this makes it two incidences.
@ othets how far with all the yeye mouth una dey make before match start coded01: Congratulations to Real Madrid & their fans... Hmmm! "I see so many analysts in the house"... I wish people can be reasonable when they analyze football but I notice people are bias instead... Whether I like Messi or not, I will say nothing but the truth... The best player on the field definitely was "ISCO" while on the other hand, "BRAVO" was our best player, with due respect to Valdez, if Valdez was in last night's match, we would probably concede as many as 5, 6 or 7 goals not saying he is not that good but rather pointing out how special bravo was last night considering how poor the defence was... Like someone said earlier, pique lost his credibility a few years back & he has depreciated ever since... Dani alves, I have pushed for his sale but seeing him play for barca still baffles me... --- He is "done"... Mathieu should never be played as a left back again (but only as a CB), whether he did that @ Valencia or not is not my biz... Jodi Alba should be allowed to start @ his favorite position (LB)... Mascherano still plays better than Pique even when played as a false CB but should be allowed to play his favorite position (DM) not a CB again except on emergency cases... Busquets or biscuit is just recovering from injury yet I still don't trust him whether fully fit or not for a game like this with his poor performances in recent years since he has no one to compete with (Song was never a competitor!). He needs to alternate with Mascherano for the DM position & Mascherano should be preferred to play in a game this "physical". Xavi with due respect, he has paid his dues & he needs a break! Iniesta Iniesta Iniesta!!! What a "through pass"? Obviously, his performances in the past 2 seasons have been questionable but still reliable though but not like we are used to... "Messi alias Chairman" Honestly, I can't blame him cos without him, I doubt many "so called barca fans" would be fans today... But I don't understand why he usually feels undisturbed anytime he looses the ball & instead of getting the ball back, he instead looks away like his colleagues are meant to do the rest while he watches which I don't like... Although, it is sad to say but Messi is not the messi we are all used to... Neymar aside from the goal seemed clueless... Anyway, still has a lot left in his tank... Suarez my favorite! --- Just coming out of suspension after months of "temporary lay-off" --- Trust me, he will be back with a vengeance... Once again! I congratulate Real Madrid & their fans for such a Victory... On a last note, we are the only "top team" I know that refuses to produce a decent bench for the past 6 seasons... Imagine Pedro for Suarez or Roberto for Iniesta... We need intensity & consistency!!! imagine so you still dey alive. fake dj. |

I'm not dropping this because we lost, but Lucho is not tactically versatile. I have observed our game time and time again, and whether we choose to admit it or not, we are still on auto-run. Although he is doing great in terms of discipline and motivating the players. But in this match, we lost motivation, tactical discipline, wrong personnel, players playing at odd positions, and the general technique and tactics of the game.
We need to be less arrogant too. Saying you don't have to change your play or style because you are playing Team A or Team B is wrong. As a coach, you should be able to add tactical variety to your game. We have counter-attacking situations, and we slow the heck outta them. As fair as Martino was, he brought variety to the team play, albeit the players, the fans and the club never accepted it. And oddly, he reverted back to what they (or we) were used to, and that was how our last season's performances took a downward trend.
I thought Lucho liked fast-pace games. But... Smh... I am yet to read any quote from the coach, I just want to hear what he is going to say about the game. we lack fast players and when the opportunity to counter arise, we are found wanting. |

Can you please tell me Mascherano's fault? Not Mascherano's fault per say, it's that of the coach for playing him in the heart of defence instead of playing him as a 4, we have seen him Excell as a 4 than a 5 or 6, best bet would have been alves, pique, Matthieu and Alba with xavi, Mascherano and rakitic in the midfield, this would have stabilized the game. Iniesta would have been used as a sub for xavi. Sucks! |

Sucks! Bro, it's just as if you saw my formation on paper. It would have worked for our good, but the coach decided to spoil the day by playing Mathieu and Masch out of position while putting Alba and Rakitic on the bench and played an unfit Busi. So painful! |

ddippset: outplaying and outclassing does not mean you must win the game. i could remember the countless number of times we outplayed and outclassed real madrid in the last couple of years and madrid still got to win the match from a defensive blunder(valdez, pinto, pique, mascherano) or a set piece. you might have outplayed or outclassed or out whatevered us, but pique's handball and iniesta's in decision gave you victory. Guy did we win while outplaying and outclassing u guys or did we win with defensive play |

Criticising the coach will be overstating the facts for me. It is well known on this street the obvious dislike I have for Lucho but what's been done has been done so no need to cry over spilled milk.
I had no problem with playing Pique in centre half position but I maintain that we should have paired him with Mattieu while Alves and Alba maintained their regular positions. Macherano and NOT Busquets should have been the DM.
Most of us criticising Pique forget to realize that Madrid started out by trying to pull crosses through from Alves' wing for CR7 but it failed to yield on a couple of occasions courtesy Pique. It was after this that they preferred to play the crosses on the ground and one of such instances created the handball and thereby penalty.
Alves wasn't to blame in totality too. Suarez who played on that wing was supposed to help with the defensive duties but he rarely did and this left Alves exposed to mark Marcelo and atimes Isco or CR7 all through the game. Even When Hamez Rodriguez got the ball on left of our defence, he always switched it back to Alves' wing because that was the major leakage.
Mattieu didn't have a bad game defending against Caraval and James. Neymar on occasions too helped and we safely neutralized them and I think he should be commended for doing such.
Concerning Neymar and Mattieu up front there was nothing going and this is partly because Caraval was brilliant and also because Iniesta lacked ideas all game.Xavi too was slow and equally bereft especially since Madrid played 2 CMFs in front of their back 4.
I will never blame Suarez for his contributions. He did very well. If anything I will blame the midfielders for not reading his runs all the time. Suarez attempted to make good runs in behind the defence but the players were much more interested in tiki takaing their way into oblivion and even when Rakitic came on, he continued with the same folly. A few times he was through on goal to have a shot but he rather passed the ball to the side that is, to either Messi or Alves. It was so disappointing as Madrid would have conceded if we played any more direct than we did.
As per Messi, he did no wrong all game apart from lose steam as soon as Madrids 3rd goal came in. Not only him but the whole team and this is solely the managers fault. We had up to 25mins to muster a come back but somehow the body language of the players kept saying "we have lost and we know it". That's not the Barca attitude.
As for those criticising Messis indifference after losing the ball, you have to remember that he had a yellow card as early as the 8th min or so and he was forced to play on thin ice till game end. Same with Neymar and a host of others and they didn't want to get a Red card.
At the end of the day, we lost to 3 semi-unforced errors. The second goal was the worst of all. We still haven't learnt to defend against Cornerkicks. I don't understand how Sergio Ramos and Pepe (2 of the 3 best headers in RM) were left unattended to. That is criminal if not diabolical and we made same school boy errors against PSG this season.
Oh well, all hope isn't lost. We can be more pragmatic at times. Messi should be encouraged to drive into the box and get fouled for a penalty. Neymar can do so too. We can also employ counter attacks and direct passes to the forward players instead of passing the ball side to side (sometimes hopelessly). It took the players 30 odd mins to realize how high up Rayo Vallecano's defence was set up before we used direct long passes to expose them and score 2 goals. That's not good enough for a team of Barcas quality. And on Lucho we placed the responsibilities of such requisite intelligence but so far he has failed to deliver on the big occasions.
My hope is that he is learning. RM are still bread for us. |

SAYS BARÇA HAVE TO CUT OUT ERRORS Luis Enrique: "Real Madrid were worthy winners" Luis Enrique was understandably disappointed after losing at the Bernabéu: "Defeats don't make you stronger. The conclusion from this one is that there are better teams than us. We have to address our mistakes". A game of two halves: "We started well but then we conceded clear chances right after scoring. We could have made it 2-0, but it was an end-to-end first half. We struggled in the second period and they were worthy winners". Where Barça went wrong: "We stopped creating chances, but that was down to the opposition. The second goal was from a set piece and the third came from an error on our part. We got picked off on the break. We weren't forceful enough at the back and we paid the price". Luis Suárez: "I don't regret starting him. He played well and looked reasonably up to speed - more so than I expected, in fact. The last half an hour could have taken its toll on him and that's why we brought him off". http://www.marca.com/en/2014/10/25/en/football/barcelona/1414269960.html |
