your guys go. I belong to the group 2, and im self employed, we often require those two services i mentioned above, but can you perform is the question

My dear what school did you finish from? I am also a graduate from GEOLOGY. I finished from Uniben. I know getting job as a geologist is not easy but when you get one you re made for life... hope you re current with the recent recruitment? You just need to be updated in the oil and gas so you can have more chances...
Nice to meet my fellow geologist...

I can really perform in those areas if I can get a helping hand to start something. That can help to get something doing than sleeping at home for close to 5months now.
I will appreciate your support in this regard sir!

Thanks.
