Is It A Crime Helping Accident Victims To The Hospital? by Fussbot: 2:35pm On Oct 28, 2014
Yesterday, there was a hit and run in my area. The victim was lucky not to have died instantly and was moved to one side of the road groaning in pains.Everybody was emotional crying and all that, but there was nobody to help him to the hospital. They were all scared of the police if the person died b4 they got to the hospital. They called the road safety corps, they said they were far from the place but they are coming.According to what I was told, the man eventually died!...

Now to our dear police force.what, should we do b4 helping an accident victim to the hospital?what would be the consequence(s) if the person died b4 getting to the hospital?..This issue is killing people more than accident itself!

I remeber a case where a gurl found an abondon baby on a canal and took the baby to the police station. They collect her name and address and thank her önly for the police to return and start harrassing the gurl claiming she is the owner of the baby untill we were able to convince the police with medical reports and some money b4 she was allow to go. Since then i kept asking my self what is the right thing to do next time?

Their was this begger who have been sitting in a particular position for over five years begging for arms. One day he fell sick and spent over 4 days in that place. We went to the council to report and they promise to come yet they did not come even after collecting N2300 from us as bribe. Finaly the begger died and we went to the council to report again this time they ask us for police report and we are to pay N60 thousand naira.
On getting to the station the police said they want at least more than five withness b4 they will do or say anything. Now the body is smelling badly and we nomimated 8 elderly people to go to the police station on getting there they were told to prove that they are not the killkers of the begger and were thrown into the cell and we should wait till after they conclude their investigation. To cut the long story short those people that went to the station were finally put on bail at N10,000 each. And we have to bear the stench for up to 2weeks.
I believe most of the problem we are having in this country are not spiritual rather it has more to do with the mentality of the people

hmn! lost my dad 2 yrs ago to similar circumstance! He was in his early sixties. The okada guy that he fell off his bike begged soneone in the crowd to help him lift my dad to a hospital at this time he was conscious (so we were later told) the crowd just stared making sympathetic utterances. the okada guy gave up and reported at the nearest police station. by the time he came back my dad was dead. He was remanded by the police because my dad died and was prosecuted. but considering his actions we settled out of court. he paid the mortuary bill. it was so painful! I keep thinking what if he had gotten soneone to help, perhaps my dad would be alive!

I know! The okada guy was a noble person! he could have escaped! we the children wanted him to be set free but my uncles were insisting he foot the burial finally we just pleade he offset the mortuary bill! I really wouldn't have blamed him if he had ran away. a lot of innocent people who are not culprits but just want to help have beem remanded like you said by the police and even prosecuted for what they didn't do! having said that who and when will this ugly trend stop? a lot of accident victim die right in front of reachable help!

that's why I wld love to hear from them..the "orientation part"

It is their reaction that gave people this mentality in the first place...I wld like to know the rationale behind their action of remanding the helper as the first suspect...is dia a law backing that?is it a form of intelliegnce in their work?...it is what planted fear in the people...I thought if it was a smooth sailing process without any legal consequences...they would have been shouting on media outlets encouraging people to do it....but I guess reverse is the case here..
